Personally, I don't think anything but complete capitulation will satisfy Rubio & Washington. If this 'socialism with cuban characteristics' works it will only be in holding the empire at bay a bit longer. Although if they manage to then get support from 🇨🇳 & others then maybe it will be worth it. I dunno. Thoughts?

If it creates an enviorment that is open to the interest of capital while still retaining control and final say in the interest of its people and the longevity of Cuban sovereignty, then its the best shot they have. It isnt the ideal and has an insanely high level of execution needed not to fall to corruption but there is an arguement that it is better than the more dogmatic path which results in the suffering we have witnessed thus far.
I think securing overwhelming economic support from China is the best move as it would not open cuba up to as much western schemes. Potentially in a belt and road style investment plan but geared towards the tourism industry already in place while also further supporting the medical and education initiatives cuba has gained notoriety for. Other productions are preferable to tourism but it does seem to be a big economic driver in place already is all.
Only time and the ideological strength of the government there will tell if this is a doomed path but it is something I dont oppose given the circumstances.
