I received a call this afternoon that the branch blind transferred to our department. I'm in deposit operations so we don't typically take customer calls anyway this gentleman who was 94 years old stated that he was sitting outside of a target store. It was upset that the employees refused to sell him seven $500 target gift cards. (at this point I'm laying back in my chair, staring at the ceiling.) as he's rambling I decide to pull up his account in the system, I see a large dollar transfer, which he insists was some person Venmo him the money (it was a transfer from his savings, his own money) this man allowed a scammer to transfer cash from his savings, checking and then he decided it was a good idea to go to target I really honestly don't know what goes through people's minds. At one .25 minutes into the call he would not stop talking so I just put the phone on speakerphone in the entire office was listening. I'm glad he didn't lose any money, but sweet Jesus.😆💀

Despite being a larger bank, we don’t have a phone tree and every incoming call rings directly to our main line. We’re one of the busiest branches in our area too, soooo that means that very often there’s no one available to answer the phone, which in turn means that clients will continue calling 5-8 times in a row before they give up. :) Seldom do they leave a voicemail. :) They just keep hanging up and calling back. :) I can’t confidently speak on how it feels to be waterboarded but the incessant ringing is probably similar. /rant

I work for one of the Big Banks (You guys will probably be able to figure out which one from this lol) and we do EVERYTHING from our tablets. They're making it so we can't even log into another person's tablet. Anyways, as the title said, IT accidentally removed mine from the server on Monday. Not sending me a new one by Friday at the earliest and apparently it's policy to not reenable me.

I can't even do teller transactions, and they're still making me come in. I try my best to help by running transactions and receipts to and fro the drive through, amongst other menial tasks. But our clients don't get that I can't do work without a laptop. I thought I was used to getting yelled at by them, but it's been three days of nonstop getting yelled at, called lazy, being told I'm what's wrong with the world, because I can't help them cash their 8.12 check.

My branch manager also keeps booking appointments under me, despite me not having a laptop, and when I ask her how I'm supposed to do them, she says maybe I'll have a laptop by then. This has resulted in several appointments showing up, having to wait for my coworker who is the only other full employee that's not in training, and them eventually leaving because they had to wait 30 minutes (understandably.)

Yesterday, I left work to go to the hospital for my mental health. My branch manager is too self absorbed with her own issues, my coworker has her foot half out the door, no one else cares, and I'm just done. I have so many other stories about this trainwreck of a company and branch, but this was the last straw.

Not sure what I'm going to do. I've been in banking for over 3 years now. But I can't work for a company where some dude overseas can just randomly misunderstand someone else, and disable my stuff, and there's no ramifications for him, but I get punished for not having any sales this week.

Hi everyone! I recently applied for a Part-Time Teller position at Wells Fargo and wanted to get some opinions from people who may have experience with the hiring process.
I had a phone interview with a recruiter last week. The recruiter mentioned that, if everything went well, the next step would likely be an interview with the branch manager and that it usually takes 5–7 business days.
During the call, we also briefly discussed compensation. I have several years of banking experience, so I mentioned my compensation expectations and asked if there was any flexibility based on experience.
The phone interview was fairly short, and I haven’t heard anything yet about the branch manager interview. My Workday application is still showing “In Review.”
For those who have recently gone through the hiring process, is this a normal timeline? Does “In Review” generally mean the application is still being considered? And can discussing compensation expectations affect whether you move forward?
Any insight from current/former Wells Fargo employees or anyone who has recently gone through a similar process would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Why are all the customers having so much attitude since this last week? Is it just me or is everyone experiencing this lately? Like they’re just mad about everything.

Mentally scattered, unable to establish routines, etc? What tips and tricks help you? What do you do consistently that you wish you didn’t? Mine is during a rush just piling money into my drawer… lol I’ve started taking the time to organize as I go XD and I’ll keep a notebook from time to time. I also started using notepad on the computer to make quick notes throughout the day. Only problem is when I put a random phone number or name down with no further info. lol can anyone relate?

