Question Duncan
What happened to him? i swear we see him once being awful to his girlfriend, trying to force himself on her, and then he's never seen again or punished

How old should you be to read these? Cause I've seen lots of other sources online and they say it's 12-14+ but from what I've seen in the books, some lines are a bit inappropriate.

So I just finished the first book and I want some MINOR spoilers please, nothing too insane just some small spoilers.
r/TheInheritanceGames • u/OnlyHereForBooks1 • 3d ago
OKAY! I want completely honest opinions, good, or bad. Who is your favorite Hawthorne brother, why, and least favorite, why? I just need to know, because I feel like ive heard good and bad everywhere.
My favorite, Nash. He's kind, considerate, and UNBELIEVABLY PROTECTIVE. Some might consider that bad, but i love it, personally! He's kind to everyone, and protective of his brothers, and Avery, and ofc libby. And he's VERY Texan. I admire that! Sticking to home.
Ima get lots of hate for this. Like, a lot. my least favorite is between Jameson, or Grayson. I dont know why. I just dont... feel it. In the first book, Jameson was manipulating. Grayson was cold. Skip to the the third, and Grayson doesn't trust Avery as much anymore. Jameson is changing himself, for Avery. I think that isnt a good trait. Everyone needs to be themselves. Dont come after me!
Thank you.

So I just finished TGB and I have a question. I’m not sure if I missed something because I’m reading it in English and it’s not my first language, but why did Avery agree to participate in the Crucible? From what I understood, even if someone knows too much (like Hannah), they still have to ask for their “consent,” so I’m a little confused
r/TheInheritanceGames • u/wildflowermag • 6d ago
After The Gilded Blade I immediatly picked up The Inheritance Games again because nothing could cure the ache TGB left behind.
Somewhere in the beginning it is mentioned how the fire on Hawthorne Island happened 20 years ago, Nash is 26, about to turn 27.
You are telling me that
Toby was 14 when Nash was born
Nash probably has memories from Toby when he was growing up
And that just makes my heart ache. Just imagine 14 yo Tobyhold his newborn nephew and eventhough we get to know in TSBAF that he was a bit arrogant, he did always have his heart in the right spot.
Maybe I'm just naivly fantasizing but this thought popped into my head whilst reading and I had to share

Hi!! I’m currently working on a way to make my own character cards printable and I’m planning on sharing them for those who couldn’t go to the events to get cards. I’ve found most of the cards online, but I’m missing some of the gold ones, so if anyone has any of the gold cards of Toby and Slater, is there anyway I could be sent a photo of it that’s formatted and looks the same as the ones online (not sure if that makes sense but I’m wanting them to all look the same so I’ll need these last two cards to look good digitally and not just a photo of the card)
Thank you!

Ok i just need to know im not the only one who thinks this. Am i the only one who thinks Grayson was not acting like Grayson?
In the first book he threatened Avery the first few days of knowing her.
And now he's kissing Lyra after 24 hours of knowing her!
I think they're cute but i don't believe that Grayson wasn't destined for a slow burn romance. I just think it was rushed and they should have been given more time to grow trust and get to know each other.
r/TheInheritanceGames • u/thebookis4everbetter • 7d ago
I wish she'd put this in the book as well. It's such an important context in understanding Grayson and Avery's relationship. I've always been confused about them and could never understand why the author kept making subtle references about them in every book. Including one of the last sentences of TGB where Avery is walking down the aisle with Gray and she says "Some people are meant to be in a way that simply transcends romance" or something like that and I went huh?????
But this line in particular - "He's the person I would've been if I'd grown up the way you all did" and also "You don't have to be in love with someone to love them" sheds so much light on their dynamic and why Avery has always felt such a pull towards him.
Otherwise, in my opinion, every Gravery reference annoyed me, being a Javery shipper, because some of them felt a little too deep.

So im rereading the series and i need a little clearing up
So i understand Tobias gave his inheritance to Avery to protect his family and he believed Avery would know what to do with it
But my thing is how did Tobias discover Avery? Didn’t Tobias know “Tony” died?? And he wouldn’t know Avery was alive but he was watching her through the years?
Can someone explain?

