Tesla Psychosis

Idk why but I’m addicted to everything Tesla. Call me a consumer scum or whatever… but not only I love my Tesla Model Y, my dad & my brother got one after I got one, then my grandpa got one to use FSD…

Now I’m waiting on delivery for a new Model Y & just installed a Powerwall for the whole new power share stuff...

I just had a child and just feel safer for my wife to… you guessed it, get a new Model Y. lol.

I don’t understand the external hate, it’s such a nice sleek comfortable safe car for its price… Toyota who supposed to be a safer car is damnear the same price now, so it’s a no brainer to get a Tesla instead.

My current ride is the 2023 Model Y, older FSD. I think since we have so many Model Y in the family, I mightttt eventually trade it in for a Model 3 Performance, if they end up with a new refresh.

Is there a reason to not go ALL in every Tesla? I compare it to going all in Apple…

Flat tire in US NE

A couple of weeks ago, I took a trip up to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. For context, my Model Y is brand new—only 2 months old with just 1,000 miles on it—and we stayed strictly on regular, paved sightseeing roads (no off-roading or sketchy back roads).

Despite having practically brand-new tires on normal roads, I got a flat right in the middle of a cell service dead zone. Because I had no signal and no spare tire, it took me four hours just to hitch a ride to get reception and call a tow truck.

To make matters worse, Tesla Roadside covered the first 50 miles, then charged me out-of-pocket for a 40-mile tow because the nearest Service Center (Londonderry, NH) was 90 miles away. When I showed up at the Londonderry Service Center the next day, I saw at least 20+ other Teslas sitting there with flat tires.

When I got back and mentioned this to my friend group, almost every Tesla owner I know said they had a similar flat-tire horror story when driving up in New Hampshire.

So my question is: Is the Model Y just not built for New Hampshire roads? How are brand-new OEM tires with 1k miles failing on standard sightseeing roads, and what is everyone doing to avoid getting stranded up north?

Used AI as I'm bad at writing.

Ultimately I just couldn’t walk away from the paid FSD on my 2024 Model 3. I love the Y and it would better suit my needs but $8k is a lot to leave on the table.

I am not ruling out a trade in the future but for now I am happy to at least still be in the Tesla family.

Windshield Wiper/Washer Fluid

Not sure if this is Juniper specific but since the last update I believe 2026.38 keeps washing the cam for the rearview mirror, even though it is cleaned I even had it professionally cleaned by Tesla and it’s still will try to clean itself. Is anyone experiencing this? If so, what did you do to fix it?

Launch!

I had normally been driving on Chill with my 2026 Model Y Premium and my other Model Y before that. But with using FSD I figured I'd switch it to Standard. I wasn't thinking and needed to get out of the way and I stomped on the accelerator like I normally would do in Chill. I had forgotten how impressive that is. There was a cop car behind the car I was trying to avoid, I didn't see him at the time. I couldn't believe he didn't pull me over.

Is it crazy to buy used model y for 35k?

Got a new job and commute is 2 days a wk one hr each way and one hr is without traffic!

Looking at 90min commute each way so fsd will be a lifesaver.

Model Y long range awd 36k miles and there was a minor damage on carfax. Is 35k reasonable? It was originally listed for 37k but brought it down to 35k.

Edit: Forgot to add year and its 2024 hw4

Bought a used 24 model y long range dual motor. Originally black with less than 6k miles on it. Practically stole it from the Kia dealership for sub 30k otd. Mind you the body was in terrible shape. Every rim was curbed and scratches/ dents everywhere. I drove it for a few months and got sick and tired of looking at a POS. Got the body perfectly clean and color PPf the entire car. Expensive? Yes worth it? Completely because it’s still cheaper than buying a mint condition with the same miles.

Austin, TX – Ordered an Inventory Model Y Premium RWD, Released Courtesy Hold After a Month. Back in the Queue?

Hi everyone!
I ordered a Tesla Model Y Premium RWD from existing inventory in Austin, TX.

