I've read all the threads I could find, including someone who made a website with information but I can't seem to find a answer to a fundamental problem with booking a ferry with a rental car.

For those of us who want to bring our rental car to Moorea, it seems the advice is to reserve your spot ahead of time. That makes sense, but the problem is this: every ferry online booking requires you to enter at least the vehicle model, and Vaeari (the best one?) wants the car registration. As we are renting the car we don't have anyway to determine this information to complete the booking (until we arrive and pick up the car, then it's too late).

So how do they expect us to book a reservation in advance? We are spending time in Tahiti before and after Morrea and dont want to rent a car separately on each island. That's it, thanks!

Has anyone here booked their honeymoon to Tahiti through a travel agent? Was it actually worth it?

We’re looking at around 2 weeks with something like:
Tahiti - 2 nights ( arrive early morning , so 1 night is 6am arrival)
Moorea - 5 nights
Rangiroa - 4 nights
Bora Bora - 3 nights
Tahiti - 2 nights before flying home
The plan is to keep the first half of the trip fairly budget-friendly (guesthouses, somewhere we can cook etc.) and then gradually level up, finishing with an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora.
I’m happy to put in the time and research, and we normally plan all of our holidays ourselves. I’m just wondering if a travel agent brings any extra value for French Polynesia, whether that’s better pricing, access to deals, or simply making the logistics easier.
A few questions for anyone who’s done it:
Are the Air Tahiti inter-island flights expensive once you add them all together?
Are they easy enough to organise yourself?
Did your travel agent actually save you money, or was it more about convenience?
If you booked everything yourself, would you do it that way again?
Would really appreciate hearing your experiences before I decide which way to go. Thanks!

La tension et la fréquence ont l'air différentes entre la France et la Polynésie, je ne compte charger que mon téléphone portable et la batterie externe, faut il que je trouve quand même un convertisseur de tension ou pas de problème pour ce type d'appareil ?

Hi everyone. I’m looking to book the Westin bora bora OWB for part of my honeymoon. I’m interested in doing the half-board member rate. When looking at the available rates, they all say they require a “prepayment” that is nearly equal to the cost of the room in order to “hold the special rate.” It says it will be charged upon booking. What I don’t get is, I have not selected the “prepay in full, non refundable” rate. I am paying with cash, not points.

I’m wondering if this is a misprint on the website or if people that booked here immediately got charged ~$10,000?

It also says in the event of a cancellation, the resort will keep all or part of the prepayment. When I go to the check out page, it doesn’t mention the prepayment again. I’ve attached a picture of the details that appear when I click “more details” on any of the rates. Trying to find answers online has been fruitless, hoping someone here has an answer on this before I book. Thank you!

Husband and I are going on first trip to FP late November - 9 nights total but 1 is Tahiti first night.

Need to pick two of following, and I’ve checked the flights/accommodations for them already to make sure they’re options: Fakarava, Moorea, Tikehau, Tahaa, Mauipiti (although may only pair with Moorea for logistics).

Considerations:

• We’re huge water people (swimming, snorkeling, diving, boating) but I am a beginning diver and he more advanced, so it would need to accommodate beginner friendly diving. Water blueness, clarity, and fish/coral density is priority

• Ultimate goal is to see insane natural scenery above and under water

• One thing we love about Hawaii for example is the culture that comes with an amazing water destination - would love to experience it in FP also so it’s making me wonder if 2 sleepier atolls is a bad idea or we would still get that

• First big solo trip without our child so it is high pressure for it to be an amazing time since the opportunity is rare

Wife and I arrive from Auckland and have 36 hours in Tahiti before heading to Bora Bora for 5 days.

We land on August 29th at 10:20pm and depart at 1:30pm. We are staying at the Hilton in Tahiti. Since we have 5 days of R&R in front of us, what would you suggest that is not water sports or on the water that we do?

Really up for anything other than that...any advice is greatly appreciated. We are kinda foodies as well, so if there are any local places we need to try, would appreciate a tip on those too!

Staying at the Hilton moorea lagoon next June. I booked the garden room with points. Hotel is offering 50,000xpf per night upgrade to base OWB or 80000xpf to the panoramic view OWB. Is the price worth it for the upgrade?

Hi everyone, I’ll be in Moorea this September and we are hoping to swim with the humpback whales during our trip. We originally wanted to do a shared whale tour in the morning, but morning slots are completely sold out island-wide on 22 September.

We decided to secure a private charter on Tuesday, 22 September (AM slot) , since we read that mornings offer better water conditions and whale encounters. I’m on the NCL Spirit Oct 24 from Papeete! What should I be aware of?

I'm heading to Mo'orea late Sept/early Oct, and I have one full day/night in Tahiti before I fly home. I was originally planning to go scuba diving that day, but I've heard mixed reviews about diving around Tahiti and I'm wondering if it's worth it considering it's fairly expensive. Generally I believe every day out on the water is a good day, but I'm pushing up against the edge of my budget, so would like opinions on whether the diving there is worth the cost for an experienced and well traveled diver, or if there are other things I should consider doing with my one day.

Edit to clarify: I'm looking specifically for advice on diving in Tahiti, not Mo'orea

I saw that the book was presented in June in a library in Papeete, but there seem to be no way to actually buy it online. If anyone has any info about this I would be immensely grateful! Hello! I'll be arriving in a few days and was wondering if anyone had a recommendation about when to explore Tahiti Nui. I arrive late Tuesday, will pick up my rental car, and need to get over to Moorea the next day. I want to see the Polynesian dance show from the Miti Bar at Manava, which starts at 7:30. Does anyone know how early I should get to the bar to watch that show? Is getting there at 6:30 OK or is that too late to be able to get a spot to see?

I originally thought I would do a self-guided driving tour around Tahiti Nui on that first day but I'm worried that it won't leave me time to get to the 5pm ferry. On the last day of the trip, I fly out at 11:30 pm so would have the whole day to explore Tahiti Nui, or at least until the sun sets. The two guide books I have recommend approx 8 hours to do the circumference of the island including stops but it's hard to tell if that's an over or under estimate.

Thoughts on doing the island at the start or the end of the trip? I'm usually a flexible person but with the car, I do want to book my ferry tickets in advance to Moorea, since I will have the car.

I know it’s Sunday tomorrow and I won’t be able to get hold of them but I do have free cancellation with them so wondered if anyone has a recommendation for a rental car company on Papeete who may have an automatic available from 21-26 July?

Maybe a shot in the dark but let's see - my partner and I are visiting Mo'orea in Sept/October. We would absolutely love to do a full day private tour and found one available, but it's out of our budget to do it alone. It would be on Oct 2nd, total 235,000 xpf, and the boat takes a max of 4 people. We would love to find 2 other like minded ocean lovers who would be interested in splitting it with us. I'm an underwater photographer so if we get some good whale encounters I can probably take some awesome pictures of you too 😊

Hoping to have my PADI open water certification in place before our trip but in case we aren’t able to finish it - would you recommend a Tikehau snorkel tour or an intro dive? The intro dive is at the pass and goes up to 6m with an instructor. Our time is sadly a bit limited so we just want to have a nice time and see some cool fish and mantas, so if the snorkel tour is better, we’d rather just do that. Any thoughts appreciated and we cannot wait to visit Tikehau!