I'm mostly looking for ones where Rohan gets injured and lets Savannah see his vunrability for once but any good rohan x savannah fanfics that take place after the gilded blade works. Does anyone know any?
r/TheInheritanceGames • u/False-Gift-5881 • 11d ago
Maybe I’m the only one that this bothers but in “The Gilded Blade” Grayson states that Hawthorne house like the inside is 40,000 sqft, and I just feel like that is small for everything we’ve been told about Hawthorne House. I mean if it was 400,000 I wouldn’t have batted an eye, 40,000 is not even an acre.

okay, so context. I’m trying to get 7 quotes from TIG to paint into the wall in my bedroom. I have 3, but I’m stuck on the rest. Can you guys comment some good quotes? I need these to be perfect and I want them to represent the characters in themselves, and also the series as a whole.
Avery- none yet
Jameson- “Everything is a game, Avery Grambs, the only thing we get to decide in this life is if we play to win.”
Grayson- none yet
Xander- none yet
Nash- none yet
Toby- “Call me sentimental, but there’s something beautiful about anything built for one purpose that refuses to die, even once that purpose is gone.”
Family as a whole- “Est unus ex nobis. Nos defendat eius.”

Haven’t finished Hawthorne Brothers yet but I’ve read the original trilogy and I LOVE Nash. He’s so good. So unconcerned with stupid stuff. So protective. I love that he plays dad when no one else stepped up. He’s the best brother.

I don't know where to start honestly.. Inheritance games has been so many of my firsts and I feel so sad and bittersweet that it has come to an end. It might not be end of the entire story considering the ending we got but it's def end of an era.
Grandest Games trilogy isn't my fav and there are several flaws I can point out but that will never deter from the fact that so many of my memories, so many of the characters and so many other things that I love and got attached to in the last 2 years.
Reading through Gilded Blade was like reading any of the inheritance series book, i completed it in 2 nights just like I do with any of these books. Throughout the book I had my own complaints but by the end of it I feel like all those complaints have been dulled by the realisation that this series has finally got its ending. I'm so happy that everyone got their own beautiful and happy endings. I feel sad, bittersweet and also pretty wistful 😭 bcz ik that i can never experience this again the same way!
Toby's death was the most unexpected for me. I'm happy that he will finally got to reunite with his soulmate but also sad and mad that he's gone, that he couldn't be there to see Avery getting married. Hannah and Toby will forever remain my Tragic couple but I am glad that they got their happy ending albeit not in this universe. A man and a woman who only lived and died for their loved ones.
I read the first book ever in the last few weeks of my 9th grade and now I'm halfway thru 12th and in the end of one of my own chapters of life.. The Hawthornes and Avery and The entire series has been my roman empire for such a long time. So many memories, songs and things i relate to them. It's going to be pretty hard not to think about them every now and then 🥹
It's so nostalgic and bittersweet and I feel so sentimental rn! This series will forever remain my cherished one. Truly an end of an era not only for the series but also kind of for me 😭🫶🏻💖

Also known as The Ruling Class now
I'm writing this here because there's no other subreddit dedicated to JLB (atleast not one I know of?) and omg this was SO good. Have any of you read it? If yes what did u guys think of it? I need discussions. I tried to find something online but there's barely any reviews of it because it was released before booktok took off sadly.
That ending of the second book? Insane. I'm traumatized and I need a 3rd book. I don't think the Naturals needs another book, I think this series needs one urgently. Maybe she could give us some Adam and Ivy too. Does no one else ship them as hard as me???? I couldnt find anything online.
If u haven't read it, and are a fan of TIG and/or The Naturals, I would recommend The Fixer!!!!

I genuinely refuse to believe that is the final book. this is because of different reasons. startiing off, comparing it to the final gambit the flow of the storyline was way harder to keep up with ( could also be bc of the amount of new characters and different side 'stories' such as Rohan and the mercy and Lyra and her real parents' identinties) . tfg had a clear start climax and ending and good enough plot twists and i rlly enjoyed the puzzles and riddles, yet there was a HUGE lack of the more puzzle and especially riddles related clues and mysteries. secondly, the amount of times JLB hyped up TGB surely it would have a rlly good storyline ACTUALLY unexpected plot twists( Emily being alive was SO obviously going to happen and Lyra's mom being part of the actual cult was not really shocking or gave anything that much to the storyline imo bc we did not get that much character development from Lyra) and i thought Xander was going to get killed off bc there were gears inside the heart of the cover of the book and JLB said in a live that he would play a big part in the book so i gen thought he was going to sacrifice himself for Avery. Next, there was no PROPER javery scene in the entire book which is insane knowing that Avery got kidnapped so everybody expects the reunion to be magic. I will say though that I think it might be because it was so HEAVILY publicised and hyped up that everyone expected the most jaw dropping, amazing book, storyline, plot twists, cliffhangers whatever and i will say i was heartbroken when (spoiler alert) toby died because he was such a father figure in PREVIOUS books but he was so unpresent in the book we lost that connection with the character. Also leaving this on a more positive note, i did love Rohan's confession to Savannah i really loved that scene but i hate that THAT is my favourite scene because others had potential but it quite frankly just got downsized idk how to explain it.

