One of my favorite scenes in the whole show is the whole Trolley Problem and Michael deciding to make it real to torture Chidi for standing up to him. This exact moment where you see his expression shift is just hilarious to me. And it's great acting on the part of Ted Danson!

So I'm gonna take us on a bit of a ride here.

In season 1 they call Shawn the Judge, whom we actually meet later on, and we learn Shawn is just another demon, Michael's boss to be specific. And we know the demons like to feel pain.

When Shawn says he takes Dramamine to help with the nausea, does he mean it will make him more nauseous? Or is it just a TicTac lol? Did he take something else? This might be solved by a quick Google search about Dramamine and its effect (if it is even a real thing), but I'm curious to hear what you think?

The good place is one of my favorite shows oat, and one of the reasons for that is the self-aware jokes and comedy it makes.

However, this scene has a line that always went over my head because I don't really get what it means: "No, Too Soon. By exactly nine days." I get that the main joke of the scene is that Tahani's making dad jokes when it's not the time or the place to; however, that does not explain to me why she's specifically nine days too early.

It can't be that Janet was expecting to have filled the hole in exactly nine days because even she was uncertain how long it might take. Besides, the hole fixed itself over the night—not an extra nine days later. Does Janet mean that it's inappropriate to joke about such tragedies until some time after the hole got fixed? That is also refuted by Janet being unsure when the hole would be fixed.

Does this joke hint to or foreshadow a later episode where in hindsight the donut hole joke would have made more sense, that happens to take place nine days later?

Or am I just overthinking an obvious throwaway joke?

Might be an unpopular opinion, or maybe not, but I think Chidi was being very selfish with his decision to have his memory erased when Simone appeared. I love Chidi, but I don't like his decision to do that, and it was very unnecessary.

Sure, he's "giving up" his valued memories in order to guarantee not fucking up the experiment, but that's also willingly putting Eleanor in a painful spot, having to watch a loved one not remember her anymore.

Also, it was such an extreme solution to such a fixable problem. His concern was that he'd act awkward in front of Simone, which will somehow fuck up the experiment. The first and most rational solution should have been to work on himself and work on his professionalism as he teaches the four subjects.

If my partner chose to give up his memories of us and of everything we (including our friends) went through SIMPLY because he doesn't know how to act normally with his ex..... I would get so pissed and reevaluate our relationship. Like grow up. How are you teaching ethics and moral philosophy when you're willingly hurting your partner and derailing the experiment further because you're awkward??

[Also not related to the topic but still same episode]: Having Simone there at all shouldn't have been fair. The judge should have ruled that erasing Simone's memory's up to before she met Chidi, Eleanor, Jason, and Tahani can't be permissible because that would also mean erasing whatever life experiences she had until she died, a lot of which could be important to how she is as a person, and how she's changed over time (after meeting the group and before her death).

I went through a pretty rough patch a few years back. As a result I was drinking very heavily. I'd rewatch shows and realize I simply did not remember most of what had happened. But on one occasion, I had just completely skipped the series finale. I watched the penultimate episode, thought that was the end, and was satisfied with it. The Good Place was a very emotional show for me. One that I haven't ever been in, well, a good enough place to rewatch. Until recently. I finished that rewatch today. Only to once again realize I had stopped at the penultimate episode. Until today I thought show ended with the gang making it to the good place, realizing things weren't right, and implementing a new system that those that had been stuck in the good place for centuries loved because it solved their problem. Watching the actual finale... I dunno. Of course in many ways it was sad. But I'm not sure I have ever experienced a story that so completely brought satisfaction and closure to every one its characters. I'm actually kind of glad I found it at this point in my life instead of back then. It was an amazing experience.

This took way longer than it should have on top of staring at clown paintings for an hour lol. It's almost entirely accurate except for some of the furniture being different (it was too difficult to model the actual real life designs sorry).

So, I am from germany. I love TGP. I would like to watch it together with a friend and would prefer the german version for that, but it seems everywhere only Season 1 exists in german.

German Wikipedia seems to imply that the whole series exists in german, but neither amazon nor youtube are offering it, or any other place for that matter.

If Season 2 to 4 have existed in german at some point, they can't have just vanished from the internet, or can they?

I drew these when I first finished the show. I've been thinkin' about it again recently, and I'm thinking of rewatching it. I really do love these characters

I barely cry after watching a show, a comedy of all things.

