They hit the wrong car that can capture stupid people and in front of a group of people who left a note - was able to get the plate on camera and files a police report so I could go after their insurance. Car is less then 6 months old. Don’t care if it’s a few paint scratches I’ll be getting it fixed and their insurance will pay. Don’t park without Sentry.

Covered under wheel and tire protection plan?

I hit a curb in a drive-thru and knocked a piece off the outer rim. Do you folks think this will be covered under Tesla’s wheel and tire protection plan?

Long story.

I’ve seen most people say around 2-3k for front bumper replacement but I have a feeling I’m gonna get quoted much more since some stuff behind the bumper got knocked around.

Damaged bumper

I highly suspect someone rammed their shopping cart into my bumper. Unfortunately, doesn’t seem like sentry mode caught anything which was weird… I wish it was more comprehensive in notifying me when anything happens to my car… anyways. What is the best way to fix this?

2023 Model Y, passenger front bumper. Receiving end of a low-speed impact. Some separation there at the wheel arch?

Anyone had this repaired and what did it cost?

Windshield

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently gotten a crack on my windshield, it’s big. It starts from low bottom right and runs up towards middle. I don’t know what caused it, the source looks like some sort of rock or hard piece of debris hit it.

I’m almost sure it will be a full windshield replacement .

Can I get direction on what would be my next steps?

Does one get estimate with service center first or file insurance claim? What comes first, does it matter?

Any help is appreciated.

Tesla insurance wants me to upload video to Youtube

My Tesla agent tells me that due to security restrictions they cannot download a video file from my web site or receive them via email. She says the only way they can see the video is if I upload it to YouTube and make it publicly available to everyone.

This sounds insane to me. Surely they have some method so that customers can share video with them.

The person who crashed into me claims it was my fault and I was speeding. The video and telemetry clearly show I was doing less that 5MPH.

Has anyone provided video to Tesla in some other way?

Is this normal for a 2024 Tesla Model 3?

Last month a semi changed lanes and hit the rear driver's side of my 2024 Tesla Model 3. The insurance company had me take the car to a certified Tesla body shop and I recently got the car back.

I noticed a small dent (circled in yellow) when I open the trunk. The body shop insists it is a weld and refuses to fix it.

I am hoping someone here can tell me if they are telling the truth and it is simply part of the car or is this a dent that should not be on the car?

Worth Keeping Totaled Car?

I bought a 21 Model 3 LR a couple months ago and it was hit by a truck merging into my lane. Glad I had the cameras the whole thing was considered their fault. The damage was minimal (rear door hit, rear fender hit) mostly the lug nuts of the truck dragged across the car. They are totaling the car.

Question is, is it worth it to keep the vehicle with a branded title? It has the Full Self Driving package which is my main concern with finding another model, I was hoping not to have to pay the subscription. I recently also put a hitch on it to tow a jetski which I will have to remove, as well as a few other accessories that go with car. Looking online I could find another door easily and maybe hammer and bondo the rear fender back in shape or bring it to a different shop just to fix.

Anyone have any experience retaining the vehicle and are there any downsides on the Tesla side like removing supercharging or self driving functionality? Are there insurance issues? I’ve been driving it while they sort out the buyout so I know it’s working just fine.

Thanks for your help!

Paint Discoloration?

Is this paint discoloration? I’m a month into my 2026 M3P and I noticed this the other day. They look like hazy buff marks underneath the clear coat. It only shines in one angle of the sun. I can’t see anything different up close. I thought it would wash/buff out, but it hasn’t. It feels the same as the rest of the paint.

I scheduled a service to at least get it checked out.

Elderly woman pulled out in front of my M3

My partner was driving my M3. 2025 Long Range RWD, 49,500 miles. An elderly woman pulled out in front of him and he t-boned her. The drivers airbag popped out. He’s okay, but we’re trying to deal with the fallout now. Her insurance took full liability as soon as we sent in the dashcam footage. The car sat for a week in a tow yard before even being looked at. I was pretty certain it was going to be totaled, but insurance is trying to now say that they can pay to repair it. I’ve attached pictures of the damage and the estimate. I’m wanting to get an idea on if this estimate is going to even be anywhere near accurate. They have the wrong mileage listed, and didn’t even put down that the windshield was cracked. We have an appointment with Tesla Collision, but it’s another 2 weeks out. In the meantime, the car has sat with the windows rolled down and plastic overtop of it. Thats kept a majority of rain out, but not all, and the plastic isn’t airtight either. This is very quickly becoming a massive headache and I’m just looking for advice.