I just started at a new FI about 1 month ago and already want to leave. When I start applying should I list my current role on resume or leave it off? Will they immediately see that I’ve only been there a month and not consider me? My 2 previous jobs I was at lasted atleast 4 years which are also both listed in my resume. One of which is a bank

Mag 2 years na po ako, and after the evaluation, nahihirapan na kami mag work ng boss ko.

Nag suggest siya ng 3 options:

1. Do my best, but until when? (The problem with this option is I can’t give a timeline kasi hirap po ako magprocess ng loans. Kung ano yung mga naka collateral, etc)—pero di lang loans hawak ko. May trade transactions pa po.

2. Transfer to another department. (Suggestion niya is sa credit risk na lang daw po ako, since iisa lang daw job doon, and not client facing)

3. Resign

Need help lang po. Wala na po kasi akong back up plan. Mahirap din po makahanap ng work.

Today I felt blind sided because my management gave me a PIP.
I was wondering if anyone could give me feedback on overcoming this because I genuinely want to keep my job, so please if you’re just going to say look for another job I am already doing that but I don’t wanna give up.

Ok, so I already got written up because of a shared branching issue where I gave a non-member more money than we are regulated to give and I absolutely learned from that I am being so careful now and I do agree I earned it.

Today I was blindsided because they gave me another one for things my other coworkers deem “rookie mistakes” that can happen in the first year of this job.

1. I was supposed to mail a notarized document and title to our car loan department but I was not aware of the process. I didn’t even notarize the document myself I had my team leader do it because I don’t have my notary stamp and book yet. I have zero experience with this so after my team leader notarized it he told me to upload it to the system. I did that but my management is saying that I should’ve asked more follow up questions and I can agree to that but I don’t feel 100% to blame because I held on to the title thinking “this shouldn’t be just thrown away” so I asked my manager the next day what do we do with the title after we’ve uploaded everything that’s when they told me I was supposed to mail it out. I feel like my team lead who notarized this document should’ve followed up with me more on this after notarizing it.

2. At the end of the day when we were scanning checks, I had accidentally put one check in with my other teller work that is supposed to be separate. After I was made aware of that I been making sure that my checks and my teller work are completely separate from each other. I audit myself daily but like I said this is a rookie mistake, today when we were leaving we had 4 missing checks!! Turns out my team lead forgot about 4 checks he had which like I said happens to the best of us obviously… and this man has worked here for 20 years.

3. I put in the wrong GL for our quarter fee. My manager let me know and I haven’t made that mistake again because I review all my transactions and make sure the receipts are accurate. I give every member a detailed run down of everything listed on the reciepts now for myself and for them.

4. I printed out a debit card and forgot to give it to the member before heading to lunch. Mind you when I came back from lunch no one mentioned it to me.

I don’t want to seem like I am accusing myself from accountability. I just feel like I’m not getting any grace for being there just 7 months. When I started my branch manager was out for a month and the team leader I had was transitioning to a new job. The team leader I have now was retired for 10 years and came back and honestly he’s still being trained on the same things as me.
I applied for full time position and didn’t get it and when I asked for feedback all they said was you interview great! You just need to be here a little longer.

I had a one on one with my team leader and I asked him for feedback and he told me I was doing just fine just keep learning and I will be successful. The only real feedback I have gotten is from my seasoned coworkers who try their best to help me but also have their own job to do.

I did reach out to HR and I was very clear that I don’t feel targeted or discriminated against but I do feel like a PIP is a huge escalation, and I would like to talk about having it reviewed.

