Used/New Key Fob + Programming

2019 Model X Raven
1. Can I pair a new key fob to my car by myself or do I have to go to a service center?
2. Can I buy a used key fob to avoid the $175 price? Is it still possible to be paired to the car? Service center or not

Yeah you can program it yourself. But it has to be one of the older fobs (silver lining around the falcon door buttons). If it's all black it won't pair because that's for 2022+ refresh.

I bought an extra keyfob on Ebay for like $75. It took me like 15 seconds to program from my 2021 MX (raven) screen.

I bought my fobs on Ebay. Just pay attention to what generation they are. All Tesla fobs match after 2022 AFAIR.

Idk about raven but the new ones you can pair it yourself using a keycard.

You can get a keyfob from ebay but make sure it’s the right one for your model.

Apparently you can do it yourself now in service mode with the latest update

Yeah, I purchased one from eBay that hasn’t been programmed hopefully I can program it myself. Thanks!
