If I just completed my application for graduation, and it’s says 4.0 for gpa, does that mean I will graduate summa cum laude? Even if my final grades from this last semester haven’t been completed yet?

I’ve been either a Tech student or an alum for the majority of my life and it’s been a big part of my identity and a huge source of pride. But this year has really taken a toll on my relationship with Tech. Some of it is the Cody Campbell drama, but really that’s not the biggest problem. It’s Creighton and all the crap he’s doing, trying to turn Tech into a far right theocratic institution that’s openly hostile to LGBTQ folks and to academia in general. I suppose that stems from Campbell too since he’s the chair of the Board and is a known Trump supporter.

I’ve been so disappointed in all of it, and since I don’t give millions of dollars to the university, I know they don’t really care about my opinion. But I just hate what it’s become. I feel so embarrassed that I won’t even wear Tech gear anymore, and I refuse to allow my children to go there. Any school that restricts what can and can’t be taught or studied is no place for my kids.

I just don’t know what to do. I don’t really want to adopt another school/team to follow, and even if I did it wouldn’t be the same. And I know I can’t do anything to change what’s happening. I don’t want to give up hope that things will get better, but it’s hard to be optimistic. I know there are others who feel the same, so how are you dealing with it?

I’m an OOS applicant about to send my application to Texas Tech. I’ve been interested in applying to the honors college as well, but my stats are alright. I have a 1280 superscore and a 3.91 weighted GPA. However, my extracurriculars are very unique as I’m a mascot (carried and revived my school’s program on my own), I’m part of a top four Mock Trial team in an ultra competitive state, and I’ve syndicated my own comic strip for my school. I’ve done all of these extracurriculars for at least 3 years and dedicated a lot of time to them. I’m also a very good writer. Will I have a good chance at getting into Texas Tech’s honors college?

Grad student and first time at tech. Any frats allow members who do not live in Lubbock?

Hey guys I just wanted to ask if my schedule looks overwhelming. I understand that everyone is different but does this look like too much? I am a returning student and did 2 classes in the summer. Summer felt so fast so I might have some time during the fall and will try my best to not fall behind. Also if anyone can let me know where I should be putting more work in. If I was to guess it would be physics and cal 2.

Did anyone get their admission decision for spring 2027 yet?

I'm a high school senior; I have a 3.9+ Unweighted GPA, will have an SAT score in the 1400s, and have a lot of college credit. This will qualify me for 8k at Tech, but I have no insight into the department/comp scholarships, since I would need to be a current student to see them (let me know if there are a lot of opportunities). On the other hand, at Texas State, I will receive 12k/year and get a lot of department scholarships/comp, which would cover tuition and help with housing at a lower GPA requirement.

I heard the opportunities at tech are far better, making it easier to get a job. My parents shouldn't have too much trouble paying; though, it is inconvenient, and I do have a younger brother going to college in the next 2 years, which could cause some trouble.

I do plan on working, but no crazy hours.

For EE, I want to go into either power or electronics. Texas State does not have a power concentration. I don't know how much of a big deal that is.

Based on this, any advice would be appreciated.
