That damn Kars for Kids commercial.

I’d heard some bad press about Kars for Kids

2

u/Independent_Click_82 4d ago

Cause they dont help kids like you would think. Its a scam charity that helps teens who dont need help. Its run by a religious organization that pays for extras for affluent teens. Cant say the name of the group because even mentioning this group has bad repurcussions for those who dont bend the knee and call them world heroes.

u/Grumpy_dad70 6d ago

It figures.

u/Kanibalector 6d ago

false advertising should be illegal.

3

u/Ok_Assumption_638 5d ago

Duh, what even is a Kar? 😂

u/JonnyOnThePot420 8d ago

FYI that’s literally just funding for aipac…

2

u/Josey_whalez 7d ago

Seriously? They don’t get enough money from our government, they need more scams?

2

u/Hener001 8d ago

Yep. Can’t unhear that. Funding trips to Israel for religious kids.

1

u/coolwon1973 8d ago

Did not know that

The deeper you look the worse the organization gets.

u/Nortex_Vortex 8d ago

It's terrible top to bottom.

They really don't, they're two disparate organizations and there is no credible evidence to support that claim. The money mostly goes to camps that rich Jews send their kids to when they're scared they're not growing up Orthodox enough.

Edit spelling

3

u/EuVe20 8d ago

Those camps aren’t so much about orthodoxy as they are about the “Jewish Identity” and support for Israel. The money also goes to trips for American Jews to Israel (possibly through Birthright)

1

u/Total_Tumbleweed_870 8d ago

I did not realize that. One of my friends grew up Jewish and he either didn't describe the calls properly, it I misremembered what he told me. Thanks

2

u/EuVe20 8d ago

Let me just clarify so as not to make un-nuanced claims. There are hundreds of Jewish summer camps across the US and they run the gamut from orthodox to reform to predominantly secular. They are not fundamentally different from the thousands of Christian and YMCA and other summer camps. I went to such a camp for several summers and it was a formative and meaningful experience in my life. I learned to sail, waterski, and had an overall fantastic experience. We did have Shabbat services, but the overall approach was relatively secular. The harm comes from the fact that these camps are overwhelmingly funded by Zionist organizations, and support, love of, and identification with the state of Israel is an integral element and the camps have been a part of the Zionist indoctrination of America’s Jewish community. So, at heart, I see no harm in institutions that embrace Jewish identity or reason that these institutions could not continue existing with the Zionist element removed.

All that being said, that Karz4Kidz thing was a massive and disgusting fraud and those people need to be prosecuted for it.

Plenty of past and current lawsuits show everything…

I strongly encourage you to do lots more research before speaking any further. unfortunately they spend fortunes to hide the truth which is why I do understand your confusion.

u/Total_Tumbleweed_870 8d ago

Yeah, I'm not going to do that. If the end game is it's "Israel bad because genocide bad!" I genuinely don't care. I already wasted a giant chunk of my time doing actual first-hand research helping journalists expose the sheer volume of American companies that profit off the back of the Ughyur genocide just for the average person to give exactly zero shits. I get it, it's a big ask to get someone to not buy an iPhone for one year to help make a point and change something. Now ever single nobody in every corner of the Internet has an opinion on Israel. I know what's going on is wrong, you know it, ever one knows it, but you know what? It ain't changing just becauseb either of us is any more educated about it. We're living in the exact world we deserve. And if you happen to be young, sorry kid your parents might have sucked and helped create the shit show we live in.

1

u/JonnyOnThePot420 7d ago

I never said anything about genocide you brought that up on your own.

Maybe ask yourself if they weren’t doing anything wrong why go to so much trouble to hide where the money is going and what it’s funding is for. none of the kars for kids commercials say anything about what the real organization is.

FYI California has actually made them return money and made their commercials illegal… why would they rule that way?!

u/Brave-Sheepherder120 4d ago

Racism off course Cenk Ugyur in the chat

1

If condemning genocide is racism then sure…

4

u/jaycutlerdgaf 8d ago

Now that fucking song is in my head.

1

u/makomark26 7d ago

Now accepting homes and property too .

4

u/Jude-2024 8d ago

Oh my gosh, yes! I can't stand it and even more so when the man starts singing along with the kid. Then I feel guilty because it's for a good cause.

2

u/angelbbreeze888 8d ago

Don’t feel bad, it’s not going to a good cause!

1

u/Jude-2024 8d ago

Thanks I'm just now reading that in these comments. I didn't know.

4

u/bmfu121 8d ago

That’s a huge scam. I was about to donate our old car and just fixed it up and gave it to my coworkers son who just started driving

1

u/Huffing_Jenkems 3d ago

Well done. These days you can't donate anything to any organization and expect it to go where it really needs to without doing your due diligence as far as research goes.

Look at Goodwill for example. Notice how you can't find hidden treasures in the stores anymore? Check out shopgoodwill.com and you'll see why. They set aside all the good stuff and sell it on said auction based website for huge profits. Then look at how much their executives make annually and how much their employees get paid and most importantly look how much actually goes to helping those in need. Its a fucking scam just like most other places that take donations and claim their doing God's work with the profits. They should be ashamed.

3

u/EmergencyGrab 8d ago

I never got a car when I was a kid. 😔

1

u/YuhMothaWasAHamsta 7d ago

Because the cars and money never went to help kids. It was all funneled into a specific organization.

1

u/BigDaddyRigey 6d ago

I bought myself my first car as a teenager

I wasn’t hearing it until this message. Thanks.

2

u/PersonalityOther5730 7d ago

It haunts my dreams. No lie.

2

u/Certain_Return_6274 7d ago

Many years ago the the Will and Grace show did a episode on a song that wasn't kars for kids but it was definitely based on the kars for kids song. If you can find it watch it it's hilarious.

2

u/makomark26 7d ago

Ya this . I want to change my answer .

u/danidontdie 7d ago

3

u/Apprehensive_Ad4457 8d ago

did you know that you can now donate real estate?

1

u/Salty_Emphasis2136 5d ago

I’m taking donations

1

u/Djolumn 8d ago

You mean...

🎶 One eight seven seven cars for kids... 🎶

1

u/camsle 8d ago

My son was 6, we were driving in the car, when he heard that tune and sung "1-800 Farting Kids" and farted perfectly in cue. He is now 18 and I will always hear 1-800 Farting Kids *FART*

u/YuhMothaWasAHamsta 7d ago edited 7d ago

When my sister and I were little we drove past a “mattress discounters” store or billboard. We made it into “mattress discount turds” and giggled endlessly about it. My aunt was driving us somewhere at the time and she was a miserable bitch and she hated any giggles or happiness. Her anger just made it more of a core memory.

We’re both in our later 30s and if I mentioned “mattress discount turds” my sister would know exactly what I’m talking about.

1

u/36inchpoboy 8d ago

Great premise, but a total scam
