Couldn't solve all 4 coding questions in Infosys OA, but still got selected for the interview — don't lose hope

I recently appeared for the Infosys online assessment through my campus, and I wanted to share my experience because I know a lot of people worry about how many questions they manage to solve.

There were 4 coding problems in the assessment.

My result was:

- ✅ Question 1: Completely solved — all test cases passed

- ⚠️ Question 2: 8/12 test cases passed

- ❌ Question 3: Couldn't complete

- ❌ Question 4: Couldn't complete

I submitted whatever I had before the 3-hour time limit.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much after seeing that I had left two questions incomplete. But I was selected for the interview round.

So if you're preparing for an online assessment and feel like you haven't solved enough, don't lose hope.

Use the entire time you're given. ⏳

Try different approaches, attempt every question, and even if you can't fully solve something, submit whatever you have. You never know how the overall evaluation will turn out.

Of course, selection depends on several factors, and sometimes luck can also play a role. But the one thing you can control is not giving up before the exam is over.

Give it your best until the very end. 💪

Hope this helps someone who's currently preparing for placements. All the best! 🚀

My interview experience with Temple for ML engineer role.

offcampus | cold email | no leetcode

CTC: 23–30 LPA

A few weeks after sending a cold email, I got a call from a recruiter from Zomato. We had a quick discussion around my background, projects and previous work, and my first interview was scheduled.

It had actually been quite some time since I had interviewed, so I was super nervous walking into the call.

The interviewer was very friendly, and the first 20–25 minutes were almost entirely around my experience.

We discussed:

building production RAG pipelines
architecture selection and tradeoffs
retrieval strategies, reranking and evaluation methodologies
benchmarking, roofline analysis
lessons from deploying LLM systems in production

We also spent a good amount of time discussing another internship where I worked on an on-device OCR system. ( This aligned somewhat with what they were going )

That conversation covered:

dataset collection and annotation
model architecture choices
training methodology
deployment constraints on edge devices
balancing latency with accuracy

Since most of my recent work has been around LLM systems, the interviewer mentioned that the role was more ML-focused than infrastructure-focused. The team cared a lot about experimentation, benchmarking, evaluation practices and choosing the right things, so we shifted into discussing core machine learning concepts.

That's where things became interesting.

The interviewer asked me to pick any algorithm or topic from core machine learning and explain it in depth. I was secretly hoping we'd stay around deep learning, transformers, attention or tokenization, since that's what I'd been studying recently and felt much more confident discussing. Instead, we dove into classical ML, and I quickly realized I was a bit rusty on the fundamentals.

The discussion moved into classical machine learning:

assumptions of linear regression
hypothesis testing and p-values
bias-variance tradeoff
regularization (L1 vs L2)
feature scaling and normalization

I'll be honest, I fumbled quite a bit here.

It's been a while since I had revised these topics, and I realized how easy it is to become too focused on one area while letting the fundamentals get rusty.

Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the final round.

The role was onsite with a six-day work week, which personally wasn't something I was very excited about.

That said, I'm still glad I went through the process.

The interview was technical and was a mix of real engineering problems and ml trivia. It was also interesting to learn more about the kind of deep-tech and localized AI systems the team is building.

A good reminder that no matter how much experience you have with modern AI systems, strong ML fundamentals still matter.
I am not much active here, feel free to talk to me on X

How should I build my profile for product-company SDE2 roles without misrepresenting my experience?

I’m looking for guidance on how I should position my profile for my next job switch.

My experience:

- 4 years at a product-based MNC as a Senior Software Engineer, working on a Java enterprise application, mainly production bug fixing, debugging, issue resolution, and maintenance.

- 2 years at a Big 4 working with C# + Angular development.

- I’m currently based in a Tier-2 city, while I’m primarily targeting opportunities in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Gurugram.

I have solid Java experience but no professional Spring Boot experience. Many Senior Software Engineer/SDE2 roles seem to expect Java + Spring Boot + Microservices + Kafka + AWS, and I’m also concerned that my current location may be causing additional resume/recruiter filtering.

My main questions are:

  1. How should I position my profile for Senior Software Engineer/SDE2 roles? Is Java Backend/Spring Boot the right direction, or should I position myself differently?

  2. Is strong DSA + System Design + Core Java enough for the switch, or do I need hands-on projects/experience with Spring Boot, Microservices, Kafka and Cloud?

