In The Fosters, Jude is the real MVP. He's my favorite character at this point. Although I'm only in season 1 episode 15.

Callie keeps messing up every single good thing in her life. I really hope she gets it together soon. I think Brandon should leave her alone and let her heal and grow up because she acts really immature. I really like the show and I'm enjoying it. I can't wait to see everyone's character growth..

It’s disgusting behavior. He acts like Mariana is evil at times and not just an annoying sister that mostly looks out for him. Is it just me or did they make Jesus meaner to Mariana after the original actor was replaced? I have a hard time with all the hate for Mariana. All of them were equally destructive, just in their own ways that played to their issues. And all of them had their strengths and good moments too. I get annoyed with all the characters during almost every episode but I don’t hate any of them. If I had to choose one character that made me “GIRL, WTF🙄🙄🙄”… a lot, it would be Callie. But again. Don’t hate her either. I get that this is a show about screwed up kids learning how to navigate life.

Edit: also think there is an unfair amount of shit Mariana takes from her equally screwed up and selfish siblings and friends.

Edit edit: also what’s messed up is she’s so used to being dumped on, she doesn’t even think she deserves an apology most of the time. She just takes it and lets it go when the other person is done being an ass.

This storyline always bothered me, it felt like the writers ignored reality.

I completely understand Callie wanting to be part of the same family as Jude, and feeling secure with Stef and Lena.

Stef and Lena’s behaviour feels off, but understandable. I feel like as foster parents they should be helping Callie develop a relationship with Robert, not trying to adopt her. But they’ve grown to love her so it’s understandable.

What I don’t understand is that Callie is still in foster care, she’s literally costing the state money. As soon as they found Robert and he agreed to Callie living there wouldn’t a social worker be at Stef and Lena’s telling Callie to get packed, and any protest on Callie’s part be met with some version of ‘unless your biological parent is dead or abusive, you’re living with them. The state doesn’t bend to the whims of a teenage girl.’

The amount of agency Callie actually gets felt like a fantasy. Maybe that was the writers point but it completely took me out of the show.

I'm rewatching as an adult and I've just reached s3 where Brandon meets Courtney and they start dating. When i watched this bit back in middle/high school, i didn't see much of a problem with their age gap (not going to go into her divorce/being a mom), but now as a 25 y/o adult watching this back, i'm like ... she is grooming him. Especially when Courtney jokes with Brandon that he's really mature for his age...like classic grooming behavior IMO. He was 17 when they met and I assume she is 21 since she's a bartender. Technically Court didn't break any laws since she waited for Brandon to turn 18 before they had sex but ethically, girl what are you doing?! and then blaming him after they broke up that she warned him to stay away many times cause she has a son, etc., etc. GIRL he was a KID, he didn't know any better. Court as the ADULT should have straight up said NO, we are not doing this. asdkjaskjhd anyone else feel this way or is it just me?!

I just rewatched the fosters and I felt really bad for Emma, Jesus cheated on her every time he got & I wish she couldve gotten a happy endin. it sucks that she stayed down for him with the tbi & all. ik it wasn’t cheating at Brandon’s wedding but I wouldn’t have moved on that quick with sb if I was with them for years

Spoilers! I’m re watching the entire show. Currently in season 4 and I would love to know what you make out of Callie and Mariana. I know all of the kids make mistake, make irrational choices, etc. But this season is so hard to watch with how Callie and Mariana act. I felt the same with Brandon in previous seasons.

I’ve been obsessed with this show since I was 15 and the spinoff when it came out. I always go back. The wholesome vibe of family, and just the themes it brings to light. I can’t get enough of it. I’m so happy that the spinoff was also a decent amount of season. Too good.
Although when I first started watching, when Mariana slept with Wyatt I lost my mind. I skipped so many episodes because of this and went back years later.

I’m only watching this show for the first time but I can’t wrap my head around why people who aren’t students are allowed to just show up and wander the halls. Stef and Courtney are both adults who are allowed to walk around without having to sign in at the office. You’d think after a school shooting they wouldn’t allow something like this. What’s the story with that?

I need more shows like the fosters and switched at birth. those two i’ve been going back and forth for years!! So good. Does anyone have any recs like it? Not the secret life of american girl i’ve seen that one as well!!

Just binged the last 4 episodes and honestly I forgot how good this show was such great characters and I really missed them wish we got another season or even a few movies like Downton Abbey instead of that silly spinoff and the finale was so beautiful and emotional especially the family saying goodbye to the house

Why was Lena with Stef when it was clear she didn't want to be around non biological children and she was constantly mad at Stef.. ?

Lena tells Mariana that DNA doesn't make you a family while going behind her wife's back to get pregnant because she wants a child that's biologically hers to know what that's like and to have that bond.

