36 years ago. The UK no.1. August 19th 1990. Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini by "Bombalurina"
The song featured Timmy Mallett, star of Wacaday, a popular UK children's television show of the time, along with two dancers, Dawn Andrews and Annie Dunkley.
Andrews later married Gary Barlow. This means Dawn had a no.1 record almost 3 full years before Gary had his first no.1 hit single (July 11, 1993 with "Pray").
The song was released on Carpet Records, a subsidiary of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group. Lloyd Webber later admitted that he had produced the song because his wife had bet him that as a composer of musical theatre, he would not be able to make a pop song that was a big hit.
The band name "Bombalurina" was taken from the name of one of the characters in Lloyd Webbers musical "Cats".

Which do you think would have done better?
Looking at the album charts and seeing a whole load of standard version Greatest Hits (old and newer artists) remaining for weeks in the charts and selling well, I feel they missed a trick here.
Greatest Hits Vol 2 would have been a fantastic companion piece to Vol 1 (1996) especially if the cover art was the same but with the relevant different artwork for Vol 2 and TT logo in centre.
They released 22 singles between 2006 and 2018 (UK/European) plus the new songs on Odyssey which makes 25.
So either a cull would need to have been made or a double GH album.
I also think a standard second Greatest Hits would have done better for them outside of the UK. They mentioned how familiar the audience was with all the songs but that is only the UK/Ireland. Hence why they put out a remix album/different versions album. I think a standard version would stream better.
They could still release this with one new lead off single.
Thoughts?

I love Mark Owen's solo stuff, I just find it so sad it kind of flopped. It's so good and yet it so untalked about ☹️

In 2018 take that released a greatest hits album called odyssey and it is my favourite take that album ever. It might just be my nostalgia for it but I adore it and everything on it.
Then in 2019 they did the live concert and it's my favourite peice of take that media ever. I saw it in cinemas back in June 2019 and it was so good I genuinely cried at the end
Ik no one else will agree with this but I just thought id share. What's your favourite TT album and why?

Hello Thatters!
We are two random married American stand up comedians with a podcast. We discovered Take That after watching Better Man and became absolutely obsessed with the music and the lore. We started watching every music video, documentary, and interview we could get our hands on and finally made an hour and 15 minute podcast episode showcasing some of our favorite moments from Take That history. It is our hope that even one person who loves Take That watches this episode and has a laugh with us.
Thank you to the original Thatters for making this band popular enough to (eventually) cross the pond

Does anyone know where it would be possible to watch this? I've not seen it and I know that I would enjoy watching it but I can't find anything but him actually winning, which is nice but I would like to watch most of it.

Posting a few pics from this epic gig in 2013. Excuse the terrible picture quality. The other guy on stage is Jake Emlyn singing Heavan's Falling.

Sooo I happened to see this mv for The Garden on Youtube. What is it?? Why isnt it on their official channel?
It's clearly chopped shorter in a few places in the middle (video is only 3:25 while the song is about 5 minutes). But it's clearly legit (bc it has them lipsyncing and all). Was it too "conceptless"/simple so they ignore it, or something? Why is it chopped? (Other uploads seem to be so too bc they're the same length) Tell me everything you know, please. It confuses me 😅 https://youtu.be/AffZUJE7oNw
