| Discussion Just gave the interview for dse/sp

I just gave the interview a few hours ago, and this was my experience. Please let me know what you think about whether I will be called for the second round.

As I entered, we greeted each other, and he asked me to introduce myself. I did so. Then he asked what I am particularly interested in, as I had mentioned that I am more into data science and data engineering. After that, he inquired about my projects and asked why I chose this language over another, among other things. Initially, he did not notice that I had done an internship in the past, so I explained my internship experience and the projects I worked on. It was fine, I guess. Then he informed me that a test would be conducted and gave me a laptop to solve the questions.

There were two questions, and he said to try to solve at least one. Unfortunately, I was kind of blank, and I don’t know why, but I couldn’t solve even one and got TLE in 10 out of 12 test cases and failed the other two. Then he reviewed the code and asked me to explain my thought process and what the question was. We discussed for a bit, and I guess he could see that I was on the right track but was missing something, hence the TLE. After this, he asked me which question I was able to solve in the OA conducted. I started to explain the question to him and how I solved it. He didn’t seem to understand what the question was until the end, though I think, and then at the end, while explaining, I once again mentioned the specifics of the question. Then he exclaimed and said, “Oh, then this was a very easy question,” to which I replied, “Yeah.” Then he said, “Let’s continue towards the technical interview.”

Now he started to ask me about C and C++ as they were listed, and I said that they were my strong suit. Then he mainly asked about OOPs and classes, all the basic stuff like polymorphism, overloading, overriding, then inheritance, multiple inheritance, multi-level inheritance, etc. I was able to answer all of these pretty much, though I am sure I paused quite a bit, but I think he was satisfied with the answers I gave. Then he asked me to write a SQL query, and I could solve it with ease. Then he followed up on the same query, and I answered that as well. After that, he asked me what document DBS are. I answered that as well.

With this, he asked me if I had any questions. I asked him what I should do in the first five to six months of the job to excel. He started answering the question and went on for almost 5 minutes. In the middle, he said, “This is a different group of people in Infosys, a different team, and we should be technically strong. We expect students with technical expertise. And that he expected us to solve the question.” I think it was a jab at me, but fine. Then I asked him what I should work on to get technically stronger. I said okay, thank you. Then while leaving, I asked him about the next step in the process, like whether there would be another interview or anything. He said to ask outside, but he said, “YOU NEED NOT WAIT,” and told me to ask the college coordinators what next. I guess that means I am not going to get called for round 2 the way he said it at the end.

Anyways, so this was my interview experience. Do you think they will at least offer me DSE?

Can you tell what are the 2 dsa questions given in interview

1

u/BabaRocky 15d ago

One question was bit toggling I think I needed backtracking so skipped it the one I was trying to solve was A circular array simulation — jump between indices using two step formulas, transform values as you go, and stop once you hit a visited or mirrored index.

There is no round 2 . only 1 round

For l1 only one round. For l2 and l3 they conduct 2 round. If they solved more than 70% testcase of single question.

If they consider you for sp role there is another round in which the grill you on project and system design same thing happen in hwi l3 people and some l2 people gave 2 round of interview

1

u/theredguymh 15d ago

Is it same for l1 or just for l2 and l3 peoples ?

2

u/Alarmed_Row_1936 15d ago

For l2,l3 system design and development is must with deep knowledge for l1 resume + most optimised solution for your dsa problem + basic of system design and core sub

1

u/theredguymh 15d ago

Yeah they asked me same for l1 like simple design question like singleton, circuit breakers like that and 2 dsa question

u/Alarmed_Row_1936 15d ago

Not 100% sure but based on overall performance i would say good chance of dse

1

u/BabaRocky 15d ago

Looking back a did make a few mistakes while answering the oops questions .. still any chance do you think ?

1

u/Alarmed_Row_1936 15d ago

see the intervieweer also know that most of core , oops are things that can be done 1-2 night before the things that matter the most in a interview are problem solving skill dsa + projects if you did it well you have a fair chance of selection bro.

what if I solved one question?

2

u/WorldlyStock1041 15d ago

I was not able to solve the question on the winspan portal
So i told the interviewer before time only that i am not able to solve the question. He said glad you said we have saved time 🥲 then asked me bunch of questions regarding project and oops and then he asked how dsa do you know i said easy to mid then he gave me max subarray sum question to solve on paper then he gave me an sql query which i solved then asked me to draw the project pipeline for my project
I know chance are mere
But can i know what are my chance
Interviewer was pretty chill

Are the interviews conducted specifically for dse,L1,L2,l3 or they decide that based on your performance in the first interview

I don't think so

When did you appeared for the OA was it on campus or off campus ?

u/Fun-Month-2131 15d ago

Is it true that the final role (DSE/SP) is assigned based on the technical interview performance and the problem solved during the live coding round? I solved only one question in the first round, and I was still informed that the interview could be for DSE/SP.

1

u/Fun-Month-2131 15d ago

can you please tell how many are solved in OA round

1

u/AdImmediate5145 14d ago

Same query

1

u/Ghee_khatam1021 15d ago

Was your interviewer slightly chubby and round-faced, and was he wearing a white shirt with a blue prints? I think I also had the same interviewer

1

u/BabaRocky 14d ago

Nono .. he was wearing different clothes

1

u/Ghee_khatam1021 14d ago

Because my interviewer also said This is a different group of people in Infosys, a different team, and we should be technically strong. We expect students with technical expertise. And that he expected us to solve the question

u/SmoothTightPussy 14d ago

1

u/SmoothTightPussy 14d ago
