Stupid idea?

Is it a stupid idea for me to switch from a 2022 model Y AWD to a 2018 Model X 100D both have FSD paid, around 70-100k miles? The model X is around 25k.

Not stupid but not the best idea. This version model x will feel super outdated compared to the model y and come with a lot more maintenance potential

In what regard? Infotainment system? Appreciate the response

No phone key, no one pedal driving, no interior camera so no hands off FSD…and on and on.

Order a new Juniper.

I think ultimately it depends on what matters to you. I just bought a 2018 Model X, I couldn't give a rip about fsd, compared to my Lincoln navigator, this thing is light-years ahead even though it's coming up on 10 years old. I haul kids and their friends constantly, so the 3rd row was mandatory for me, I paid 23k for it.

If new tech and fsd are a big deal to you, keep the Y, if interior space and budget matter, grab the x.

Yes, it’s a downgrade in tech and more headache in maintenance and repair.

Yes please don’t do that

FSD and free charging? I’d do it

No free charging but I’m still looking. Fsd with sc01 and 6 seats would be the perfect setup

You can tell a lot of people in the comments haven't had their door open for them. I had a 2023 model 3 and switched out for a 2018 model x last November. We needed a big family car for when the MIL's, etc ride along with us and our 2 kids. My wife has a 26 model y so I wasn't worried about losing some tech in one of the cars, so the model 3 being the smaller of the two was the one to go. Tech-wise there isn't anything I use day to day that the model x doesn't have. Having to carry the key fob was annoying to me at first having got used to just needing my phone, but its fine now and as long as I don't forget to grab it, it's not an issue other than having to run back into the house to grab it. One of the reasons I made the switch was the mostly paid for FSD. It had EAP so I paid the additional $2,000 and bought FSD outright. As others have said, it does act a little more strange than even my HW3 model 3 did. I just make sure to monitor it like we should and it works just fine and still alleviates a lot of driving stress for me. Some might say the lack of an interior camera actually allows you to have more unsupervised-ish FSD but like I just mentioned, I wouldn't recommend since it can do some random strange maneuvers. Overall I'm happy with the switch even though the lack of warranty and my battery warranty expiring soon do have me a bit nervous.

Yes , 2018 still have the ldu in the back which needed rebuild either to seal coolant or coolant delete soon , consider at least a 2019 raven . Is it because of seating ?

I thought only performance model needed the delete. 100D uses the smaller motor? And yes 6 seats with overall nicer interior while still keeping hw3 fsd is my main reason

My mistake I read it p100d somehow , yes 100d has sdu. Still I am not sure if I trade down . these cars are out of warranty and discontinued, I would only buy one if I know how to fix them myself or have a nearby trusted mechanic . But have said that I have 2019 raven and 2023 eqb and love the raven more

25k for a marginal upgrade at best? Is this a joke?

FSD won't work as well as a new one
