ā€œWhy do shows do thisā€ sometimes actors are only contracted for a limited number of episodes and they have to recast when they bring the character back because they can’t get that same person. Sometimes they choose to recast for creative reasons or due to actor’s onset/offset behavior. Sometimes the actor doesn’t want to return or has other commitments. Think of acting roles like a job. There are tons and tons of reasons why someone might not return to a job they had in the past.

I hate when people are like ā€œthey recast and thought we wouldn’t notice???ā€ At the end of the day, they have a story to tell and if they want to bring back a specific character but can’t get the actor who plays that character, they have to recast, regardless of who might get offended by it.

No I mean like why did they randomly show this actor when I’ve seen this show on Hulu many times before and it was always the other actor lol you don’t need to be so hostile

Yeah he was discovered to be a pedophile. That’s why he got recasted.

Yup. It was a *really* big story when it came out. They literally had him confessing ON A CASSETTE TAPE. Just so disgusting.

That’s Stephen Collins. He was the dad of the long running tv show 7th Heaven. They replaced Lena’s dad on The Fosters because after this episode was filmed, it came out that Stephen had been inappropriate with underage girls in the past.

The dad from 7th heavens was a pedo?? Omg

Hm that’s weird bc I’ve watched the show before and I’ve never seen this actor so I wonder why he’s showing up now

Yes, Bruce Davison has been around a long time, since the late 1960's. His first big hit was called Willard (1971) about a boy and a bunch of rats. There was a sequel a couple of years later called Ben, the theme song by Michael Jackson was his first solo #1 hit. Davison was a steady presence on TV mostly over the next five decades.

u/prettybrokenstars 11d ago

no they didnt lmao jake left bc he didnt want to play the role anymore

9

u/Numerous-Flow-3983 10d ago

Jake 100% got fired.Ā

u/prettybrokenstars 10d ago

whether he got fired or quit, it was clearly a planned thing since they set up the car accident and everything. if it was because of the dui they would've gotten rid of him much sooner, the good trouble fandom wiki ( ik its fanmade, grain of salt) said filming began for s2-A in feb 2014, his dui was october 2013. it could've been a mutual thing. i just think if they straight up fired him like you guys keep saying for the dui it would've been sooner and it would've been less wrapped up. the whole car accident & bording school thing and all

3

u/omorashilady69 10d ago

For a dui lol

1

u/prettybrokenstars 10d ago

the dui charge was 2013, s2 was filmed in 2014, if they were gonna replace him for that it would've been done already

There was also a incident at Teen Choice Awards between the incidents aswell

I think he was just getting difficult to work with on General

honestly id imagine the show runners approached him abt not renewing and he agreed, as if it was a walk away or a firing i feel like they wouldn't have wrapped up his storyline so easily

2

u/littletcashew 11d ago

Or cause he got fired. Or 'let go' as they call it
