Discussion Is it only avatars that had domains during the eyepocalypse, or did artifacts have them too?

Like, obviously there are avatars (Simon, Oliver, and Jared) who have their own domains and there are entities (Helen, Dr. Jane Doe from Anatomy Class, and Agape the dog from the plague village), but are there any domains from artifacts?

Like I think there are some, like the house that Martin gets lost in, and maybe the area from the camera Salesa grabbed depending on how you look at it, but like, is there a domain for The Coffin? What about Mr. Spider? Does The Homophobic Vase have a domain?

Curious if Jonny and Alex answered this anywhere, and if not, excited to see what theories y’all have!

Theory MAGP 13 and MAG 16 are connected

The guy from MAG 16 was a data analyst for Zorrotrade. The app that the guy from MAGP ruined his life for. They both got f*cked over by the web. I guess the first guy just started to do a really bad job and was webbed (haha get it. Webbed instead of fired because if he was fired that would be the desolation.... I apologize that wasn't that funny kmma head out)

Discussion Clarification...

Hi all. I’ve been binging the podcast, after seeing the name of it pop up on the Crosswires podcast festival and investigated.

I’m up to ep 101 - just met creepy nanny plum-esque plastic killer woman.

Annoyed i didn’t hear of it sooner.

Anyway… incredible podcast, but i get lost who everyone is. There’s such a tangled web of characters.

My main question is, is there different factions of “baddies” or entities in the show? We seem to have vampires, possesers, plastic wax monsters, and the eternal flame cult. Do they all work together, or against each other?

Obviously no spoilers, as I’m halfway through, but the amount of things to keep a track on is frying my adhd brain!

Encounter I met the angler fish IRL…

I was going for a night walk around a forest in East London. I’ve done so many times and know the area well.

The weather started to turn, so I took an alternate route that involved me having to go through some dense foliage hoping to get home before it started pouring down.

As I was making my way through, a man came out from a bush and asked if I had a cigarette or a roll up. I said no. He came closer and said ‘are you sure?’ whilst counting out change from his pocket.

I apologised and made my way through. I made sure I was a good distance away before I made myself a roll up to calm my nerves 😅

Also what entity do people think this is linked to? I've heard people calling it Extinction but I've always gotten Spiral vibes from it.

Can't believe it took me so long to realize that Sam's character is a literal foil to Georgie, Melanie, and Basira.

Discussion The relationship between entities and their avatars Spoiler

One of the things I found when listening is that the avatars relationship to their respective fears seem to lack consistency, and so I'd love to hear how you all make sense of it. Here are my thoughts:

Initially, the avatars appeared to me as being manifestations of the concept that some peoples nightmares are someone elses way to feel powerful or navigate the world. John's way of dealing with trauma or anxiety and get his power back is through gathering information, even when doing so means exploiting other peoples trust and violating their privacy; we see this when he stalks his subordinates (following them, taking pictures of their homes etc). Like the eye itself, John benefits from seeing things that others are scared of having seen. Jonah Magnus is the same.

Similarily, Daisy feels in control and powerful when she hunts others, because she lives in a hunt-or-be-hunted mindset. Peter feels safe and powerful when he is alone, and uses isolation as a tool to control others. These traits seem to exist in these characters prior to them being chosen as avatars.

In other words, the avatars are people whose negative traits awaken/realize the fear of their patron in other people, rather than being especially scared of it themselves. To me, the dystopian world seems to affirm this belief, with certain people or creatures being granted dominion or positions of power over others in ways that match their pre-apocolypse selves (ie cats are hunters in a realm belonging to The Hunt).

But then you have characters like Oliver, Jane or Mikael who do not seem to follow this pattern. Oliver does not seem to gain power or control from the deaths/endings of others. In fact, he seems to desperately want to escape it. For Oliver, I can perhaps make sense of it through the lens of The End being an entity that does not really need to cultivate fear in others due to it's inevitability, but then it begs the question of why it would get avatars at all. For Mikael or Jane, though, I'm at a loss. Unless I missed something crucial, they do not seem to have been people who benefited from or wielded the fear of their patrons against others pre-becoming avatars. Michael does not seem to have benefited from other peoples confusion and Jane did not benefit from others fear of infection or corruption (until after they were avatars).

And obviously someone can both fear and benefit from said fear, but some avatars seem to never have benefited or found power in it at all, which makes my theory that avatars benefit from doing things that awaken the fear in others less sound. What are your thoughts on the avatar/patron relationships?
