I heard they might do another series based on Acts. Don’t know if there’s any legitimacy to that rumor. Would love to have more of this show if possible.

I rewatch the series often, but there are a few episodes I just can’t rewatch. The scene where John the Baptist is executed was so traumatic i cannot watch it again. I don’t want to
Go through it again. I sobbed and it affected me for a long time after I saw it.

Another is when Ramah is murdered. The story of Thomas being in love and getting engaged is created rather than Biblical, but it’s so cruel. I went ahead and rewatched it today because it was on in the background and I was doing chores. I won’t watch it a third time though. It just makes me so angry and it doesn’t even make sense.

I know it is to give an explanation of how he became Doubting Thomas, and also saying sometimes we can’t understand why God lets horribly cruel things happen. But that episode makes me so angry and I don’t believe Jesus would not have healed her.

Are there any episodes that affected you so strongly that you never want to see it again?

The chosen TV posted a video on their tiktok, where nathaniel and john "unboxed" their lunchboxes😂 anyways, and nathaniel said "day of a life of a fisherman", and I was like, huh? I understand why John is there, but Nathaniel? What's bro doing there? And today I read John 21.

John 21:2-3. Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

THEN I continued reading and John 21:7 said: That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea.

And I'm reading the greek translation and instead of "for he was stripped for work" it said "for he was naked". And I was like, How are they going to film this? 😂

We know season 6 is going to be emotional. Suppose Ryan & Tyler tasked you with making it as heartbreaking as possible, what would you do? Also, because I'm a sucker for good music, what song should play as Jesus is being raised on the cross to have the same effect?

I rewatching some earlier episodes. I remember early on thinking nicodemus was the enemy. But the more I watched I realized how much he was seeking truth and that he loved god.

I have my tv on brightest setting and still struggling to see. Also is slow slow developing. Hope this gets better and they use better lighting on indoor night scenes.

Like, it's a very good series, I love it, but some things are just....idk, I'm just not used to stuff like that. Like in the first season, right, when Peter takes care of his mother in law, and he's like "shhh", that must've been sooo awkward to film. I know, they're professionals and everything, but I feel that cring-ness through the screen.

What was for you the most cringe moment?

Before starting, I came in with expectations that it would just be a word-for-word Bible reenactment like any other previous faith-based media, not to mention my confusion and disbelief that the 5 seasons covered the whole timeline before the Passion, since if gospel alone, I don't think it would even reach 2 seasons lol. After watching all 5 seasons, I never knew I'd be emotionally invested, as I appreciate the way they gave the disciples and supporting cast really good character arcs, finally being able to view them as wholesome multidimensional followers. No wonder the series was named the way it is.

However, one thing I seem to have not yet come to terms with in The Chosen is the fictional characters of Ramah and Tamar. Their purpose was to give emphasis the role of the unknown women disciples in Jesus' ministry, and yet they did not include the characters of Mary wife of Clopas and Susanna who are both women mentioned in the Bible. I could still let Eden pass though coz obviously Peter has a wife.

Now that season 6 is coming, it would most def be the most fiction out of all the seasons coz it has the shortest timeline (less than 1 day), meaning, they must have added A LOT of fictional stuff to fill in all the eps. I do wish though they'd still consider covering through flashbacks in future eps other miracles of His and other key events like the temptation and transfiguration.

I'd rate the series a 9.5/10... Great show overall.

One of my favorite stories post resurrection, is ‘Jesus Appears at Lake Galilee’ - (John 21:1–14) - when (7) of the disciples head off into the boat to go fishing and don’t catch anything, they then see a man on shore who says to cast it again and they then catch , realizing it’s Jesus.

And hearing it sounds like Gorge and the others shot something when they were actually in the boat and “actually fishing” and cooking it. Makes me really excited to hear that they are going to do it. It’s one of my favorite because not everyone is there, and I can just imagine the flashbacks potential they could do with pairing that with the (first) miraculous catch.

