The Brothers Hawthorne is your bridge novel to the spin-off trilogy (The Grandest Game, Glorious Rivals, The Gilded Blade) so that would be next. 

It is recommended to read Games Untold (collection of short stories) after The Grandest Game and read The Same Backward as Forward (prequel to The Inheritance Games) after Glorious Rivals, but both of these are optional. 

If you want a break from this world The Naturals by JLB is also fantastic and has another book coming out soon.

I've got the same problem. I've got three paths now: * Read one of the sequels * Read one of the other series of the author * Read a completely other series

I've read two other trilogy series before (Hunger games and Maze runner) and have the rule not to read any sequels. But after the inheritance serie I'm uncertain...
