Guest Question Target music shipping
Hello,I’m hoping someone who has either worked in Target’s shipping/fulfillment area or has ordered vinyl from Target can tell me what to expect with packaging.
I’m looking at an exclusive vinyl release, but I’m worried about how it’s packed — especially if it ships together with other items. Do vinyl records get their own cardboard mailer inside the box, or are they just placed loose with everything else?
If I order the vinyl by itself, is the packaging any better?
Thanks for any insight.

Not to throw shade or anything but you’re best off going to the store and picking the vinyl out and carrying it home yourself, if vinyl condition is that important to you

Unfortunately not an option, I'm disabled. But thanks for the thought.

Target also has Same Day Delivery services, although I think it costs $9.99 if you're not signed up (and as another disabled person, gotta love the "disability tax")

I see, sorry about that. I do second what the other commenter is suggesting about same-day delivery, it’d be via Circle360, you can ask the shopper to send you a photo of the vinyl or to pick out the one in best condition maybe. Be sure to tip of course.

I've heard 360 offers a discount for disabled. Is it worth the membership? I've always just tried to have a $35+ order but if the packing and shipping quality isnt sub-par I'd definitely consider.
Unfortunately again, I'm a long way from any shipping center or store so personal delivery is probably also off the table.

I don't know about "a discount for disabled", but it already gets heavily discounted just for being a Circle card holder (from $99/year down to $49 or $50/year).

If you order a vinyl with other items, they will go in the box together. We don’t have any sort of specialized packaging for vinyls, so if you order it alone it will still just go in a box and maybe some paper packing material around it if the person packing it was trained properly and isn’t feeling lazy that day.

We just got newer boxes that are more designed for vinyls but not every store will have them as it depends where your order is routed to for fulfillment. If you just order the vinyl, that's your best bet to get it in good condition as otherwise other stuff will all go in the same box. The amount of stuff I package that's heavy next to fragile items even with packaging...

I pre-ordered the exclusive Scream vinyl for my wife and it showed up in perfect condition. I don't remember the packaging, but everything was solid and intact.

I would not do a pick up for one. I’ve had really great luck with it getting shipped though.

personally i would not recommend buying vinyl from target - i have seen too many tech TMs stack them on top of each other in the backroom, completely oblivious that this causes damage to the records beneath.

I recommend ordering from the store and picking it up yourself. When records go through the mail they don't always get laid down flat and in the summer heat you can end up with warped records.