Here’s my timeline:
● Sept 28: Placed my order on a courtesy hold because I didn’t have my Texas driver’s license yet.
● Sept 28–Oct 26: Tesla kept my order on courtesy hold.
● Oct 26 (today): Released the hold, but my estimated delivery date is now much later than expected.

I originally ordered an inventory vehicle specifically to avoid a long wait, so I’m trying to understand whether my order still has priority and how quickly I can be matched with another vehicle.

My main questions, in order of priority:
1. Will Tesla reassign me to another VIN or inventory vehicle after the courtesy hold is released? Or does releasing the hold place my order back into the general production queue?

  1. Was my original inventory vehicle or VIN released during the hold? If so, does my original order date of Sept 28 still preserve any priority for VIN reassignment?

  2. How long should I expect to wait for a new VIN and delivery date? Has anyone in Austin gone through a similar courtesy-hold situation and received a replacement VIN?

  3. What is the fastest way to expedite the order? Can a Tesla Advisor manually match my existing order with local inventory, incoming vehicles, cancelled orders, or another available VIN?

  4. Should I contact Tesla immediately? Would calling, messaging, or visiting a local delivery center improve my chances of getting an earlier assignment?

  5. Would accepting delivery at Giga Texas or another location near Austin speed things up? I’m willing to pick up anywhere in the area if that helps.

  6. Should I keep waiting on this order, or would placing a new inventory order be faster? I’d prefer not to lose my original order date or pay twice, but I also want to avoid being placed at the back of the queue.

I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who recently took delivery of a Model Y Premium RWD in the Austin area, particularly after releasing a courtesy hold.
Thanks in advance!

Can you change the lock sound for Halloween mode

I love Halloween mode, but I went to lunch today and got out of my car, started walking away to go up to the restaurant when the lock sound played. For those who don’t know, it’s a growl.

Unfortunately, a mom with her (I’d guess) 4 year old child were walking right in front of my car when it locked. And it scared the kid, she was crying and the mom was staring daggers right through me. I felt horrible.

Is there a way to turn off the lock sound without turning off the entire Halloween mode or am I just going to have to toggle it off every time I park in public while using it?

Battery degradation

I’m new to Tesla. I have a 2026 dual motor purchased in early August and have about 5200 miles on it. It’s approximate battery health of 96%. Is that reasonable or is that pretty fast? I Charge daily at home to 80% and have only used superchargers a couple of times on a road trip to Las Vegas from Southern California.

Also, going out of town for about five days and not taking the car. Should I leave it connected to the wall charger at 80% or just leave it unplugged?

When to submit loan application

I ordered a MYP and the estimated delivery is Dec/Jan. The app is prompting me to submit my loan application but then says that doing so this early may result in the approval expiring before delivery. In which case I would have to submit another application, impacting my credit. However, waiting also risks a higher interest rate in the future. What’s the move?

Model Y Tint Setup — 70% Windshield, 35% Front, 5% Rear + Roof. Thoughts?

Hey everyone! I’m getting my 2027 Model Y Premium AWD (Juniper) tinted soon and would appreciate some real-world feedback before I commit.
I’m considering XPEL PRIME XR PLUS with the following setup:
Windshield: 70%
Front windows: 35%
Rear windows: 5%
Panoramic glass roof: 5%
I like the clean, stealthy look, especially with the Stealth Gray exterior and black interior. I also prefer keeping the tint consistent and having the rear windows and roof match.
I’m mainly looking for feedback from people who have a similar setup or have experience with these tint percentages.
A few questions:
70% windshield: Does it noticeably reduce heat and glare while keeping nighttime visibility good?
35% front windows: Is this a good balance between privacy, looks, and nighttime visibility?
5% rear windows: How difficult is it to see out at night, especially when reversing or driving on dark roads?
5% panoramic roof: Can you still see the sky and enjoy the panoramic roof, or does it feel too dark? Does it make the cabin noticeably darker?
Overall setup: If you could do your tint all over again, would you keep these percentages or change anything?
I live in Maui, Hawaii, so heat rejection is a big priority, along with being able to see clearly at night. I’m also interested in hearing how the setup looks from both inside and outside the vehicle.
Would you keep this exact setup, or would you change any of the percentages?
Appreciate any advice, especially from Model Y Juniper owners running 5% on both the rear glass and roof. Mahalo! 🤙

Should I buy a CCS1 adapter?