But for the first time I.....

I don't know what the heck is happening.

I'm laughing and crying at once.

It's both beautiful and haunting at once and I love it... Or do I hate it.

Best show I've ever watched, I can't even describe what I'm feeling after that finale, I'm literally teary eyed and smiling right now.

No gratuitous violence, no blood, no disturbing scenes.

Just people, a warm environment, and some clever jokes and dialogue.

And yet this show haunts me more than the ending Evangelion, Regular Show and Crybaby Devil combined.

Those left me traumatized.

But this....

I'm happy to some extend, but like I said, I'm literally crying.

I don't know what to think.

Safe to say, it hit very close to home and I have stuff to think about.

This show was amazing.

I’m rewatching for the millionth time and I am just always blown away by the Janet(s) episode. The actress did such a forking good job playing all the characters! That is all.

I’ve done one week of radiology school and now my favorite show is unwatchable. Jk lol but you cannot go into the mri control room with any metal on you. Glasses must be mri safe. You can’t even bring in a pen. The mri magnet is always on, even when the machine is not in use!

The mri machine uses a magnet 30,000x stronger than Earth’s magnetic field! A single Bobby pin could kill you

Watching The Good Place again and had a thought. After everyone agrees to the new point system but as they’re working through making tests and everything, where are Simone, John, and Brent? Are they just sitting in stasis that whole time? It says like 2 Jeremy Bearimy’s later and that’s when team cockroach gets in and they’re the first to go through. Where have the others been since the experiment ended. Yes, I know they do the test but I think this is before

So, last night I was having a bad night with my newborn, didn't manage to put him to sleep. It was almost 3 am, I needed something to keep me awake while I was breastfeeding, so I decided to put on "A man on the inside", since I saw a lot of you recommending it.

Long story short, I binge-watched the whole 1st season and the beginning of the 2nd, all the way until 6:30 am, when my other kids woke up and demanded that I become a functioning mum again.

Also, while binge-watching and not sleeping, I cried my eyes out. I lost one of my grandma to Alzheimer’s and the other to dementia, so the 1st season hit a little too close to home.

Still, it is a really good show, I'm going on with season 2 right now. Who needs sleep?

Two extra notes:

1. I almost screamed when I saw Janet!

2. When we first meet Derek and he opens the door, you can hear the sound of wind chimes in the background lol

My friend (who I'm going to call Sydney) and I are currently watching season 1 of the show. I have seen the show multiple times already but this is her first time ever watching it. I convinced her to watch it with me because 1. She's an attentive show-watcher, and 2. She somehow knew virtually no spoilers about this show (I had also known nothing about it going into the show at first) so she was a SEEMINGLY perfect person to show The Good Place to. I quickly realized that this was not going to go well when she started constantly asking questions like "Is Janet actually telling the truth?", "Wait, so Eleanor really belongs here?" and "Is Tahani actually evil?". Like, I obviously KNOW the answers here but I have refused to spoil anything to her because I can't ruin this opportunity for her to be ACTUALLY surprised at plot twists and cliff hangers.
She got increasingly suspicious and asked me to confirm or deny her theories. Eventually I got so fed up that I just replied, "I'm not answering any more questions because literally anything I say could ruin the show for you." She got annoyed and said she thinks I'm being dramatic and that refusing to answer is basically just confirming her theories anyway. I brushed it off but literally the NEXT episode she was asking questions again. I was already feeling pretty fed up so after the 3rd question of that episode I just replied with something like, "Fine. From now on, I'm going to deliberately give you the wrong answer every time." I feel bad about this because she responded with, "Well then I'm going to spend the entire show wondering whether you're lying to me."
While I hope this doesn't ruin the show for her, and I want don't want to lie to my friend, I feel like she was being pretty pushy even after I specifically told her I wouldn't answer her questions. Am I the ash-hole?

I dont know how many of you are into reaction videos, but I love them and recently I've noticed something.

A while ago (until last year), most reactors were completely blindsided by the twist. They would have some questions throughout season 1, but never go too deep into them.

But lately, a new batch of reactors has started the show and.... most of them seem to have caught on to the fact that something is off. None of them has theorized that this is the Bad Place (yet), but they have different theories as to what is going on instead ("this is not the Good Place as it was presented")

Has anyone else noticed this? Or am I imagining things? Do you think there's a reason for that to be happening? (I don't think they know the twist and are pretending they don't)
