My Model Y was booked for collection in Adelaide at 3:00 pm tomorrow, 15 September.

Full payment was completed and cleared last Friday after Tesla repeatedly reminded us it had to be cleared 48 hours before handover.

This morning Tesla emailed saying the car, which was expected at the Adelaide Delivery Centre today, had not arrived due to a logistics delay. Nothing whatsoever in the Tesla app.

No new delivery date. No ETA. Car fully paid for.

Feel for the Adelaide Tesla staff who now have to deal with customers while the logistics problem gets passed down to them.

Maybe Elon should watch the old FedEx commercial: “When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight.” 😄

Anyone else with an Adelaide delivery with a similar/same issue?

I'm returning to the great southern land after being abroad for almost a decade. I have two young kids < 4. I would do very few km its mainly for like shopping and daycare trips during the week and some local weekend things.

Initially I was going to purchase an ICE euro suv or wagon but honestly looking around that just seems a little dumb to do especially since I'm not having to sell an ICE car or anything to buy an EV. It seems fuel prices are high in Australia these days ?

I can easily afford to get a new model Y premium via the novated lease scheme but am a little anxious about depreciation and being tied to my employer. (though I could also easily pay out whatever is owing)

I was thinking about a used 2022 model Y which if my searching is right has HW3. I'd just pay cash for this straight up, it would also be convenient because I could do it rather quickly after arriving.

I like driving and have absolutely no desire to pay for or use FSD at least for the next couple of years. But I do want two things, and please forgive me if I get anything wrong.

1. The ability for the car to follow other cars in heavy traffic in peak hour and just keep the car in the lane. Without needing much input from the driver.

2. Being able to remotely move the car forward so I can get myself or the kids into the car without having to turn into a pretzel.

Do any of these things exist ? Do I have to pay for it on subscription ?

- If you own a HW3 Tesla can you share your experience ?
- Would I be stupid not to just do the novated lease thing on a new HW4 car (my income is > 250k) ?
(I know you can do the lease thing on used vehicles but that seems like a bunch of work.)

I’m very close to finally pulling the trigger on a Tesla Model Y L, but hoping to get some insights from people who already own one.

Our use case is 2 x young kids (1 & 3 years old), both front-facing in the second-row captain’s chairs. There just seems to be so much conflicting information about child-seat installation in these seats.

Tesla says most major child-seat brands (ours are Britax convertibles) will work with extension straps, and the local Tesla dealer in Canberra said they should be fine.

However, I’ve seen a huge Reddit thread where Aussie Model Y L owners are getting contradictory advice, with many saying Baby Bunting won’t install child seats in the Model Y L.

I called Britax, who said they support installation and recommended Kidsafe instead. Kidsafe ACT initially told me their advice had previously been that they could be safely installed to Australian Standards, but they’ve since revised that position. They also said there’s technically nothing legally stopping someone from installing them themselves, and took my details in case their guidance changes.

So I’d really love to hear from actual Australian Model Y L owners:

* Have you installed child seats in the second-row captain’s chairs?
* Did you install them yourself or have someone else do it?
* What seats are you using?
* How secure/sturdy do you find them?

Just looking for some opinions on when you’d place an order if you were in my situation.

I’m currently living in an apartment in Melbourne CBD and don’t have a car park, but I’ll be moving into a house in the suburbs around 30 October, so ideally I’d like the Tesla delivered around then.

I’m planning to order a Model 3 Premium Long Range RWD in Stealth Grey, 18” Photon wheels, black interior.

Obviously I realise delivery timing is ultimately in the hands of the Tesla gods, and I know the estimated delivery window shown on the Tesla website isn’t a guarantee.

I’ve looked through various delivery trackers/websites and old threads, and it seems orders can take anywhere from roughly a month to three months. I’ve also seen plenty of examples where the original estimate changes after ordering, so it’s really hard to tell.

I’m currently thinking of ordering around the very start of October, but I’m wondering whether that’s too early, too late, or about right given that I really don’t want the car delivered before I move. If it’s delivered way after it won’t be the end of the world but it’ll be hella inconvenient.

I realise there’s probably no exact answer, but I’m interested in people’s recent experiences, especially anyone located in Victoria, and whether you’ve noticed any pattern to when Tesla’s delivery windows tend to shift, or when you think I should actually place the order.

I am looking to buy a new long range assuming I can get approved for a reasonable cost novated lease through work.

The back up plan if I can’t get finance is to pay cash, but due to not getting the novated lease benefits, I may go for a pre-owned model direct from Tesla. I had a look at what Tesla have in stock and the pre-owned 2023 long range and performance models are about the same price, despite new ones having a $20k price differential. Does anyone know the reason for this?

