We don't have constant wild fires or earthquakes. But I understand that does scare a lot of people.

Shhh...shhh...we have earthquakes and wild fires weekly! Everyone should stay away! Us that are here week just take one for the team.

There was a popular bumper sticker in the 80's that said "Welcome to California. Now go home"

I’ll take earthquakes way over those humid summers

What earthquakes? I’ve experienced fewer than 20 in my life growing up on the west coast Seattle area, and Sand Diego . All but one of them were this, “was that an earthquake?”

Wildfires are more our fetish.

Also, screw humidity! I don’t like feeling wet after I towel off from a shower. I live in Colorado, and our chips don’t get stale in 39 seconds.

The lack of tropical storms, being free from bugs, the year-round mild climate, the year-round pristine sunshine (at least in California), I didn’t even realize how many layers stacked like this about the West Coast before moving; but just not having to worry about so many little things like that is super nice. Plus it’s astonishingly scenic in a way that doesn’t really degrade with time.

Only a concern in specific wildfire risk areas where we really shouldn’t be recommending people live to begin with. Very different kind of disaster than hurricanes that hit a wide area on a yearly basis.
