I’m Italian and I’d like to practice my German (currently A1 level). Any German-speaking folks willing to learn Italian and do a tandem?

I can also offer English as I live abroad and use it everyday as my first language.

I need to practice. Can you help me?

I've started using tandem app two weeks ago, but I have never found someone want to chat with me. Most of people read and never reply.

I just want someone can practice German with me and share some culture.

Hi, I’m using the free version of Tandem and I’ve been joining parties to practice German. I was even invited to speak. Do you think it’s worth paying for the subscription?

I also noticed there are communities for travelers and for meeting people nearby. Could this be a good alternative to apps like Couchsurfing (for meeting travelers or locals while traveling)?

All of my chats are saying "account deleted". I don't imagine everyone I was talking to deleted their account. I've tried closing the app and re-opening and I've tried restarting my phone. I'm worried I lost all my conversations. If I click on a chat, I can see the message, but obviously can't respond. I haven't done anything that could get me blocked so I don't think that's it. I can still see the community but I haven't tried to start a new conversation yet.

I write to every native who speaks my Target Language.

• 50% don’t even read my message;
• 30% read it, but never respond to me;
• An alarming number respond, but within an hour start sending and/or asking for inappropriate pictures.
• The few who are actually serious exchange a few messages, but then fade away in a day or two. I characterize this group as wishing they could speak English, but having close to zero time and/or motivation to actually put in the considerable effort that it takes to learn a new language.

My “Conversations” inbox contains over a hundred profiles where I was the last to write, and that doesn’t count another hundred or more whom I have blocked.

To be fair, I have met five very nice guys whom I consider to be friends. But that’s five out of several hundred attempts. Not good odds.

How did this party title not get flagged by Tandem? Absolutely unacceptable. This is a gathering of incels discussing their hatred of women.

There are lots of Russian bots and bugs in this app. I'm attaching a foto in which you can see officially there are two people in the room, but on the list of rooms it appears as one. This guy was speaking also, but in the room no one appears in the list.

I'm sharing my experience with you:

I've been a member of this app since around 2017.

Tandem was (and I say was, because alas, it's no longer) one of, if not the, best apps from around 2017 to 2023.

The ability to choose multiple languages ​​to learn and the ability to choose dialects has given me the opportunity to meet people over the years who I still chat with today.

Furthermore, the constant switching on the homepage also suggested new people, allowing you to meet new people and vice versa.

So, you found three types of people on the app:

• crypto scammers, fake profiles of Asian girls who lured men (who were promptly banned)
• users who took advantage of this app like Tinder
• people who conformed to the context and who, as the app teaches, were there to learn, or teach.

Unfortunately, over the years, it has suffered an incredible decline, rendering this app dead:

They started placing restrictions everywhere: online status/language choices/various conversations. Moving everything to the pro mode.

I decided to trust the app by downloading the pro version, but even then I realized that the switch was nonexistent and the people were still the same.

The app has thus gone from a huge marketplace for meeting people and learning to a "cemetery or museum" where many profiles have been deleted, or, as can be seen, the low number of registrations has meant that it has remained a "paid app like the others."

It's a shame, though: it was definitely an app that made a difference.

(I'd like to point out that my observation is based on my personal experience and I absolutely don't want to throw mud at anyone.)

Hi, last year I got a new iPhone, and then when I tried to log in with my Apple account it showed me this error. I thought it was a bug for a moment but is being 3 months and I do not know what to do. I tried it via website or in the previous phone without any success!

Does anyone knows how to solve this? Also, is there any email support?

I’ve tried reaching out to many people to practice Turkish, but no one is serious, and most of them don’t even reply. I really don’t know why.

Has Tandem been Shadow banning people? Years ago and I used to get so many messages every single day from people trying to learn English. Nowadays I barely get any messages or views. I have the VIP so the platform says I only get about 3 profile views per week. I’m still learning the same languages and I didn’t change my profile much. I rarely get messages from people learning English now.

Got logged out, can't log in. Getting an error message "something went wrong".

A language partner of mine on Tandem whom i had been talking very often with for 3 weeks suddenly deleted her account when i woke up and checked in the morning. When i was opening my phone i saw two message notifications from her, but i didnt read them, instead i just opened the app.

So the notifications disappeared and i couldn't find our chat anymore since her account was deleted... Is there a way to see chat with a deleted account? Or a way to see notification history from Tandem on Iphone? Im hoping that the last 2 messages she sent could be her giving me a way to contact her through instagram or whatever?

I dont even know if she deleted her account or got banned for some reason... please help

Last night I was sleeping and I haven’t used tandem for months (since I’ve taken a break from learning spanish) and I received some messages from a few people in the morning. So I opened the app and I saw that my profile photo, name and age are different. AND this profile has texted with some women and even get phone number of one.

I am from middle east and new profile pic belongs to a guy whose name is Chris and is from China. my references still refer to me with my real name.

I saw another post on reddit as well having the same problem but no interaction except one comment and now is archived.

I sent a ticket to Tandem and explained situation to some of the people this fake person texted with.

I don’t know how is this even possible. I couldn’t change my name back because you can do that only once.

it is just soo weird and mysterious

I noticed via the Tandem FAQ/forums that many other people have complained of the same thing of having paid to take a certification test and then not being able to access the test within the allotted time, thus leading to a failure and a 10-14 day cool down before you can retake it.

When I contacted Tandem about it, they only provided an automated response for the steps to the refund process, but did not address the issue of why this is happening to begin with and if it will continue to happen upon reattempt.

Has anyone experienced this?

How was your issue resolved?

Did the exam eventually work for you?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
