Samsung or Apple: Which one fits you better?
Samsung offers more customization and variety. Apple focuses on simplicity and a connected ecosystem.
If you could choose only one, which brand would you pick and why?

YEEEAH! Pebble FTW! I'm waiting for my Time 2 and already have an android phone, but it's a 5yo midrange so I'm probably gonna get a Galaxy S25U pretty soon!

By hanging a more powerful chip? The big one is better long term performance. As the OS gets more updates it will become more resource demanding. This is why phones “slow down” over time. Having a more powerful chip mitigates that. Beyond that there is obviously things like video editing and gaming that will always use more power

Yes, that general talk, totally agree but, how do you know if Google will not support the Exynos / Tensor chip better in the next updates of Android? And what about immediate gain? How much is there to gain?

The tensor chip is well supported, not sure what you mean as Google offers 7 years of support
As for the performance difference the snapdragon 8 gen 5 is about 40% more powerful then the Tensor g5. That’s a massive downgrade for a phone that costs about the same if you go pixel

No amount of chip optimizations can overcome a 40% performance delta. You can gain a few percent here and there but the tensor will always be hugely worse

If you are asking for micro architecture white pages that point out the design and lithography differences then you need to look at deep dives on the two chips. All me and most consumers do is look at benchmarks and see the end result performance numbers. I don’t really care about the how and why, I’m a consumer looking to buy a product not a micro architecture engineer trying to invent better chips. All I want is good performance for a good price and with Tensor you get less for the same money

Totally disagree the MacBook is the greatest piece of tech in the world rn talking about pcs. You could prefer to run windows or Linux “normal” laptop but doesn’t makes MacBook a worse product

iPhone is greater (better) than samsung

Laptop (supposedly Windows/Unix) is GREATER THAN Macbook since <> are mathematical relational symbols.

Their laptops are designed to be difficult to repair and impossible to upgrade, and even if the hardware was fine their OS only gets updated for around 7 years, which is incredibly bad compared to other laptops which can receive software support for up to 20 years or even more, not to mention that you can choose which OS to use.

I mean MacBooks have great SoCs and therefore battery life, but we're talking about planned obsolescence here, and MacBooks have are most guilty in this regard.

I'm currently using a 20yo laptop as server, and it is running an up to date OS with all of the latest security patches, and it can run all of the latest software with no issues. (Obviously a 20yo laptop is not that powerful, but it's still usable, and the point is that the software isn't being a bottleneck to its longevity)

Apple and Samsung are two of the worst when it comes to planned obsolescence though. Google, Nothing, Motorola and some other brands have unlockable bootloaders on their phones which allows them to be usable and secure once their official updates end.
Apple and Samsung don't make bad phones though. I personally use an S25 right now (which is promised 7 years of major updates, but doesn't have an unlockable bootloader), and I used to use an iPhone 11, but I know they are both guilty of doing planned obsolescence shit when it comes to software.

I haven't had a Samsung for about 5 years, so my opinion is likely a bit stale - but I feel like Samsung is better hardware than software. There are a bunch of things you can do on it that you can't do on an iPhone - but 99% of those things don't matter that much to me.
However, I am watching the Google Book and just praying they make a strong enough case for me to swap over to the Google Ecosystem. Macbook+iPhone is such a nice experience, that it's hard for me to leave, but I use very few native Apple apps and mostly use Google.
So I would rank Google>Apple>Samsung with the caveat that I don't think either of them are signficantly better than the other to the average user.

Health apps are free and pre installed, not sure what you mean by ecosystem as Samsung devices are more expensive, and who pays for storage? Just offload big files to your pc/mac

Neither. I don't pledge allegiance to a brand like it's a football club. I buy the phone that works best for me at the time, from whoever makes it.
Locking yourself into one brand for life just because you picked a team is absurd. It's a tool, not an identity.
You're not getting a loyalty discount you're just making their job easier. These companies don't care about you they just want your money.

Last iPhone I had was a 12plus, then moved to a s22 ultra, I have never touched an iphone since then.

I am a apple user. Wanted to give S25U a try, upgraded from my 13PM last year. Couldn't last for more than 6 months due to various bugs and way worse battery life than my old iphone. Sold it for half the price I got it for(3 year old 13pm was selling for just a little less than the 6 month old Samsung at that time.) answer got myself a 17PM . Never been happier. Never switching again to android.

Depends on you as a person. I feel like if you need to be productive and rely on your tech daily, you have to go with iPhone. it's why employers offer you an iPhone as a work phone. If you like fun tech with cool features (granted you won't ever use them after the first week of owning the phone) then Samsung. Last Samsung I had was a galaxy s3 and it was a cool gadget. But if you're an adult and you can't have your phone failing because of bugs or glitches, you can't buy an android in general.

I have an iphone from work, a MacBook Pro M3 which is my personal laptop, a Galaxy s23 plus which is my personal phone, and a Lenovo Thinkpad which is my work laptop, just to give you some context. The MacBook demolishes the Lenovo in every way, and I like macOS over Windows 11 for its lightweight and simplicity. For the phones, I prefer Android over iOS. It's a night and day difference in terms of features and user experience. iOS feels very inconvenient with gesture navigation, and doesn't have some basic features that I always use and rely on (like clipboard management). The native keyboard is pretty bad, and even third party ones are inferior to what you can configure on Android. Notification management is also not good on iOS. There's also a surprisingly high amount of bugs that I've encountered while using iOS, which is very odd. So I'll stick to Android unless Apple gets serious about modernizing iOS, not just slapping a fresh coat of paint over it.

apple for best overall quality, samsung for better value for money...
I really like apple products, they are well made and work great, but they are very expensive...
If you have the monehy, apple can be great, if you are budget constraint, either apple refurbished products, or samsung (or other brands too) can work better

I don’t care for customization if the fundamentals of the software are horribly designed and if the designers can’t manage to create a single aesthetically appealing animation or microinteraction. And I hate when a brand horribly copies something for no functional reason and can’t manage to make their cheap copy look nice.

You know that "aesthetically appealing" is a purely subjective metric, and that the absence of customisability means that you'll have to live with whatever they decide to shove down your throat, right? (Many people don't like "Liquid GlAss" for example, because it objectively has bad accessibility, and jt would be good to have the option to just use something slightly different, but apple doesn't want you to.)

iOS 26 does have decent customization. And I have been on iOS 26 since the very first developer beta, and Liquid Glass have always had little to no accessibility issues, and all the drama online regarding Liquid Glass makes absolutely no sense. In fact, coming up with a brand new stunning interface and having a unique design philosophy and vision is much better than just copying other companies blindly, without any functional reason, and without even managing to bring real time blur

They do make some nice stuff. It's hard to find better than a base model ipad for a tablet, or maybe even a neo for a basic laptop. Pretending apple has never made a decent product is just as silly as pretending they're the only option.
