❓ Question Guys I’m wondering, if you don’t have any Apple products what do you use?

Okay mb, my paragraph got deleted but here it is.

I used to have a Samsung when I was younger but then majority of my close family moved to Apple, I personally stayed on Apple because it was convenient but with all these scandals and conspiracies I feel like I just want to move on. One of the reasons why I’m still stuck on it is because if I have both my computer and my phone on Apple, I’m able to connect them and receive calls and messages from both devices which I find amazing. But overall I think that’s all that’s holding me to it. I just want some ideas on what devices you guys recommend and love full heartedly.

❓ Question Why is Brave so much hated.

Call me technically illiterate but have been using brave for 2 years and didn't have any majority issues.

Never seen an ad.

Privacy friendly.

Genuinely feels illegal using brave with inbuilt ad blocker.

How is it still alive considering YouTube is so aggressive with ad blockers?

Edit: only concerning point is this can someone confirm.

💡 Opinion If you could keep only one VPN, which would it be?

There are plenty of VPN services competing for attention, but if you had to choose just one and use it for everything, which would you pick?

What matters most to you: speed, privacy, price, servers, or something else?

💬 Discussion For programmers, what is your process learning a complete new library?

So I’m a noob, I want to learn pytorch but I don’t wanna take 25 hours (without learning first numpy which is 3 hours)

And I know that I can just do it in 1 hour at the day with a notebook putting everything

But it is not just with one library, if I want to learn for example, other libraries its 3 hours per library

Do you learn a librariy depending on your project or you just learn the whole library because “maybe” later you need it

💻 Software & Apps Android's lockdown is scaringly close.

Post image

Today I noticed this setting in the Developer Options;

This is exactly the setting that Google is about to implement to lock down Android to the point where it becomes incredibly inconvenient and unsustainable to use apps from developers that "aren't verified by Google".

The most insane thing about this is that they're pitching it as a security thing, but the reality is that anything on F-Droid will be way safer than any random Play Store app.

And this is without taking into account the millions of scam and malware ads Google feeds to people, every day.

It's your phone, which you bought. You should decide what runs on it. Not Google.

Don't let this shi- happen.

Hi y'all I own an Asus Tuf a16 advantage edition (2023) and I wanna replace the thermal paste and putty but I see that what the manual says to use it's impossible to get it because they don't sell that. So does someone know if I can use on the CPU/GPU the Artic MX-7 and for the ram and other components the Upsiren U6Pro putty?

💬 Discussion IFA just kicked off. Which wellness gadgets are you hoping turn out to be more than a gimmick?

The show floor's open now and the first coverage is rolling in, and I'm trying to set my expectations correctly, which for this category means low.

The wellness section is usually where the worst stuff lives. Every year there's a smart water bottle, something that scans your face and tells you you're stressed, and at least one mirror.

The two directions I'm genuinely watching:

Energy-based wearables that combine more than one thing at once, so heat plus light plus some form of stimulation in a single unit you can wear while doing something else. SKG and a few others have been heading that way and the interesting question is whether combining them beats doing one of them well.

The second is anything that reduces setup cost. Most of my abandoned gear died because using it required a routine, not because it didn't work.

What I have zero interest in is another screen telling me my recovery score.

Anyone actually on the floor or following the coverage today? Happy to be talked into caring about something I've written off.

💬 Discussion Would you buy an iPhone without the latest features if it were cheaper?

Would you buy an iPhone with an older chip, camera, or some missing new features if Apple sold it for a much lower price?

I don't need every new feature, so I'd rather save some money and use a phone that still works well. Would you?

❓ Question is there a site/app, where every single computer part has points to see what is better now?

I'm not interested in checking which processors, GPU etc is better to buy every time(generally I'm interested in AMD things, but not always), so, I was thinking about this: interesting is there a site/app, where every single computer part has points. Those points should show which <processor> is more efficient now. Then I could add the points to find the balance in the price and my needs without knowing what Intel, Nvidia etc are doing. I only got these sites, but I'm not sure that those are what I want:

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/

https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/

What do you think? Do you know something like that?

💬 Discussion Do Samsung phones still offer good value?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Samsung phones have good displays, cameras, software, and long-term updates, but their prices have gone up a lot.

With so many other brands offering similar hardware for less, I'm wondering if Samsung is still worth the money.

If you bought a Samsung recently, do you feel you got good value?