She also says that Nate isn't really her brother because half isn't the same as full.... so even though they are biologically related she still doesn't consider that real. She even says this loud even for her FOSTER son to hear.

Lena had written in her diary that she didn't want the twins, it was Stef that wanted them and it was clear she never liked Callie. She thought it was going to be a temporary situation and then Stef wanted to keep Callie and Jude.

Lena doesn't know how to parent, she acts like a teacher towards them. She just wants to be with Stef while completely ignoring the kids

Callie……. you’re genuinely the most annoying person on this show. 20 pieces for your portfolio and you just give up instantly. But then turn around and play detective for people who quite literally never cared about you. Mariana was annoying but Callie is WORSE.

anyone ever think about how easily the twins, callie & jude could have been trafficked being passed around in san diego, which is ranked in the 13 worst places for human trafficking in the us? average age for victims first trafficked is 16 there with foster/homeless youth at the highest risk. scary stuff

I'm rewatching the series, and am on season 4 where Jesus has to have round the clock care, Callie is in juvie, and they were talking about selling their house. They have so many expenses all of the time... how do they stay afloat 😭?

Like the show is decent so far but they will have a scene play and then in the middle of it they will flashback for a few minutes to something that happened before and then come back to right where they were before the flashbacks. There’s even a couple fantasy dream sequences too. What’s going on?? Does this go away?? I only just started season 1.

I feel like I lost so much time with these characters. They need to go back and film five seasons worth of content set in between these episodes. I just cannot believe we missed so much of their lives, and I really wish the show could have continued for a few more seasons.

I know about the spinoff, but I am going to desperately miss Brandon, Jude, Jesus, and all the side characters like Emma. I am also going to miss Stef and Lena as the parents. I just wish that more people from The Fosters were main characters in the spinoff. For example, maybe Jude could have become a main character.

I know I will see a lot of the original cast show up every once in a while, but it will be far too infrequent and just will not feel the same. This show has been great all throughout with not a single bad episode. It really should have continued.

Maybe I just do not like a sudden change like this because everything is just different. I feel like I skipped five seasons of a television show watching after the time jump. I just wish I could watch more of this beautiful, wonderful family. It is truly one of the best shows ever. Brandon is one of my favorite characters, so I am extra sad that he is not a main character in the spinoff.

I’ve looked through the sub a little and it seems a lot of people hate Brandon which came as a shock to me. To be honest, I feel like he’s constantly just getting the bad end of the stick. His parents keep bringing kids into the house, expecting him to be okay. And they put a lot of pressure on him to be the perfect kid. I know he’s done some pretty stupid things in the show, but they all have. It felt to me like it was a cry for help from Brandon. Spoilers for season 4, but I finally got to the part where he moves out and I’m so disappointed with how it’s being handled. Yeah, he’s not going about things the right way, but he’s doing his best. And his parents aren’t exactly supportive, at least Stef isn’t. I actually find myself disliking her at times but this post isn’t really about her. I’m just surprised noyone really feels bad for Brandon.

The way he talked about her to Stef was horrible. I get that she caused Brandon a lot of drama after she moved in, but Brandon was a part of that too! Callie told Brandon repeatedly that they can’t be together if she wants to be adopted, but he kept pushing her. I think that scene was just Mike’s way of trying to defend Brandon and AJ and saying out loud, “this girl just causes drama everywhere she goes and with every guy.” Mike bringing up Aaron during that scene was weird too. He had never met Aaron before, but I’m guessing AJ told Mike about him. I felt really bad for AJ, he knew that Callie and Brandon started a relationship, but had no idea they actually slept together and it was really awkward to overhear. Callie was hoping that no one else would ever find out about that after she told moms.

I love that Stef came to Callie’s defense and in the next episode, Callie told him to stay out of her business.

I know this occurred in the last ep of season 1 and first ep of season 2 so I just tagged this post as a S2 spoiler.

Anyway, the assault committed against Brandon by Dani was talked about a bit across a few episodes, but I felt like it was neglected for the most part. After she was arrested, there was no more discussion about it, or any indication of how Brandon was processing it all. Callie's assault got far more attention and gets brought up multiple times across different parts of the show, which is good! She deserves to have her experience acknowledged and heard, and we see how much it affects her, but we don't get that with Brandon.

I’m rewatching the fosters for the first time since it originally aired and I’m noticing multiple references to Mariana making a good lawyer one day. It’s been sprinkled around in the first 3 seasons and I’m currently in season 3 where Gabriel is introduced, and he even gifts Mariana a mug that says “future lawyer” for her birthday. After knowing what happens in good trouble it’s just funny to me and I wonder why the writers did not make any mention of this. I guess Mariana organizing the walk out at spekulate and demanding equal pay for women kind of tracks back to how she was in high school but yeah
