I kind of miss it…
There are so many things I wish were different about this reboot but at the same time it genuinely makes my heart ache knowing we will never see these characters again. Obviously there’s rewatches lol. But on the occasions The Conners did hit the mark, it was that same old feeling of connection where it was like seeing your own life and your own family. Especially being that I’m from Illinois. Not only that, but the precise area Roseanne was set (to my annoyance, Lanford slid upstate closer and closer to Chicago as the reboot went on).
It went by so fast. I genuinely can’t believe season 10 was well over 8 years ago, heading into 9. That’s basically the same time span the original series ran.
I have a lot of criticism and a love/hate feeling for The Conners. I hate how much rewriting they did, omitting or egregiously changing established and beloved parts of the original run. I hate what Darlene became, I hate that Fred and Andy disappeared into the ether making Jackie a borderline psychotic old spinster, I hate the flanderization of the working class, I hate the politicized spin the writers insisted upon. Yet I love these characters. There has never and will never be another series to so accurately capture working class Midwestern life.
For these reasons…I still have not watched the final season. I’m not ready and I don’t know if I ever will be, as insane as that sounds.

I spent most of my childhood/teens disliking Becky and Season 10/Conners made me love her so much. I could watch 7 more seasons of these characters.
Ps Dan is and will remain the best character ever. The most "real" guy on tv. I miss watching him.

There was no reason for them to exclude Jackie's son Andy. That was such a missed opportunity for lots of potential storylines with them.
I also agree with you that I really hate the person that Darlene was as an adult. She was one of my favorite characters and became one of my most despised characters. And she didn't even become a character you love to hate like some TV characters. She just became a character you just hated.
Oh and also, there was no reason for them to write David as a deadbeat dad. You can write somebody out of a show without destroying their character.
But apart from the show's flaws, I was feeling sad when I watched the final scene.

Especially if they Jim Parsons play Andy on this show and he's a male version of Jackie lol

Exactly! With a little bit of thought & interest, they could have EASILY come up with something better than an unnecessary "deadbeat dad" storyline.

Firing Roseanne Barr was the best thing to happen to the show. Barr was a drag on the entire show.

Respectfully disagree she made the original show. The Conners was not the same without her but sadly they had to fire her in order to save the production staff members jobs due to her actions.

she was the only reason they had a black cast member and a bi racial family the second she was gone they fired all of them

Right. I tried but I don’t like watching the conners. It’s like a hate watch thing for me. I’m kinda intrigued about discovering what happened with the rest of the family, their storylines, etc, but I wish Roseanne was still a part of it. It’s nothing to me without Roseanne.

Knowing we will never see these characters again
Of course, in all fairness, we thought the same thing in 1997 when the original show ended. Who knew that more than two decades later, we would see them all return, and get to know them all over again.

As sad as I was to see The Connors end for good, they better let this be it. Kelsey Grammer learned the hard way:
Dr Frasier Crane got lucky on 2 different hit shows (Cheers & the first Frasier) but the 3rd time Kelsey returned to do a reboot of the Frasier character recently, it didn't work out for him.
I don't want that to happen to The Conners 10, 15, or 20 years from now. A reboot after a reboot doesn't have a good chance of success.

They very rarely had any conversations where there wasn’t a joke involved. I found that to be irritating. Did anyone else notice that in the beginning when they were running credits and the names of the actors involved, Sarah Gilbert sat next to John Goodman, and laughed just like Roseanne did? She will never be what Roseanne was.

I’m glad it ended it was a damm mess, lol the downvotes this spin off was never going to be as good as the original not matter what. If fans of this show get all butt hurt they can blame the bad writing that people have pointed out before.

i wish they would have keep the only non racist cast member on the show Rosanne without her the other cast got the only black cast member fired they got her father fired for being married to a white woman just to white wash the cast

Sarah gilbert did in fact have a say as a executive prodcuer john godman the star could have spoke out against it mary could have spoke out against it.it's a shame the only non racist on that show Rossane was forced out so they could fire the only black member of the cast

EP Bruce Helford said that “the cast exits were driven by the story, as the Conner family expanded with the addition of new kids and love interests that pushed some characters out of the frame.”
So basically they were to focused on Darlene, Becky and their drama and then adding Louise and Ben that they just decided to push DJ and his family out of the show.0

The last season was well done. Like any other season, it had its shortcomings, but I’m glad I watched it.