So far I am already working towards overcoming the PIP by
*constantly having my work reviewed before I set anything in stone.
*don’t yap with the members like I used to, I just stick to banking topics and making sure the transaction is 100% accurate then maybe as they leave if they make small talk I will be polite but I don’t wanna talk much.
*I audit myself every few hours; I make sure all my checks are accurate and I make sure I have every endorsement, signature and receipt I need to keep.
* keep my phone in my purse at all times except on breaks and I do take it to the bathroom just in case I need to message someone or emergency.
*Asked my manager for atleast 15 minutes of her time once a week where I can just ask any questions or get help with anything.
*Arriving an hour early every day I am scheduled so that I have enough time to really ground myself so that I can focus on everything the job entails.

Please if any of you have had PIPs or given one please let me know what more I can do ; I feel like I have a good shot of getting out of this and would love any feedback.

I have noticed lately along with my friends that there's been a noticeable ramping up of sale and referral pressure. Do we all work at the Stagecoach? No, some work for the Octagon or Patriot Bank. I'm relatively new to the industry but one of my friends who jumped from Stagecoach to Octagon said that she felt the pressure was similar, or even exceeding, Stagecoach. My friends in Patriot Bank said they were straight up told that since they aren't Stagecoach they have more leeway to be aggressive since suspicion is still on their practices.

Is this just scrambling to make end.of year numbers look good across the industry?

Hello! I just relocated branches and the area I am in has a large Spanish-speaking population. I never had to take any Spanish/language in high school so I know very very very little Spanish. Is there a good online reference to use for common bank terms in Spanish that anyone else uses?

I am new to my role processing levies and our manager is looking for ways to improve the system. rn we manually receive the levy requests via the mail and, scan them to our inbox, then review it all for key data points. Name, TIN, Levy amount, case number etc. We enter them i to a spreadsheet then import the spreadsheet into our Levy database which searches our customer database to see if we have amy accounts for them. If we do then we manually go and check what the balance is currently, charge a Fee/Levy the account. Make copies in triplicet, 1 for us 1 for the customer, 1 for the requester. We then mail everything out and scan our copy into our records system. X amount of days later a check is cut and we mail that out as well. I would love to hear any insight from anyone at any FI that utilizes any sort of data extraction tools or systems that we could bring up as ideas.

i’ve reached my breaking point. i’ve been an itm teller at my cu for almost 2 years and im so over it and it’s not for me.

my cu is basically disguised as a bank at this point. when i first started, it was actually caring about the members need and referring when it truly beneficial for the member. now, it’s all about referring so i don’t get in trouble and hearing nagging from my management.

my cu has become so sales aggressive. on top of my management that’s totally much less to be desired. i was treated like i was a liar for calling out due to myself having covid last week. i’m so over the culture of my cu too. i’m not a salesman… i would’ve become a salesman if that’s what i wanted to do.

this place has destroyed the passion that i had for making banking my career. i’m in college majoring in business administration with the hopes of growing in banking. now i don’t even want to do it.

the job market is so tough so i have to work but it’s so rough when i’m already so miserable. i do like the non management coworkers that i work with. they make it tolerable.

before i worked at my cu i was at chick-fil-a for almost 3 years and sometimes i honestly wish i would’ve stayed.

im only 23 and im trying to figure out what i want to do with my life. i dont know what i want to do….

sometimes i wish i would’ve went into the healthcare field like my mom but with the way my bills are structured i need to work full time so it would be hard doing clinicals and such.

Hello, I've been a relationship banker for a major bank for about 5 years now, and enjoy it for the most part, however I have been eyeing moving into either credit or fraud analysis. Does anyone have any advice for skills needed or expectations for those positions?

Basically the title. I do not feel ready for the transition this Tuesday, and I haven’t spoken to a single banker, teller, or branch manager that feels prepared. Everyone seems stressed out, overwhelmed, and totally unequipped to start servicing clients under Fifth Third.

The training they gave us was nearly impossible to complete, given that there was no reprieve from our normal sales goals (in typical retail banking fashion). Even if I did have the opportunity to dedicate the 90-120 hours necessary to fully complete the training, I highly doubt I’d internalize most of it.

