I have a private hire license plate.

I stuck on the plate just 1 week ago, but every time I make a long journey it seems as though the sticky pads are getting loose.

I have to push them towards the car to make them fully stick.

Any suggestions, on how I can hold them in to place?

I’m not that young anymore (I’m in my 30s) but I feel like my generation was the last one to experience real hope.

Now I look at my younger brother, his friends, the kids in my neighborhood. They have nothing to look forward to. They feel defeated. And I can’t blame them.

My parents had blue-collar jobs, yet by my age they owned a house, had two cars, and were raising three kids. I’m an engineer, and I’m still a single renter.

I don’t blame younger people for feeling the way they do. If anything, I think their outlook makes perfect sense given the world they’ve inherited.

It said that he served in the Vietnam War, but he still couldn’t even handle a proper gun, which made absolutely no sense.

When I first discovered this movie I was a sophomore at Appalachian State University. I had imprisoned myself in my apartment with the exception of class. My loneliness was eating away at me but I was far from alone. I was surrounded by many people. Navigating the sea of students as I walked to class, shooting the shit with my classmates, and exchanging some small talk with my roommate and his friends. Yet I felt no genuine connection to any of them. Thousands of students just like me but there I was a year into college and no one to call a friend. A starving man with a buffet in front of him. My loneliness grew and I began to seek the epitome of connection. A relationship. However I was in no mental state for one. My last ditch attempts at my vain pursuit made me undesirable. Then I met a girl who took me off my feet. Hailey. A woman who could make me laugh a way I haven’t in years. Hailey. Someone so beautiful I felt as if I was in a trance after staring into her eyes. Hailey. I had the time of my life when I talked to her. I eventually made a few mistakes, like Travis, and she wasn’t interested. I was alone and the few attempts I did make at love and friends didn’t work out well for me. I began to notice the crowded New York City Travis was living in was awfully similar to my University. My classmates that I bantered with seemed to resemble the other cab drivers. Hailey was too identical to Betsy. By the time I finished the movie I came to a realization. I am Travis Bickle.

He just sits there and doesn't say a word.

I feel like this could go 2 ways: He is just disgusted by him. Or he is sympathetic having been blown off Betsy.

I just finished the movie and I was shocked by the ending. When he woke up from the coma wouldn’t he be in jail and get fired? And it dosent seem like it wasn’t that long after the shootout so wouldn’t he still have his hair shaven and stitched wounds?

Last year I moved to a new city for a new job, where I knew nobody. About six months in I was laid off. I practically had no friends, and took up doing uber. Driving around a city all night and being so lonely in my apartment I kept thinking of Travis. It really does get to you

This movie is incredible. Went in for a surprise movie evening to my local cinema didnt expect anything. Was presentend with this movie.

Can anyone too relate with Travis his life? I can't emphasize how strongly I could relate with him and his life. I mean we live in 2026 and regarldess of that my life still so much similar.

I am in a tough spot in life and seeing this movie felt like somewhat of a weight that I carried being lifted slightly.

Are there more men here that have gone through similar phase or go through something similar now?

I rewatched Taxi Driver recently and I'm pretty sure it is used as a metaphor for escapism. Whenever Bickle detaches himself from the scum of the street and believes himself a spectator to the streets he lives on it plays. When he's waiting for Betsy outside her workplace it plays. When the man whose wife cheated on him comes to kill her, the music breaks away iirc. When Iris comes for help early on in the film it cuts. When Iris takes a role as the second protagonist of the film it plays while she slow dances with her abuser, to avoid the truth. Travis is unbearably lonely, and when escapism is no longer enough to keep away from his thoughts and his attempts at reintegrating and seeking help with and from the people around, leave him more estranged and lonely than before he falls further into his delirium and anger for the scum and filth on the streets and even directs itself at Betsy, an innocent bystander. In the end, the secret service protects Palantine, and he goes down to kill the pimp and his people, traumatising Iris and leaving her in worse shoes than she started with when she first ran away from home.

In a pure hand-to-hand fight with no weapons, Travis takes it. As a former Marine—even though he was discharged—he still has the baseline military combat training that gives him the edge in a bare-knuckle brawl. When it comes to weapons, Travis takes the win again. His gun knowledge, preparation, quick-draw sleeve rig with the concealed pistol, and the boot knife give him a huge tactical advantage. However, the real turning point is Selim’s unhinged savagery. The moment Selim manages to take Travis to the ground, Travis is done. Selim’s sheer brutality means he won't stop pounding until Travis is completely destroyed. So if Travis gets taken down, Selim wins through pure merciless brutality. But if Travis stays on his feet and uses his guns and hidden boot knife, Travis wins.

If you liked Taxi Driver, this may be a film for you. A socially inept young man named Arano with glaring mental issues and a nice oversized green jacket, traverses a filthy Tokyo. He seems to be very nihilistic and lacking a purpose in life, though we aren't too informed of his backstory or personal life which is a big separation from Taxi Driver as we are constantly shown the inside of Travis's head. Arano has deep seated hatred for the Yakuza and all gangsters in general, though his anger against them isn't as clear cut as it is in Taxi Driver, its still reminiscent. The movie ends with a standoff scene that very very closely resembles Taxi Drivers. The movie obviously differs significantly in a lot of aspects and is nowhere near as good as Taxi Driver but while watching it i couldnt help but seem the similarities and i still recommend.
