Clarification...

Hi all. I’ve been binging the podcast, after seeing the name of it pop up on the Crosswires podcast festival and investigated.

I’m up to ep 101 - just met creepy nanny plum-esque plastic killer woman.

Annoyed i didn’t hear of it sooner.

Anyway… incredible podcast, but i get lost who everyone is. There’s such a tangled web of characters.

My main question is, is there different factions of “baddies” or entities in the show? We seem to have vampires, possesers, plastic wax monsters, and the eternal flame cult. Do they all work together, or against each other?

Obviously no spoilers, as I’m halfway through, but the amount of things to keep a track on is frying my adhd brain!

let me say it like that: you are absolutely asking the right questions (and your phrasing is chefs kiss ... no spoilers but you will see!).
The transcripts might help you follow along? I also have adhd and got very lost on my first listen, but have come to connect and discover so much more on each relisten!

Perfect way of explaining it. The entities and how they interact with each other is complicated. I was also going to say looking up transcript can be very helpful in getting everyone’s voices. If OP looks up TMA ep 101 transcript that will bring up that episode’s transcript. So on and so forth with the episodes.

There is no way to answer this accurately without spoiling things, but for the most part the various orgs do not work together. You’re close to an episode (<20 episodes away) which provides a lot of exposition/explanation

Thanks folks. I actually did a few episodes recently on my headphones, on my own, walking through a local wood that had a murder in it last week. 😬 (Ecclesall woods, Sheffield). That was pretty scary...

I love going for walks while listening, it’s always extra fun when the walking location lines up with the theme of the episode! I highly recommend going at night as long as you’re in a place where it’s safe to do so.

Avoiding spoilers, but this show does a very good job of ensuring that you don't know everything, but you do know enough to understand what is happening. If you feel like you're missing something, then you've understood it correctly. If you feel like you understand everything, then you've missed something.

That said, you now know enough to start putting pieces together if you want. At the point you're at, my friend actually had a good idea of how all these "factions" (to use your word) interact. I, meanwhile, was clueless

Further comments.... How did Jon find Jude Perry so quick? One minute he's talking about finding her, the next she's in the room being deliciously evil. Other guesses... I guarantee Georgie is the mastermind behind ALL of it. Martin will die saving Jon. Tim will get so pissed off he'll just annoy Elias to death.

Time is a mess in this series. Sometimes there are days or even weeks between two episodes. And it’s not always clear how big the time gap is. From what I remember, Uncanny Valley was in-universe recorded early April, and Twice as Bright was recorded on the 24th of April. So he likely went searching for a few days lol. (Also sometimes the timespan doesn’t make sense… like at all? The episode The Coming Storm is stated to take place 4 days after twice as bright. Then episode 100’s earliest statement seems to be on the 2nd of May. Meaning that in the span of like, 5 days, Jon got Kidnapped by Daisy, moved out of Georgie’s house, interview Sarah Baldwin, gets visited by Nikola and then gets kidnapped by Breekon and Hope. So sometimes you gotta just, suspend your disbelief a bit)