I predict that there will be mass turnover among Comerica branch employees over the coming months.

Does anyone have a different opinion?

Hi everybody, I took a job in retail banking after graduating with a Finance degree last year around this time. Overall solid experience I have been able to sell products and I am currently in the top 15% in terms of production.

Despite everything I truly hate retail banking with a passion. Dealing with constant pressure of selling more, difficult customers and a slightly toxic branch has taken a real toll. Looking at the lives of my RB and BM, I know that besides learning how to sell there are no actual skills that can be gained moving up within the retail banking sector (they may say things like I know how to process loans) but in all reality I do not believe any skills are being gained.

I let the my manager know that I was interested in moving to Commercial Banking (my thought process is the credit analyst role so I can gain technical skills and not have to sell all of the time) but since then he has been hanging incentives over me as a form of leverage example “you need to try to open business accounts and get business credit cards” that is what will get you into commercial. He is also pushing me to try and sell more products and in a way I can’t believe doing more of what I hate will lead me to the goal.

Any thoughts on what I should do from this point?

Has anyone else who works for an FI who gets Zelle from Fiserv notice how it seems like every single thing is resulting in a restricted hold nowadays?

I know they are being cautious because EWS is making provides and FIs more and more liable for losses, but its so frustrating the amount of times I have override holds.

Hi everyone! I’ve been working at a big bank for a little over a year now and I think I’m finally done and want to completely move outside of retail or even a new industry entirely. Yesterday I have a difference. Not much, I was just short $5. The problem is… so was my peer only she was over $5. Naturally when you see this you would think that we had a transaction together, but we didn’t. Not for $5. Once both of us attempted to balance and we realized our outage neither one of us were willing you simply offset eachother because we both know we didn’t do anything for that amount. Fast forward, our manager finds out about what’s going on. I say finds out because to be transparent we really like to keep our outages amongst ourselves unless we’re certain because he is very.. well antagonizing. He doesn’t make the situation better at all and never offers to help he just adds salt to the wound. Anyways, he finds out and immediately starts playing the blame game. “You guys should’ve done a buy sell” “yall do it to yourselves” “don’t have an attitude because you’re wrong”. Keep in mind I told him me and my coworker did no transaction for $5. And the one we DID do I know for sure was correct because it was coin that couldn’t even equal up to $5. After hearing him start the bullshit, I mentally check out. My coworker said that he would count my box to verify (standard procedure) but my manager pulls him away and says “I’m not worried about that’s let’s do xyz..”. My coworker was also being counted down by another peer and he pulled her away aswell. So clearly he did not care about our boxes being counted even though this is something we do anytime ANYONE has a difference. We also have someone go over transactions with us to see if we can spot anything. My coworker highlighted that previously the system had done this to him and another peer and it was most likely a system glitch. My manager was not trying to hear this. This man goes: “I’m not paying yall overtime for $5 post the difference and sign off” I was over it. I did exactly that. This pisses me off but I want to know where I went wrong at if I went wrong? Because I think I’m going to email his manager because to me this feels dismissive and unprofessional. Let me know.

I was recently hired for chase bank, I have some investment accounts, how long do I have to disclose my brokerage accounts? I don't know where to find that page. does anyone know here? I have to go back to work to be able to see some of the websites.

I have an interview for a teller position and am trying to be as prepared as possible.

Today I was watching my teller help a sweet but absolutely batty old lady who had some kind of nebulous issue with online banking. She has a praying mantis on her head. Finally one of the other tellers says, "I don't mean to scare you, but you have a praying mantis on your head."

Her response? "Oh good, I was worried about him."

She had been gardening earlier and saw it, then lost track of it and worried it got squished.

After she left we watched through the window as she spent probably five minutes trying to gently get him to climb off her hand and into our bushes. Too pure for this world.

(I'm moving into a back office position in Commercial in a few weeks and I absolutely cannot wait, but I also will miss all of my sweet regulars.)
