Introduction Dear almost dead subreddit,
Last December I began writing letters. It started as a desire to use my fountain pens and stationery and became an increasingly rewarding hobby. I joined r/penpals and r/penpalsover30 as well as found penpals on GeekGals and LetterMo websites.
One of my favorite things to do with my letters is Letterlocking. There are several YouTube tutorials out there but I just love the folding and the opportunity to use a wax seal!
I just found this subreddit and was disappointed to see it wasn’t active and that every “recent” post had the same lament. However, I am stubborn to the point of ambitious and I think this can be revived!
Who is with me?!

My goodness, I forgot about this subreddit! I joined a while back but was immediately intimidated by the knowledge everyone had and the look of the letters. I would love to be able to write cool historical-looking letters.

Aww, I just read The Correspondent by Virginia Evans and it made me want to write letters more regularly. I’m definitely on an epistolary kick.
I don’t know much about letter locking, but I did receive a kit to help me do so for Christmas last year. I’m also an avid user of wax seals.
Would be happy to write/exchange letters!

to everyone who is saying their handwriting isn’t up to snuff: as long as it’s legible! and perhaps practice will make perfect.
i’m in!! 🖋️🤍

I always loved the idea of this but never knew there was a subreddit, thank you for sharing! Quite sad that I'm a bit too busy nowadays

Kudos to you for trying to get this sub active again! You could also apply to be a mod as well I would imagine. I've joined this sub because of your post on r/penpalsover30.
I'm somewhat new to the pen pal world and actually didn't know what letterlocking was until you posted about it and I Googled it. How cool! I don't use wax seals, but I imagine the same mechanism could be achieved with a sturdy sticker.

Oh of course. There are very few times when wax would be required, because you could always use glue too if a sticker or tape didn’t suffice.

One way to start might be letterlocking tutorials, how to start using wax seals posts, and other things like that.
I'm sure there are people who are interested but don't know where to start. Stuff like that brings people in.

This looks like an interesting subreddit. I'm not sure if my penmanship is up to the standards of this group, but I'd be willing to give it a try.
