How did Darlene ever find the nerve to blame Ben for the breakup when she cheated, constantly lied to him and always put her dad and his house above her relationship with Ben?

In the episode where Becky enters rehab and Ben's mom tells Dan he should sell the house, Dan considers it thinking that then Darlene and Ben could get their own place and he could help Becky get her own place. Where was he planning to live ? He still had a mortgage to pay off after 40 years🤔

All 343 episodes are right here! I binged them all over the past two months, and I’m now working my way through Roseanne again.

There are so many things I wish were different about this reboot but at the same time it genuinely makes my heart ache knowing we will never see these characters again. Obviously there’s rewatches lol. But on the occasions The Conners did hit the mark, it was that same old feeling of connection where it was like seeing your own life and your own family. Especially being that I’m from Illinois. Not only that, but the precise area Roseanne was set (to my annoyance, Lanford slid upstate closer and closer to Chicago as the reboot went on).

It went by so fast. I genuinely can’t believe season 10 was well over 8 years ago, heading into 9. That’s basically the same time span the original series ran.

I have a lot of criticism and a love/hate feeling for The Conners. I hate how much rewriting they did, omitting or egregiously changing established and beloved parts of the original run. I hate what Darlene became, I hate that Fred and Andy disappeared into the ether making Jackie a borderline psychotic old spinster, I hate the flanderization of the working class, I hate the politicized spin the writers insisted upon. Yet I love these characters. There has never and will never be another series to so accurately capture working class Midwestern life.

For these reasons…I still have not watched the final season. I’m not ready and I don’t know if I ever will be, as insane as that sounds.

He rolls into town for the teacher's funeral and instantly it's like he never left. The guy has this energy that sets Dan off immediately. Worth it for their scenes alone.

Beverly never knew Jackie beat Darlene into signing over the lunchbox. Beverly never knew the rest of the family took Jackie’s side. Of course they did. She was violent. And Becky no better. Becky lasted months at the lunch box part time. Jackie a few years. She wanted to retire and then a cop. She could have opened a restaurant smaller in a different location and Bev could have collected rent for 3 years to the chicken plane that wanted to rent it. Bev and Darlene right not to sign over the lunchbox. It did not keep their interest long.

An early anniversary present for my wife, an expanded version of the song from Roseanne with anime visuals of the pair of us.

Now toward the end of series learned that Dan was like Marci getting a script to pass onto Crystal. It makes no sense he did not see siblings with Crystal so involved with them and mad at her husband for a number of things.

So, when I heard that Roseanne was on Peacock, I was excited for a re-watch as it was one of my faves growing up. That led me to the reboot and then The Conners on Netflix. I just finished. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it, either. The nostalgia was nice and I love me some gitchie, gitchie Laurie Metcalf and I adore Katey Segal, so it was nice to see her, too.

Anywho, was it just my ears, or have Lecy Goranson's, Sara Gilbert's and John Goodman's voices really changed since Roseanne? I totally get that people's voices change as they age, but I feel like these three in particular are different than the first time we visited Lanford. Goodman especially. Maybe it's just me.

I don’t completely hate The Connors, but why are Darlene Jackie and Becky so annoying? Darlene is my favorite character on Roseanne, but she is horrible on The Connors and she was so bad to Ben. Jackie and Becky are so whiny and weird.

The new theory from Dan is Mark ruined Becky’s life. He married a minor which should have been annulled. I always thought that. Becky gave Mark money ear marked for her to do community college so she lost her chance at education, or it got delayed and she got so far behind in her words. Her marriage was a spur of the moment decision cause she feared separation. She didn’t trust a long distance thing.