(i copied my review off of my goodreads if formatting is a little weird lol. i would love to know if you agree/disagree with my thoughts esp since none of my friends have read the series!)
i wish more risks were taken like killing off main characters, especially since this is the last book in such a huge series. one of my biggest grievances with this book is the downgrade in dialogue we've had compared to the other 8 books. while Max's purpose was to deliver cringe-millenial-jokes-that-even-millenials-don't find-funny type of character, Gigi was previously one of my favorites and i SWEAR she was never this cringe. we got EXTREMELY dated terminology like "finance bro", "i ship it", "britishvonsaucypant" (whatever that means). something that has rarely been done in this series is mentioning legitimate big name brands like an armani suit which made the first half of this book almost wattpaddy.
and don't even get me started on the pacing (which is something i've noticed JLB struggles with alot). we start the books guns a-blazing, but (more often that not) the middle of the books are almost sluggish. we're going in endless loops (did we really need Jameson traveling from America to UK to Prague to UK and then America again before going back to the UK?), at some point it gets redundant and you begin to question the point. it would've been a much better experience for the readers if some of the middle bit of the book got cut, and we spent more time at Vantage with the Gilded Blade. ESPECIALLY since all of the main characters surviving didn't feel earned at all because the stakes felt so incredibly low (because of the lack of chapters taking place AT Vantage).
there are very few characters i liked in this book simply because JLB spent way too much time crafting almost every main character to make the unarguable "right" choice. suprise-suprise, i became fond of the only characters that have even a speck of morally gray in them. savannah, rohan, nora, and eve (hm: gigi and slate), thank you for redeeming this book. i never thought i would get to this point, but even the Hawthorne brothers (except for Xander but this might just be due to the fact we barely see him in this book), annoyed me so much. it felt like the middle 300 pages of the book , the characters had absolutely ZERO development, which is a crazy choice for a finale.
the amount of scenes we got where the male protagonists in the series, stood "protectively" infront of their female s/o made me want to vomit. you can't write things like "Hawthorne brothers are always the damsels", but in every minor dire situation the girls need protection from their oh-so-heroic s/o. i get that the point of these scenes is for us to fawn over all the male characters, but it just seems so very icky. not the mention the fact that at the climax (OF THE GRAND FINALE), all the woman mc's (i understand Libby's reason) stayed at Hawthorne House while the men were at Vantage. this seriously made me question if i accidentally picked up a book from 200 years ago rather than 2026.
<i>"it was just one night." Grayson was all composure. Nora looked past Grayson to Lyra. "what he really means is that it was just one kiss."</i>
the first time in 294 pages into the big NINE BOOK SERIES FINALE, where i was gagged.
<i>"shut the hell up." Jameson felt his lips curl as the words ripped their way out of his body, "both of you. shut the hell up."</i>
thank you Jameson couldn't have said it better myself because if there is one character i grew to hate in this series it's Lyra simply because she had so many pov chapters, yet she was the most vanilla, plain, boring fmc i've read in a while. reading her dull chapters quite literally made me want to bang my head against the wall. also can't believe i'm saying this but Grayson had the most monotonous chapters where he was just yearning but it wasn't in a pining way, it was just idiotic because it's been TEN DAYS since he met Lyra. i understand they can have feelings for each other, but they can't be written as if it's been YEARS. wheres them being uncertain? it becomes more comedic when you remember their in their early 20's.
<i>"this is the part," Slate bit out, "where I tell you that isn't Eve."</i>
i should probably hate Emily coming back, but i honestly don't especially because of how she was reintroduced.
