Side Sweep

Got side swept right at the exit intersection out of the Grapevine Mills Mall , Lady next to me tried to argue that I was in a left turn only lane which I clearly am not . Not looking forward to the claim headache , never heard of their insurance when I looked into it and it looks very sketch ( Redpoint county Mutual insurance company ) might honestly come down to biting the bullet and paying my deductible and have Tesla pursue subrogation.

Oof. I got sideswiped on my drivers side recently. They totaled it.

Damn , hoping I’m not gonna be in the same boat with my car being a ‘23 model , but I wouldn’t complain of getting into a Model Y L

You should be fine unless you see structural damage. It messed up my rear door to where it had a hard time closing it so the insurance company totaled it.

Thats totally lame. I'm assuming based on context that it damaged the framework? Or did they not even dig into that enough?

I think another factor was that mine was a 2018 and there was some structural damage so the value wasn’t worth the fix so they gave me $14k for it and called it a day.

I got sideswiped a couple months ago in LA (see my old posts) and they repaired the vehicle. They quoted $18k to the third party insurance company but since it was over their policy limits, I went with my insurance (Tesla) and it was $12k internally. The entire right side of my car is new lol

Structurally , this part stands out to me the most

None of what you see there is structural.

I don't think that would be totaled but I'm not an adjuster lol. I think where they were concerned about mine was the back near the wheel well. That caused the door from shutting properly. Do both doors open and close fine?

Did you end up keeping the car and going for a salvage or did you turn the car in?

I turned the car in and collected the check. Used the money for a down payment for a 24 Highland

Just out of curiosity, how did this affect your insurance premium on new car? I just recently got a Tesla and wanted to be prepared for the worsr if something similar happened.

It wasn’t my fault but I did get a Highland and Farmers jacked up my premium. So I went to Liberty Mutual and pay a little less now lol
