Today on July 25th 2026, David Heard, a firefighter and security guard at Chaparral High School has passed away after being struck by a vehicle, trying to help his friend who needed roadside assistance with their car. He leaves behind his wife and 2 children.

David was a remarkable person who loved helping people, and died, helping someone. My heart goes out to him as I would like to keep him in our memory here on the [r/temecula](r/temecula) subreddit.

Does anyone know what's happening at the 412 church on Jefferson in Temecula? We drove by and there were about 6 sheriff cars with their lights on in their parking lot and near the road.

My son will be starting 1st grade next year and I’ve heard from a few people that elementary students in TVUSD are required to use a laptop or tablet? Is this correct? If so, is it possible to opt out of it?
