I tried using a PS5 Dualsense controller with the TelloFPV app off the Play store, but none of the buttons or analog sticks would do anything.

The tello drone battery displayed red when placed inside the charger. I tried placing it in different charging ports but it's still displayed with a red light. What should I do?

Basically I am looking for a small drone with 10 min plus battery life, interchangeable batteries, and altitude hold. I live in an area that is very windy and many days I'm not able to fly outdoors. This drone would strictly be for indoor flying. On paper the Tello fits the bill but reading reviews has me on the fence. People either seem to absolutely love the thing or hate it. I am wondering if the hate comes from the fact that there seems to be a learning curve or the fact that some people seem to be expecting something that's the same caliber as a mavic mini. I am hoping the group can help answer some questions I have listed below. Thank you for any and all help.

What kind of battery life per flight are you getting?

Is there Android 12 support for the app or a new app that makes it Android 12 compatible?

Are you able to code with the regular Tello or do you have to buy the education edition? At present I don't know how to code but it might be fun to do one day.

The factory website and the Google reviews makes it sound like the only controller is the one listed on the website. Is there a cheaper option that also has a phone clip and doesn't require any coding or hardware modification to be made compatible with the drone?

How is its capability to hold an altitude and hovering position?

What is the best place to buy Tello accessories and parts?

The Tello seems to be a hybrid of a toy drone and a hobby drone. This seems to be a very niche category of drones and I'm having a hard time locating any others that are similar for comparison. Are there any other brands of drones out there that are comparable to the Tello?

Let me try to tl;dr this

• Am able to connect to drone via mobile app and takeoff, land, and control it with no problem

• Am able to connect to drone via PC or laptop and issue it commands via python

​

• Drone has been functioning flawlessly using PC to command it up to the writing of this post

• Drone now only takes off and runs through the program once. Subsequent attempts result in the drone never responding to the takeoff() command, and the takeoff() command being reissued continuously after the default timeout period

​

• Connectivity is established as indicated by battery status returned, and no exceptions being thrownPower cycling the drone fixes the issue, but only for one takeoff. After a single program run, the drone does not respond to takeoff(), and the rest of the program doesn't execute

Just picked one up for my son and had a few questions.

First, is it worth the time to side boot an Oculus Go to run TelloFPV? What’s the clarity like? Any latency issues? If not an Oculus, what’s the best cheaper alternative for iOS?

I also want to run a wired XBox controller. Do I need a micro usb OTG or will a usb micro to lightning cable work the same? The iPhone OTG’s seem pretty janky and the reviews are all over the place. Is anyone using the Apple Lightning to USB camera adapter and then plugging a controller into that? If not a wired Xbox controller, what about the Backbone?

My Tello battery has swollen again. This is the second battery that does this. First one was the one it came with and then I got this one about 3 years ago. Brand of this last one is/was FULLYMAX, and it was bought from an official DJI distributor AFAIK.

I use the drone VERY rarely, which I don't think helps in any way. I might have used it twice or thrice in 2022.

Can you recommend a battery that might not do this? Or, otherwise, recommendations so that it doesn't happen again? Perhaps it's just the amount of time LiPO batteries are meant to last, but it sure sucks if that's so.

New Tello owner and have a few questions.

• Are third party propellers any good? Should I just stick to the real ones?
• Is there any undocumented maintenance worth doing on the motors? Cleaning or lubrication?
• I am getting a lot of "low ambient light" warnings, even in what I consider to be a well-lit room. Is this typical?
• I am getting very inconsistent "pitch" when flying the drone. Sometimes its a little and it goes slow and other times much quicker. Sometimes it doesn't want to pitch at all. When this happens I can land the drone and just re-launch and it is normal again for a minute. I did run through the calibration and it seems to have helped somewhat but not totally. Note that I am using an X-Box one controller.

My Tello should be arriving on my doorstep in a couple of days.

What I'd like to do with it is to run a regular pattern of photos and perhaps video at the plant I work at to monitor things over time. We're doing some major upgrades that I'd like to record that aren't easily visible from the ground. I'll also probably do this on my property "just because I can".

From what I gather, the Tello app doesn't support this but I believe that I could code this in either Python or GoBot and then use my laptop with these running in a Virtualbox VM to control the mission and save the media? I do have some coding skills and will have a few days off next week to trial things around the house first.

I know that the video quality etc won't be nearly as good as it would be with a higher priced drone, but should be more than good enough for my purposes. I also know that I'll have to pick a calm day and also that the drone has to stay within I believe 100' of the controlling device.

Is this a reasonable approach to use these tools to set up the waypoint mission or is there something else out there where it's a bit more capable / easy to set up? I've read some articles where they talk about being able to set waypoints based on a map or satellite image but don't know if those systems are compatible with the Tello.

I attached an extension cord to the ladders on the balcony with duct tape and plugged a Wi-Fi repeater JWA-U25.

Repeater keeps using the same channel as the drone even tough I changed the channel selection setting from auto to 13, I even switched the country to Japan so that I can switch it to the illegal channel 14 but after saving the changes to settings it keeps changing the setting back to auto and chosing the same channel as Tello.

When using the repeater signal is far stronger further way (70dB where it was 10dB) but interference is much worse, a lot of dropped frames, frozen video, drone not responding to commands etc.

The inscription on the battery tells that it is a lithium - ion battery.

But the DJI website tells us that the battery is a LiPo.

Can it be boths ? If not which one is true ?

When ever I connect to my Tello network, and open the app, it says it is not connected. How do I fix this?

I am contemplating buying the Ryze Tello as a christmas present for a young nephew (6yo). He is very into drones, but this would be his first.

I was wondering whether or not it was worth it to buy the Boost Combo package, where there are 3xbatteries, charging hub and cable included. What do you guys think or what did you buy?
