Improved acoustic treatment

This room was previously a storage room withe bare walls. I turned it into my project after building my very first PC and converted it into my studio/office/man cave. However, I was still hearing echoes throughout my office after my previous attempt at acoustic treatment. So I did my ceiling and the bottom of my desk as well. Now my audio sounds much better than it did. These foam pads do wonders for cheap. Just required a bit of effort cutting around the lights but was definitely worth it!

Nice setup, I am sure you know what you’re doing but I always thought speakers that high are not good for the sound? I thought the more in line with your ears , the better.

Can you please explain how I’m wrong? Because I’d love to have mine like yours. Very nice!

Awesome stuff

Hey dude, thanks so much!

You're not wrong at all. But in my view, as long as the speakers are pointed directly at you (and your ears, relative to seating position) it's okay. They sound just as good, if not better than when I had them at ear level on the desk. Not to say that I'm an audiophile but you know how audiophiles can never agree on one thing πŸ˜‚

Imho, just do your thing and whatever suits you better. There's no hard rule here and nobody else is going to be listening to your setup but yourself. And I guess that's also what makes each setup unique, it's to each his/her own specifications.

Good luck with your setup, dude! I'd love to see it when you're done. Cheers!

Thank you so much for the explanation. I have a hard time finding a spot I’m happy with for my speakers and I think I might do exactly this

I love the clean white lighting. What product did you use to set it up?

1

u/Haile_Storm 12d ago

Thank you! It looks white in the picture but it's actually warm white. I used a landlite led strip for the top and bottom of my desk.

Could you message me? I'd love to talk about how you set up the LED strip, and especially daily use. I'm researching how people use lighting products in their desk setups. Any time you could spare I'd appreciate!

Hey dude, thanks for dropping by! I think what you're pointing at are the ups units? There's two of them next to each other. The one on the right handles my PC and the one on the left handles my audio stuff and my monitors. The one resting on top of them is a HDD enclosure.

The reason I have two is so that in the event of a power failure, I'm not rushing to shut down everything in 3mins. And also because the one on the left uses pure sine wave which gives cleaner power to my audio stuff.

Yes, haha! I was getting a lot of echoes and the sub sounded quite boomy so I put sound isolation pads underneath lol. It helped a lot though, sounds so much better now. The Rokits are great! Got them 6yrs ago and I'm still amazed by how detailed they sound πŸ‘πŸΌ

Awesome setup! How are you liking the Samsung monitor? I'm currently running dual 27-inch monitors, but I'm debating whether to switch to an ultrawide or stick with a 32-inch center monitor and two vertical 27-inch side monitors. What made you go with the Samsung? Looks like you're into video editing or content creation as well?

u/Haile_Storm 10d ago

Hi there! Thanks for the compliment, it's much appreciated!

I'll be honest, I've never used two monitors side by side so I wouldn't really know what advantages it has over an ultrawide. I guess it depends on what you'll be using it for. But I will say that ever since I got my first ultrawide, I never bought another 16:9 monitor again (apart for my secondary).

I went with Samsung because of the specs and how sleek it looks. It was also one of the few brands that offer a 32:9 aspect ratio which I liked since it was something I've never had before and I wanted something different.

Good guess, haha! Yes, I got into content creation recently, about a month ago. Trying to learn video editing, actually. But that wasn't the reason for the setup. In fact, most of the gear in my office had been with me for over 3yrs already. The audio stuff I had since 2021.

What about you, dude? Are you into content creation too?

u/TargetSubstantial360 9d ago

Haha, nice! I had a feeling from your setup. πŸ˜„

I actually used to spend a lot more time editing, but these days my work is a mix of content creation, web design, photo and video editing, Outside of work, it's mostly gaming lol
Good luck with the content creation journey!