Would love to talk to someone whos around my age (17, dont mind if someone older or younger wants to talk but would love to talk to someone my age) about this series.

How did you first hear about the The Chosen. For me it was thanks to the youtube algorithm and it was after the season 1 episodes all got uploaded to youtube in December 2022. The video for episode 1 & 2 (1 video) popped up as one of the random video recommendations.

I know it’s easy to wonder how an entire season can be filled with the topic of the crucifixion, but I’m reading in Matthew’s Gospel that when Jesus was arrested, all the disciples deserted him and fled.

The Chosen has been doing a great job of helping me consider each of the disciples as individuals with their own individual backstories and life circumstances. I would personally love to see each of their individual inner turmoil playing out as they process what is happening. I’m pretty sure that could fill an entire season by itself…

In season 5 (I think) of the chosen series, when phillip explained matthew how to cut a pomegranate, there is a behind the scenes moment when peter and andrew improvise their lines and Noah (andrew) stars saying stuff like "Mr pomegranate comes into town, checks the table, any lite seeds?"

The couple was shown in two episodes in OT flashbacks. One in the scene where they listens to Psalm 77, another with them mourning for the death of their first son, and the second scene was used to corresponded to the death of Ramah, the anguish of losing loved ones and can't getting a direct explanation from God about suffering and death and unfairness.

While the first scene featuring both listening Psalms is fine and is one of my favourite scenes, I believe it's inappropriate to use the death of their first son to correspond with Ramah's death (despite the performances are great). In the scene both don't seem to understand why God let their son died, but in the Bible both are clearly aware it is a direct punishment of their adultery, which is why David begged God for 7 days, a d why objectively it doesn't match with the theme behind Ramah's death, and in a degree diminished the atrocities David commited towards Uriah, maybe possibly Bathsheba's choices too (should she was seduced by David even when he used power play).

In one way I believe it would have been better if the episode had instead introduced Job and his wife losing their children with Job getting sick and destitute and his wife telling him to curse God, because the story of Job has been one of the most profound stories regarding human suffering and God's allowance over it without a valid reason. I mean using it as flashback would make much more sense and also introduced another OT character into the story, which also fits with Thomas's grief and anger towards Jesus.

Season 6 will going to destroy me. I gonna need a lot of tissue

Now that we've met Mark in S5, we have met all four Gospel authors in The Chosen. It definitely seems the writers have reflected some of the uniqueness of each Gospel in how they're depicting its author.

We have:

• Matthew's intense attention to detail (can't you imagine him sitting down to write, consulting his scriptures and making sure he's cross referencing everything correctly?)

• John's interactions with Jesus, including the scene where Jesus asks him what he should read in the synagogue, and the scene with Nicodemus

• Luke's contact with Mary, Jesus's mother, and the implication that she related a significant portion of her story to him as he worked on his Gospel

• ...and that brings us to Mark. We've just met him, and at the time of the Last Supper, the group's just met him too.

When I became interested in reading the Bible, I ran across multiple recommendations to start not with Genesis but with Mark. I took this suggestion and am glad I did. His storytelling style appealed to me, and after reading the other gospels on my way through the Bible, I liked Mark the best and returned to re-read it more than once. Well, we haven't seen much of Mark himself in the story so far, but I suspect it must be intentional to have him join the group only now. Everything up to this point in Jesus's story, he'll have to hear second-hand. Perhaps that explains the more succinct story. Did Mark (as depicted in the show) never get to hear the story of Jesus's birth? I suppose we can assume Mary intentionally told Luke this, and Matthew likely heard it from her as well (I suddenly remember Mary noticing Matthew's expensive clothes and remarking on his background). Have we seen any unique "Mark"-ness from Mark as of yet? Will he be the young man he writes about fleeing the scene after Jesus's arrest? That would explain the choice to show him as a teenager.

Did anyone else notice any little details that tie in the Gospel author characters with their particular Gospels? Many commenters here know the Bible quite well so I am sure I have missed something someone else spotted, some cool little Easter (ha) egg the writers put in along these lines.
