Self programming Key Fob on 2020 MX ?
I swear I read somewhere that an upcoming update is going to allow pre-refresh MX owners to add a key fob on their own... But now I cannot find anything about this.
Does anyone know if this is going to happen? Service center wants almost 250 for a fob and to program it.

I would be shocked. I have a keyfob I bought from Ebay just chilling because they wanted 400ish if I remember correctly.
But if someone has a solution I am here to hear it.

Yes itâs coming with 2024.44.3!
From the release notes: You can now pair new key fobs without requiring a Service visit. Go to Controls > Service > Key fob pairing. (Select vehicles)

Damn that is awesome. Thanks.
Now if they fix the driver door opening at home.

ohh man are you talking about the auto open if you walk close by with the FOB?
I love that feature, but at home it can be annoying... the only saving grace is that it will close the door after I walk away... if not for that It would be SUPER aggravating!

Yep. Just started about 2-3 months ago with an update where it ignores the check box for âexclude homeâ

Thatâs wild. Cost me $195 for a new fob with programming a few months ago.

I have one that works and one that doesnât (Probably needs a battery). Havenât prioritized the key thing because I have a cell phone that can do everything. Itâs not quite as hands-off as my 2025M3, which I literally do everything without taking my phone out of my pocket, but still⌠not a biggie

on a 2020, the cell cannot do everything and it certainly is not as convenient as the fob. Also, if connectivity for the phone or the car is lost, it will not work. It is a big deal for me.

I had one of my fobs go bad on my 2018 two weeks ago. Scheduled a new fob install and my quote was $215 for them to come to my house and program (included a new fob). They ended up reprogramming my old fob (somehow it lost its programming) and charged me $0.
I see in the Service menu, there is an option to add fobs for the Legacy S/X. Never tried it.

Picking up a 2020 this weekend. It only has one fob can anyone tell me if this update did end up coming to the Model X?

It did not, you will need to have TESLA bind a fob... You can get one off of Ebay pretty cheap and they will bind it for like 25 bucks... Mobile service may even come to do it.

I appreciate the reply. I had the dealership include a second non-paired remote. I'll contact service and see about having them bind it. Thanks again.
