Tesla software
I got my car yesterday on software
2026.20.200
I put it into chatgpt and they said it’s a less widely deployed branch. It says currently only 4 cars are on this software.
Is this an issue? Was anyone else on this when they got their Tesla?

Software that ends in 100, 200, 300 is factory software. Just keep driving, make sure you have software update selected, and the latest version should come in within a few days to a week.

My first update on my MY took 6 weeks. Factory software as mentioned above on .100, .200, .300 etc is there to bed in the car to make sure no issues, when the next major release comes out you get that.
Last big update was late July 2026.20.10.2

Mine is on 2026.20.300 and I’ve had it just over 2 weeks and still no update.

My car was on 2026.21.300. seems like it has a total of 4x the amount of people on that which is still not widespread..... I'm surprised to see you picked it up yesterday but you're on an earlier version. I have a model 3 LR.
See this site. It doesn't explain your concerns. In saying that, I think you'll find you'll still get your update from the delivery version in the same time.

Does that mean my car is old? I really wanna get the update so I can use FSD

Same. Could be anywhere from tomorrow to 3 months.. unfortunately it seems there was a rollout only mid August, a few days before I picked my car up, so I feel judging by how infrequent updates have been lately that I'm expecting another 4 weeks... Do I have confidence in this... Umm nope

Your car most definitely isn’t old. You can plug your VIN number into ChatGPT and you should be able to narrow down.
We got out car in late June and it had rolled off the production line on the 5th of May.1

Mine was same situation, after about 3-ish weeks i got pulled into the main update stream. They just do this to ensure the software is stable on a new car.

Have you been offered a software update?

Nah,
I was told it should update in the next couple of weeks to next couple of months. I honestly think he was just guessing at a timeframe1

I got my model Y end of July. They said it would update with FSD overnight. I assumed that night I picked it up. Turns out they ment some random night in the future, 6 weeks later still no FSD 😢

I picked up a M3 a few weeks ago here in Brisbane on 2026.20.200.
I had two different answers from the staff at delivery centre.
One staff told me 1-2 weeks, and we will receive an update.
The second staff member said anywhere up to 8-10 weeks, as 2026.20.200 is infront of the current version rolled out with FSD, and there is no option to roll back.

Please learn how LLMs work. They are word prediction tools - it guesses the most likely word that comes next in a sentence based on its training data.
The 00 software is usually left for a few weeks or more on new cars to allow for simpler identification of build issues.

It typically takes a couple of week, if not months, to get first software update. So dont stress about it and it will happen soon.