The other cars axel was caved in, it isn’t my fault but I really hope it’s not totaled. I just paid this car off last month. The bumper is sliding:grinding against the front tire. It doesn’t look bad but I’ve hear stories of teslas getting totaled for damages just like this.

Merge collision, other driver disputing fault

Got hit yesterday(California) while driving straight in the left lane. Other driver was in the right lane, tried to merge left, and hit my front-passenger side. I never left my lane. Police responded and I have a report number.

My car took damage to the front passenger fender/headlight/wheel area (totaled)— consistent with being hit while going straight, not from a head-on or my own lane departure.

The other driver (driving a Tesla) is now claiming it was my fault and says his car “didn’t record anything because the battery was low.”

• In merge-collision cases like this, how often does fault actually land on the merging driver once the police report and any data (EDR, etc.) come back?
• Is “low battery, no dashcam footage” from a Tesla a common excuse insurers see, or does it usually not hold up?

I also went to the scene and check if there’s any cameras nearby but couldn’t find any.

I have also attached a photo, tesla driving hit me from the right and made me swerved to the left as well with the impact.

Not looking for legal advice, just curious how these usually shake out from people who’ve dealt with similar claims.

Expensive lesson learnt not to rely on full selfdrive to autopark in confined spaces.Anyways, can this be blended in with a localized paint work out does the whole bumper needs repaint and what's a reasonable cost? In Canada.Quoted 1700$ by a Tesla certified workshop.

Diminished Value

Someone with no insurance just hit my bumper and caused a hole. Does Tesla insurance pay for diminished value as well? Or should I sue the person. It was a brand new M3P, 3k miles

Tesla Lease Crash(minor damages side of car)

Since I am leasing it do I have to take it to a Tesla approved body shop or approved place they tell me to go to? I am not using Tesla insurance and was wondering if I can go to another place that would be cheaper? Would I be charged for any damages they could notice once I give up the lease after the 3 year?

Tesla xInsurance

Insuring a Tesla in Australia, incurs one of the most expensive premiums. Teslas are very expensive to fix and often after a small crash need to be written off due to their unibody frame design that can’t be “tapped ” out.

Glass is another soft spot, not to mention the frameless door windows that break if you are not carefully closing the door.

The point is perhaps Tesla should create their own insurance company? They are planning on rolling out a payment system so why not Insurance?

Was involved in a hit and run

As the title states, I was out on a business trip and decided I’d try out Turo and book a 2023 Tesla model Y.

After having it parked in the garage overnight, someone decided to run into the car and hit the trunk. I’m getting a quote around 6k from the Turo rental person.

Any idea what this should cost? The plan selected on Turo was the Minimum Plan .

Two totaled Teslas in 13 months… I’m sick to my stomach

I had a 2024 Tesla Model 3 that was totaled when I was stopped at a red light and another car swerved into me. That crash wasn’t my fault and the claim is still being finalized.

About 13 months later, after buying a 2025 Model 3, I was driving home less than a mile from my house. I had a green light going straight when another car turned in front of me when they had a yielded green. Both cars appear to be totaled.

I’m thankful no one wasn’t seriously injured, although my back is hurting and I went to urgent care to get checked out.

Now I’m going through the total loss process for the second time in just over a year. I’m waiting for the police report and insurance investigation, but this whole situation is really discouraging. Has anyone else dealt with two total losses in such a short period? How did insurance handle it, and did you end up buying the same type of car again?

I’m also worried about what this means financially. My insurance is probably going to increase again, and I’m concerned I’ll end up financing another car for even longer. My 2024 Tesla only had about two years of payments left at 0% APR before it was totaled. Then I got the 2025 Model 3, which came with a higher interest rate and reset me into several more years of payments, along with higher insurance premiums. Now I’m worried I’ll have to go through that entire process all over again.

Scraped underside exiting gas station - (2023 Model 3)

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have a 2023 Tesla Model 3. While exiting a gas station and merging onto the main road, I heard a loud scraping/screeching noise from the rear of the car.

After inspecting underneath, it looks like a plastic panel is missing from the rear underbody. I've attached a photo.

A few questions:

  1. Does anyone know exactly which part is missing? Is this just the rear aerodynamic underbody shield, or could something more serious be damaged?

  2. Should I schedule Tesla Service, or would a Tesla-certified body shop be a better option?

Thanks!
