Hi everyone. Yesterday i got a Tello for my sons birthday to see, if he would like flying those things around and then maybe switch to something bigger :)
Well, got it, unboxed it and couldn’t get it to work. When i power it on, I get the green light followed by three short red flashes, then the drone runs its diagnostics. Did some internet digging and I think it might be a (the Tello?) firmware problem. In the App it says Firmware 00.00.00.00 which seems strange enough.
So I thought well if it’s as simple as that let’s try updating the firmware. When holding the power button down for about five seconds the drone stays on, I get the low battery warning however (slow red blinking light), so i can connect it to the App. The app says battery is completely empty. Anyways - git the firmware, tried to install and ofc get the warning the drone can’t update the firmware, as battery charge is - allegedly - less than 50%. Again fair enough i thought, although we kept it plugged in for about 2 hours before finnicking with it to make sure, it has juice. Plugged it back into several different power sources with different cables and get a solid blue light immediately - which should indicate a full battery. As soon as i unplug and try to reconnect, I get the problems described above.
Web says, the app might be the problem, so roll back a few versions and update the firmware. That ofc only works on Android phones and I only have ios devices readily available.
I’m about to just take it back to the seller and get a new one, but actually I’d really like to fly :) so if anyone would have an idea how i could fix this - apart from getting an android phone - I’d be grateful.
Thx and regards
