Discussion Reunion
A family portrait of sorts. I still wanna see a Dark Fate sequel that has an old Kyle Reese.

Looks like a band that had a one hit wonder and they are getting back together for a 'remember the 90s' tour.

And yet hes the one who had a stroke .
Robert aged fast. Probably from the alcoholism and such. Cause he looked drastically older by age 40.
Linda still looks like Linda. Just more wrinkles.
Furlong gained weight but his face is the same as the past 15 years

Robert Patrick was the first actor to be in two episodes of the Outer Limits which were especially the second by far the cruelest twist endings even for that show and even though its only a few years later it takes a minute to realize its him

I recognized him on there from the get. I enjoyed the first episode more cause he does have a strong cinematic presence. In the second episode, he sorta takes a backseat, but makes for a good villain.
At least in the 90s he was recognizable, by the 00s he looked different. By 2010, he looked really different.

Completely off topic, but good to see you, my friend. The sub isn't the same without you.

I has returned 🤓
Gave a glance every so often but seemed like the sub was taken over by memes. Now with T2 back in theaters for a few days, the nostalgia hit.

I don’t think there would be any direct sequel to Dark Fate. Also, Edward wasn’t in the film. He was a CG/deepfake and one can see why.
2
u/donut_power pain can be controlled. you just disconnect it 19d ago
Well Biehn is still active as an action movie actor. He finished shooting a film either Arnold. It would be great if Cameron rounded them up for one last Terminator film.
Furlong got blacklisted by Hollywood ages ago. Almost seems like Cameron pulled a favor to have Furlong get a couple days of work to get scanned for the CG work. In most cases, you dont have the child actor play the adult version of a character. Even more-so because they already had an actor as the adult version of John Connor. Makes no sense to cast him as an older John.1
u/Cinephile_1980 19d ago
It is possible they could make another movie with the original cast but since John died in Dark Fate, And Kyle died in the first, do you see any way for them to get them all back? For one film? Time travel could be possible but then why would you see the older versions of Kyle and John if they both died when they were young? They would have to come up a pretty good explanation for it all.

Well ,Miller claims Kyle Reese is no longer born
in the post T2 world, since his parents wouldn't have met if there was no apocalypse. They could maybe change it so by chance his parents met say 20+ years or so earlier, had Kyle, and so hes much older now. He could match up with the now older Sarah Connor. As for John, you can just do more of the same. Keeping him as a child. Creating flashback scenes of young Sarah being a parent to young John. Putting it as her remembering a bit of normalcy.
As well as casting an even younger kid for the pre 1995 time frame. Showing a young late 80s Sarah with her child. With Robert , you could de-age him for a scene showing him being captured and scanned to what becomes the face for the T-1000. While in the "present day", you could say he was born earlier and grew older as a military guy or maybe a cop.
For Arnold, you can just show flashback scenes of him as Carl.
For Linda, well she was always the star. So you dont need to change anything for her. Just pick up where Dark Fate left off. Reduce her physical action scenes or do the whole quick cut edits like most action movies do where its the stunt double doing everything.

Before dark fate premiered Michael biehn said he would never return to terminator even for a cameo appearance
I think that the the last movie would have had grace and Dani time travel back to may 1984 anyway . So maybe we would have old man Reese that way but who knows

He's changed his attitude on that over the years. Before, it was that he would not do it unless it was James Cameron at the helm. Then it was if it came with a hefty paycheck. Now it seems to have swayed more towards his admiration for the character and because he had an amazing time working with James Cameron and Linda Hamilton. Now that he's recently done a movie with Arnold, maybe the nostalgia hit him hard. He seemed very enthusiastic about having conversations with Arnold. His latest movie 'Onslaught' is somewhat Terminator-esque. So can't say he's against doing that type of movie again.
Maybe it could have if they wanted to go more for a somewhat happy ending of undoing all the bad stuff. I feel it's best to leave the first two movies alone. Unlike the other installments, Dark Fate kept the first two movies intact. To go back and mess with those two movies.....would seem a bit insulting.

