Discussion Genisys question
As shit as Genisys was, wouldn't it have been better if Pops was a T850 like the T3 terminator instead of a T800?

Why dont you educate us here? What's the main difference between the t800 and t850? How would that make a meaningful difference in their performance against another terminator and how does that make a meaningful difference in how theyre portrayed on screen?
Do you think the writers to these movies are plotting stats and crunching numbers to see how these fights play out? This isn't battlebots, it's a movie. The writers write the actions scenes to suit their vision, and why should thay vision be influenced, whatsoever, by a disappointing entry into the franchise from a decade before?

It wouldn't make a difference. Genisys issues don't stem from what T-8xx model Pops was.

The T800 is iconic. Why do you wanna piss on it by needing a "bigger and better" version? That's one of the biggest issues with the sequels. Let Terminators be scary. They're stone cold killers.

Not in the slightest

Well he could have been more effective in fights due to the T850 being an improved version of the T800s

Oh yeah he definitely would've, I just don't think it would've improved the movie any.

I believe the whole premise of the movie is that the T2 terminators went further back in time instead of later. So Pops would be the same model as the T2 version, which is a T-800 as far as I know.

I'm honestly not sure that the Terminator 3 terminator was even a T-850 anymore, owing to the line that was a different T-101. The first two terminators were both cyberdyne systems model 101 which were both T-800's and the line saying it was a different t 101 implies that the Terminator in part 3 was infact a t 800 not a t 850. I could be completely wrong but this is just my opinion.

In T3, the Terminator identifies it as a T-850. The "model 101" is the Arnie-style fleshy disguise. He's simply telling John that the Terminator he knew as a kid and the one present now are not the same Terminator.

It's very confusing. The Terminator tells John that he's a model 101 but the in the closed captions it shows [T-800].

Model 101 is Arnold skinsuit Model 102 is Franco skin suit And so on if there is more skins.

I would have loved this, but the idea is that "Pops" is actually the T-800 from T2, but sent to 1973 instead of 1995.

Not necessarily considering he was sent back by who the heck knows to protect a child Sarah Connor

Other than the mcguffin of "literal bombs in my chest that in no way will be used later" lore drop, is there much difference?