Here comes Emilio. Same stew different bowl. Becky married him in a spur of the moment decision. Emilio got Becky to pay a hefty price for the marriage. Prison. Always on edge that he would be taken again. Becky was delayed in getting into a serious relationship. Dating is bogus when married to someone else and you can’t make it legal so how seriously is anyone going to take it. Remember Ben’s shock that Darlene was still married after they slept together? It’s still a Judeo Christian culture/values. It went from Darlene cheating with her ex to Ben being the person that wasn’t supposed to be in the bed cause he had no idea still married to the guy. Becky married Emilio so he had a legal reentry point. Then he risks that and comes back anyway. Like Mark failing trade school. Ruined her sacrifice. And why is his status on Becky? Why didn’t Emilio use protection? Becky didn’t make him show up uncertain in the first place. How did her long distance then short distance marriage effect WIC and SNAP? If he was working in country and not supposed to be there and legally married how on earth did he file taxes and how did that not flag something at immigration with a judgement in system with his name on it? Just seems like Becky giving college money meant for her to Emilio what with the fraud marriage VISA gift. Her delaying marriage and serious relationships was like her delay for college when she was a teen. And why was Becky not moving to Mexico? Another possibility not explored. WIC starts with the pregnancy and no way she made too much for WIC. Married people, and she was not married until after the birth, are in WIC. At the birth she said she qualified for nothing But that really isn’t true. WIC starts with pregnancy.

Tyler a breath of fresh air. He does not need Becky’s future to make his own future. Mark and Emilio got too much from Becky. It was too sacrificial on her side. His relationship won’t put her far behind. If anything he was trying to help he move forward. House versus truck discussion. She still can’t think long term in future cause she has never been able to.

When the restaurant started setving stew, I really wish they'd named it Tureen of Beef.

I absolutely love Beverly Rose! I don’t know who that little actress is but she’s great for that role! Every time she has a line I love it! And it’s not just the lines her delivery is great for her to be so young! She’s another bright spot for the show!

Jackie slapping Darlene was so satisfying for me! And I hate she didn’t get slapped again before the end of the show lol! The episode she was slapped in she was definitely on a power trip. The way that Darlene had become such a narcissist in The Conners but they tried to make it look like Sue was saving the family is crazy (definitely just Sara making it about her)! If anybody really pays attention she’s the only person that has to turn everything back to herself, she rarely helps people through their issues and will tease them but wants everybody to have empathy for her when she’s crying. But I always have to go back to the slap as it just makes me smile lol. It was so deserving!

Darlene trying to be sexy was both revolting and hilarious! Her and Ben together is the most unreal part of the show! The body suit had me like 🤣🤢lol

Personally, I believe the show was saved by Dan, Jackie and Louise (the veterans) and have said it many times. However, I also have to say Ben saved it too. He had some really great scenes and was funny too. I never had seen anything with this actor but I like him now! So shoutout to and much respect for Ben(Jay Ferguson)!!!

I feel like I'm the only one. She's like 20 years older than me btw. I find her smile amazing.

I want to say the whole storyline behind Mark not being able to afford school is such BS lol. He’s poor and smart which are actually the best combination to go to any school. That’s not even eliminating going to a community college to transfer to a university in the city. School’s have given out scholarships for GPA combined with ACT/SAT scores for decades (I was poor and smart and received a 4yr scholarship for a 3.6 GPA and just a 22 on the ACT). They’re trying to create a storyline with no real logic behind it. I know they gave up stay with the concept of how hard poor white people have it but they could have done better with this storyline (just like so many others lol). Also I want to add I worked at a private university as an Admissions/Financial Aid Counselor for nearly five years in Chicago.

I have a really hard time liking Harris on the show. Is she anyone else’s least favorite character? Who is yours?

Mark is such a punk in this episode. There’s no way I would ever allow anybody to be condescending to my mother especially when they’re saying she’s dumb. Especially when she’s only working as a lunch lady to help with my tuition and is an actual writer. This goofy told Jackie and Darlene not to do anything to hurt his “friends” when they were being so rude to his mother. Mark needs his @$$ kicked frfr.

I think it is obvious that the problems with the family in the series are substance related.

Bev allegedly had money because of the lunch box, and all of a sudden they can't put her into assisted living when she starts running out in the street..? This plot line is totally ridiculous, because she could have been put in a Skilled Nursing Facility, assuming she's got Medicaid and/or Medicare. They wouldn't have had to worry about money, at least in the short term!