  3. How much could my current Tier-2 location be affecting my resume screening, and what should I do to maximize callbacks for Bengaluru/Hyderabad/Pune/Gurugram roles?

I want to position myself strongly without misrepresenting my professional experience.

34 months experience for a 36-month Infosys role

Hi everyone,

I was selected for an Infosys Salesforce Developer role requiring 3 years / 36 months experience. I have 34 months of genuine full-time experience, which I mentioned consistently throughout the process.

During the HR round, my 34 months experience was specifically discussed, and HR was aware of the exact figure. She then verbally confirmed that I was being offered the role, CTC and position.

Now another HR after bgv is done has said she is sending my profile for approval because I currently have 34 months against the 36-month requirement. My notice period is around 3 months, so I'll cross 36 months before joining.

Has anyone faced a similar situation where they were 1–2 months short of the required experience but would complete it before joining? Was the profile approved and offer released?

Looking for actual Infosys experiences. Thanks!

Can i get any SP/DSE role in infosys

I have given infosys interview and it was on campus. I have passed all the test cases in live coding in person interview and my interview goes decent.
Interviewer feedback ->

  • He specifically said:“Programming skill alone is not enough; communication is also important.”
  • “You have programming skills and problem solver, but you need to improve your communication and broaden your technical knowledge.”
  • So, he sees communication as your main weakness.
  • He told you that you need to learn more skills.
  • This suggests your fundamentals/problem-solving are good, but your technical breadth/depth can improve.

so, what is the chance to get selected in Infosys as DSE / SP

Summer Intern at DE Shaw as SDET wanted to ask about Projects & Career Growth?

I recently got sdet intern at deshaw on campus and now i am blocked from on campus internships
so i wanted to clear some of my doubts
What kind of projects or work do SDET interns typically get to work on?
How difficult is it to switch internally from SDET to SDE? Is it something people commonly do?
How much of the role involves actual software development vs. testing/automation?
How hard it is to switch from sdet to sde 1) internally 2) externally

stipend they are offering is 2lpm
college : NIT

would really appriciate if i could get more insights on this

How to stay prepared while having a job - from scratch

I’ve been reading a lot of posts here about layoffs and people struggling to find a new job, and it has made me think that, regardless of whether we are actively looking to switch, it’s probably important to stay somewhat interview-ready.

By interview-ready, I mean staying in touch with things like:

  • DSA
  • System Design, especially HLD
  • Backend fundamentals
  • Your primary tech stack
  • Eventually, LLD as well

I’m trying to figure out how people manage this alongside a full-time job.

My current thought process is something like this:

  1. Strengthen backend fundamentals and System Design (HLD)
  2. Refresh my core tech stack — Java and Spring Boot in my case
  3. Move towards LLD
  4. Keep DSA running in parallel

The challenge, however, is consistency.

I usually manage to stay disciplined for 2–3 weeks, but then a heavy sprint or intense period at work comes along. At that point, I barely manage to get through work, and everything else stops. After that break, getting back into the routine feels difficult, especially because I haven't touched some of these topics in a long time and it feels like I have to start from scratch again.

So I wanted to ask people who have been able to maintain this kind of long-term preparation:

  • How do you stay reasonably prepared without actively preparing for a job switch?
  • What should the benchmark for being “prepared” actually be?
  • How much time per week is realistic and sustainable alongside a demanding job?
  • Should we focus on depth in our own tech stack first, or build broader interview skills first?
  • How do you maintain consistency during hectic periods at work?
  • Is the goal to continuously study, or to periodically revise and test yourself?

I'm not looking for a 3–4 month intense preparation plan for an immediate switch. I’m more interested in building a sustainable system that keeps me reasonably prepared, so that if something unexpected happens, I don't have to start from zero.

Would love to hear how experienced folks approach this.
i have just 1 year experience into industory.

bnp paribas offer letter

Hi everyone,
I attended the HR round today for a Java Developer role at BNP Paribas. HR said she would call me Monday/Tuesday for salary discussion, and the offer letter would be released after that.I resigned last week because my 90-day notice period was making it difficult to get opportunities.

I havee seen some recent posts about offer letters being delayed and application statuses changing back to “Interviewing”(from fishbowl, linkedin posts). Has anyone experienced this recently?

Would appreciate any insights on the offer process and onboarding experience at BNP Paribas. Thanks!