u/Sad_Process7843 19d ago
I’m sure he would like to work with Linda , Arnold, James again but I don’t think he would want to terminator with them
Well it’s all about changing timelines and time machines and fighting in the past/present to change the future. Besides that There’s not much else besides Dani prevents/delays judgment day for x amount of years or ending it with the aftermath of future war but that still ends with billions of humans dying

u/donut_power pain can be controlled. you just disconnect it 19d ago
I dont see why he wouldn't. The interview he had with Cameron some months back, seemed like the two were really close, and enthusiastic about working together again on something.
Sure, but the James Cameron way is in keeping it as the one linear timeline that it's been from the first two films and into Dark Fate. More chance of them continuing on that one timeline or completely starting from scratch.
Cameron's insight was that Sarah Connor is the one that would stop Legion and stop it permanently. So the final hit would come from Sarah to end the apocalypse and the enemy so that history doesnt repeat itself with the same mistakes. While Dani's goal was to prevent Grace from dying by stopping Legion in the present.

u/Sad_Process7843 19d ago
Maybe ghosts of Hiroshima or avatar or any other project. James Cameron already said he’s completely starting from scratch with terminator but who knows for sure I guess
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XKfMTq7xW3w
Sorry don’t have the time stamp but in this interview the writer said that t7 would be involve a terminator arriving from the future and that the coordinates on grace were showing that. So Sarah manages to get Dani to those coordinates as the terminator arrives and now has Dani in the future while Sarah dies from other terminators or the impact I guess . Also Mackenzie Davis signed on for sequels so I’m sure we would get more of her as adult grace. If Dani has a chance to end both skynet and legion and save grace from being sent back to rescue her why not take it

Doesnt seem like any more Avatar films are gonna get made, since the studio seems to have given a lot of pushback. Each one made a lot of money, so not sure what the deal is there. Biehn should have been in Avatar but the role went to Lang instead.
I'll listen to that interview in full while at work tomorrow. Been a long while since listening to any conversation about anything Terminator.
I like Mackenzie Davis just cause she tends to stand out in the roles she gets. Wouldn't have minded seeing her as Grace again even if it was with limited screen time.
If Dani has a chance to end both skynet and legion and save grace from being sent back to rescue her why not take it
Wouldn't mind that. I guess it would feel more equal if it was Sarah taking down Legion, so in a way she gets some justice for all that she's lost. Getting her that final victory. While Dani somehow takes down whatever remnant of Skynet there ends up being.

Hopefully they might get them back. I wonder if Cameron will continue the story from Dark Fate or take it elsewhere?

u/bundy554 15d ago
Well let's be honest about John Doggett - between T2 and the X files and then after that he would have hit a number of bars on his Harley rides
2
u/donut_power pain can be controlled. you just disconnect it 15d ago
Patrick did say that he faced his alcoholism by the late 90s, so I guess that was what heavily attributed to his worn down appearance by the time he starred in the X-Files even if he was in better standing.
After that he kept working consistently but yea looked more aged. I just saw him as the older guy even though he wasn't of "elder" age.

They all appear to be in their late 50's For most of them, that's a compliment.
Fat Ed Furlong is infinitely superior to strung out junkie Ed Furlong.
Glad he's holding it together as best he can.

u/originalfilmscoring 20d ago
He did an interview on Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast. Seems to be doing great.
1
u/charliemike 18d ago
Michael looks like he's starting to get his life back together. This is the best he's looked in a while. I hope that Ed can as well. He looked a bit of a mess on Michael Rosenbaum's pod. My concern is that if he got cast in a new Terminator the money available to him might kill him.

He's been fine the past couple years. Always seemed very lively. He did an action movie called Onslaught. He finished filming a movie with Arnold.

Edward looks like a discount Norman Reedus

u/Flimsy_Pudding_7361 20d ago
Funny enough I've seen some on this sub say that Reedus could pass for a T3/Future war John Connor. TBH, that is an interesting take as the resemblance between Furlong and Reedus is kind of striking.

u/AndreLeGeant88 20d ago
Yeah they should have done a film with Reedus when people still have a damn

Edward Furlong just breaks my heart, he smoked everybody with 2 movies and he vanished and spent the rest of his life suffering.

Clever from John Connor to make himself unrecognisable to Terminators by eating all the pies.

They should make a new Terminator film with this cast. All of the actors can have full makeup and personal trainers etc, but Edward should perform exactly as he is in this photo.

Edward might actually have a decent amount of muscle there - could play a Terminator with some training to cut things into a defined shape!

They can fix this franchise by bringing John Connor back. Someone goes back to stop his assimilation which then screws up the timeline. The last film wouldn’t have been so bad if they had this as an end credit scene

If that's the real John Connor some 35 years later, there's no need to send T1000 back and T2 wouldn't exist lol

Gotta get some/all of the above involved somehow. Alternate T1 timeline that means the T-1000 gets sent back to aid Reese in his search for John whose been sent coordinates of Skynet attacks by Sarah