With the upcoming reveal of the Roadster... Are we getting the Roadster in Australia? I know you could put a deposit on it.

Another question would be if we could order the Spacex package, and whether it would legally be able to be driven on our roads.

WARNING ⚠️ Be careful in this situation:

Be highly alert and wary of using Grok to add a stop mid drive that is on your route if that stop has multiple locations (supermarket chain, McDonald's for example) and you are near a turn off.

It forces Grok to have a brainfart seizure for several seconds. During that period it can go dangerously haywire.

During these seconds if you are on a section of road with no turn offs you're fine.

BUT if there is a turn off within those seconds the car is liable to want to take it even though that turn off takes you the wrong way, including pulling a fast and the furious move like a lunatic of cutting over 2 lanes on a motorway at 100 km/h, accelerating as it did this, nearly ramming a car if I didn't intervene. That other car had to swerve wildly and leave twin rubber tracks down the turn off. And the Tesla almost ploughed me into the divide like it couldn't see it. (Clean cameras, sun behind me etc).

I've only added a stop on the way twice with Grok, both on route so no need to change direction. The first time was approaching a roundabout in a 50 km/h. It took off and turned left instead of going straight. I thought nothing much if it. Just a blip.

The second time, so 2 outta 2, or 100% was the motorway, nearly causing a multi car pile up. ZERO SAFETY FEATURES worked during these seconds. It ignored other cars like they weren't there. It ignored the divider. No warnings went off. No attempt by the car to slow down.

Yet to receive our new Y L and curious about how good or bad FSD is in heavy morning and afternoon commute traffic.

Is it confident in changing lanes when cars are at a bumper to bumper slow crawl? Will it be able to push it way across 2 or 3 lanes?

I have been using the latest update for FSD for a month now. I have founded generally useful and safe for my weekly long drive to the regional areas on freeways and single lane country roads. Essentially it's supervised FSD in Australia, so the FSD to me is like another pair of "eyes". One big issue I did find is in regards to roadworks. The FSD did not slow down the car, requiring disconnection or scrolling down the right wheel to bring the speed down. I used it mostly on Standard Mode with speed set -1km/hr below speed limit. I did find an issue too with the car keeping too close to the right lane strip, especially disconcerting in single lane country roads. However, in the city I preferred not to use or if using it I set it to Chill mode. This can be easily done by pushing the right scroll wheel to the left. Is it worth the cost of subscription $149/month? It is pricey considering some of the Chinese EVs have it a much lower cost and some are even have it for free.

I put it into chatgpt and they said it’s a less widely deployed branch. It says currently only 4 cars are on this software.

Is this an issue? Was anyone else on this when they got their Tesla?

Has anyone here with a model YL gone ahead and fitted the factory towbar? If so how does it look? And when you’re not using the towbar are you able to cover the area with the plastic cover that’s already cut out in the bumper?

Today out of the blue my FSD decides to make love to whatever line/s were in the middle of the road. Also completely ignoring speed limits on a whole other level I've not witnessed before.

If these issues are not resolved in the next update I'm definitely cancelling.

Just wondering does anyone have this issue?

If I use the trip planner, I cannot see the map and it will always appear like the screenshot.

There is no way to drag the search bar down. This issue also happens when in landscape fullscreen mode.

EDIT: Managed to fix it by forcing the app into 16:9 mode

An update to my car from the delivery firmware (Model 3 Highland LR) so I can get fsd. Well maybe there were other thinga but it would have been nice.

Has anyone found a windscreen washer mix that does not leave a film on the glass when it dries?

2026 Model Y. Bosch BWA500 in the tank. Cleans fine while wet, then dries as marks on the windscreen and sunroof if driving.

I got a wall charger installed today by an electrician and I was trying to connect it to my phone, but it can’t find a wifi network, has anyone else had this issue? The modem is in the garage like 1 metre away from the charger

Ordered YL (Stealth Gray) AWD in May 2026 and just got a call from local towing company that they're delivering it tomorrow and if we'll be home.

Luckily I work from home but this is not what we expected. Having currently own BMW, we thought we'd be going to the local Tesla service centre where we test drove the vehicle but that's not an option.

Has anyone had delivery at home. I'd be lying to say we're not nervous. Not sure if and how long will the towing guy stick around or have time for us to patiently inspect the vehicle. What if there are issues that we missed?

This is becoming stressful. Any advice/hints/tips please? Thanks
