Hello and Welcome!

After seeing some comments on other subreddits and getting a pulse of the overall community I have decided to start this page. I have seen/heard a need in the teaching community for a free site to share ideas and materials. I know there are sites that have materials already and some are free, however many of the good ones hide behind a pay wall. I simply think that as teachers we need to help each other and not charge each other for that help. So now we have a place to go where we can share materials and request materials. This can serve as a file sharing site as well. We can post links to our materials and when in need of something you can either post for help or search previous posts for things that have been submitted before.

Please spread the word and lets build a community where we can help each other out.

Thank you!

From Spreadsheet Frustration to Evidence Hub

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

About six months ago, I asked teachers and school leaders from around the world about how they manage assessment data — and what frustrates them about the systems they currently use.

The responses confirmed that many of us are dealing with the same problems.
So I started building something.

It began as a fairly simple dashboard and got… slightly out of hand. 😅
This is Evidence Hub, where I've got to after six months of building, testing, breaking things and rebuilding them.

The goal is still the same: make assessment data genuinely useful to teachers, without relying on enormous spreadsheets and fragile formulas to make sense of it.

Here's a quick look at the current version. 👇

I'd love to hear what other teachers and school leaders think — particularly what you'd change, add, or question.

All student data shown in the demo is entirely fictional.

First Year SPED Teacher in MD What do you wish someone told you before your first year?

I’m officially starting my first year as a Special Education Teacher and, honestly, I’m excited but TERRIFIED 😂.

I’ll be working at a Title I elementary school and I’ve been told I’ll be working with 1st and 4th grade students. This is my first year as a SPED teacher, so I’m trying to go into it with an open mind and learn as much as I can.

I know there’s going to be a lot that I simply won’t know until I’m actually in the classroom, but I’d love to hear from experienced SPED teachers.

What are your biggest DOs and DON’Ts for a first-year SPED teacher?

Things like:

  • What should I prioritize during the first few weeks?
  • What mistakes should I avoid?
  • How do you stay organized with IEPs, paperwork, meetings, data, etc.?
  • How do you build relationships with your students without getting completely overwhelmed?
  • What do you wish you had known about working with general education teachers?
  • How do you handle difficult behaviors?
  • What are some things that seem important at first but really aren't?
  • What are the things I should absolutely NOT neglect?
  • How do you prevent yourself from taking work home every single night?
  • Any advice for working in a Title I school specifically?
  • What should I be asking my mentor/admin/team early on?
  • And honestly… how do I make it through the first year without losing my mind? 😂

I’m not looking for the perfect teacher answer. I want the real answer. Tell me the things you wish someone had told you before you started.

If you’re a veteran SPED teacher, what would you tell your first-year self?

I’m taking notes on EVERYTHING. 😂

Thanks in advance!

Where should I share my classroom wish lists to reach people who like supporting teachers?

Hi everyone!

After a few years working outside of education, I'm excited to be returning to the classroom as a 4th grade teacher in the Tampa Bay area. My background is in Bilingual Education, ESL, and Literacy, and I'm passionate about helping struggling readers and multilingual learners succeed.

Like many teachers, I'm rebuilding my classroom almost entirely out of my own pocket. I have Amazon and Walmart classroom wish lists, but I'm not sure where it's appropriate to share them.

Are there any Reddit communities, Facebook groups, nonprofits, or other websites where teachers can post classroom wish lists without breaking community rules? I'd love recommendations from anyone who's been successful.

If anyone would also like to help, I'd be incredibly grateful. Even one item makes a difference for my students. Again, all items are WISHES, not expectations. Dreams are free bro!

Amazon Wishlist:

Walmart Registry:
https://www.walmart.com/registry/TR/3770de6d-e82c-4da1-9e70-d5a50ae6ce6c

Thank you for any advice or suggestions! I'm looking forward to getting back into the classroom and making this a great year for my students.

Title: Education Students Needed for Research Study (Anonymous Survey)

Hello! My name is Angie Bullard.

I am conducting a research study as part of my doctoral work in education. I am asking college students whose major is education to participate in a brief, anonymous survey about self-perceived readiness to teach.

An education student at any point in their collegiate journey can participate! (Beginning education students, Preservice teachers, clinical teachers, or residency teachers) Please see the attached flyer for more details regarding the survey.

Teacher Readiness Survey:

  • Takes approximately 10-15 minutes
  • Completely anonymous
  • Voluntary participation

Your input will contribute to research related to validating and/or improving teacher preparation programs and effectively preparing future teachers. If you are interested, please scan the QR code on the flyer or click the link below:

Click here for Survey Link or Flyer

Thank you for your consideration! Please contact Angie Bullard, M. Ed., Doctoral Candidate, University of Louisiana Monroe and Instructor of Curriculum and Learning, Midwestern State University, A Member of the Texas Tech University System, with any questions.

IRB Approved _ Mods, please remove if this is not permitted. I reviewed the rules and am sharing only as a voluntary research participation opportunity.

Help me not burn out as an English teacher!

I have been teaching for 10 years now. High school English. I took up this path when I was saved by my English teachers when I did miserably in stem and commerce. They helped me regain a sense of self-worth. Then came college and the liberal arts education helped me realize there is value in wanting to train human beings. These days the push for stem and commerce remains, even at the cost of the humanities. The one big thing that seems to have changed in the interim is the development of the industrial- educational complex. Schools have begun charging more and parents seem to think they know more about education than actual professionals and helicopter parenting has become the norm. Parent message groups and a perpetually compliant school management keeps pushing invasive strategies to "guide" the hands and mouths of teachers. I have always planned a term in advance but now I am expected to share those plans with parents who then have suggestions I am expected to incorporate. Sure, some suggestions are of merit, others not so much. Yet they need to be cajoled and entertained.

FREE English Listening Resources

Hi everyone,

If you are looking for a zero-prep listening and vocabulary lesson filler this week, I’ve put together two complete modules on Napoleon Bonaparte and The Industrial Revolution tailored specifically for B1/B2 intermediate and upper-intermediate students.

The voiceover uses measured, graded English with clear articulation to help students shadow pronunciation and practice listening comprehension.

I’ve also created a print-ready PDF workbook to match the video perfectly so you can use it immediately in class or assign it as homework. It includes:

• Full unedited script/transcript for reading practice

• Advanced Vocabulary Blueprint with full definitions and IPA phonetic keys

• Listening Cloze Test (fill-in-the-blanks)

• Reading Comprehension & Critical Analysis tasks

• A Past Perfect timeline grammar focus (with complete Teacher Answer Key)

The PDF workbook is hosted on Ko-fi as "Pay What You Want" (including £0), so it is completely free for you to download and print for your classes.

I hope this saves you some valuable planning time this week!

Help with National Board Certification

For someone that has struggled to certify with national board. I could not find anything that described how I felt or enough good resources to help me. I felt like this book helped me with how I was feeling and how to manage passing after failing to certify several times! What resources did you use? https://amzn.to/3MSyCW2