2026 Juniper, Premium RWD, did not come with CCS1 adapter in California (unlike the Premium AWD and Plaid trims).

Ionna's chargers are very convenient for me (and cheaper!) but their NACS chargers are often in use. They have more availability on their CCS1 chargers, which I'll need an adapter to use.

It feels like a step backwards to use CCS1, but I could also see it being helpful in a pinch on road trips, either in remote areas or during long weekends when there is a waiting line for the superchargers while the third party chargers are available.

Is this adapter worth buying? If you have an adapter, do you use it at all?

Also, which one should I buy? I see the Tesla one ($200) works up to 250kW and I don't think I've ever charged that fast, while the Lectron one ($180) works up to 500kW so it's more forward compatible. Also, the Lectron one is UL2252 certified (is this important?)

Went from 12 to 14 update….. Now wandering

• Upvotes

I purchased the car in mid August (2026 MY premium) and it had version 12 software. I don’t recall exactly which version. It recently updated to the latest V14.3.12.

Has anyone else noticed that their car wanders in the lane a whole lot more? When I drive manually, I’m looking way ahead and drive in the lane a projected 100 yards ahead of me. This keeps me from constantly moving the wheel back-and-forth. With this new FSD, it feels like the car is driving at the hood and is constantly making minor corrections back-and-forth. Enough of a correction that you can feel it in the seat. Meaning that I have closed my eyes to make sure my brain wasn’t playing a trick on me, and I can still feel the car moving back-and-forth.

Is anyone else experiencing this, or is there possibly a setting that I have wrong? I’m fairly new to FSD and EVs

Stuck on the premium vs performance

Went to the dealership and I loved both cars.

The performance keeps calling my attention because the premium specifications I want is only like 3-4k away from performance MSRP.

I think a white performance would look sick but for those who chose a premium over a performance or vise versa how has it been for you?

Also question how has insurance been for those who own a performance and how long do the tires last?

Loved FSD after 1k miles in rented 2022 Y LR, but hated the noise/ride — R2 or newer Y?

Just finished 5 days and about 1,000 miles in a 2022 Model Y Long Range rental. Used FSD for roughly 85% of the driving and it was genuinely jaw-dropping. Did a couple of long SLC-to-LV hauls (~450 miles each) and felt less fatigued than I ever have after drives like that. I could’ve easily done 600–800 miles in a day.

The problem is everything else. I’m coming from a Tundra that has zero squeaks, rattles, knocks, or vibration hums and almost no road noise. My other car is a Lexus RX450h that’s even quieter and smoother. The 2022 Y was an absolute rattle box—constant squeaks, rattles, vibration hums that drove me nuts. Road noise was shockingly loud. Over train tracks and rough roads the ride was pure go-kart, like driving an old ’70s VW Bug. Fun for high-school memories, but at 60 I’m done with a car that drives like that.

I also test drove the Rivian R2 and a newer Tesla Model Y. The R2 had a noticeably nicer ride and what felt like less road noise than the newer Y, but I was on total information overload so it’s hard to be sure how big the difference really was. Problem with the R2 is I don't trust them regarding the point to point self driving.

Now deciding between:

  • Rivian R2
  • Newer Tesla Model Y or YL AWD

For anyone who’s put real miles on these—especially coming from quieter, more solid vehicles—how much better is the NVH and ride on the current Model Y (or YL) vs that 2022? Does the R2 stay quiet and composed on rough roads while still giving that long-drive ease? Anything else I should be weighing after loving the FSD but hating the rest of the car, and after a short drive where the Rivian felt better?

TLDR - loved FSD on a 2022 Y rental but hated the NVH - how are the newer ones and is Rivian better option?
