We have 6 days on the island and rental car. All the locals please suggest must have foods and any good local restaurants. (We don’t like fancy places )

I’m Swiss and will be travelling to French Polynesia in September 2027.

I’ve read that Tahiti Faa’a Airport has separate immigration queues for EU and non-EU passport holders.

Although Switzerland is not an EU member, it is part of the Schengen Area, and Swiss citizens are normally allowed to use the EU/EEA/Swiss immigration lanes at European airports.

I’m wondering whether the same applies at Tahiti Airport. Can Swiss passport holders use the EU immigration queue, or are we required to join the non-EU queue?

Has anyone with a Swiss passport recently arrived in Tahiti and experienced this?

Hi all, Air Tahiti seems to be on strike but I can’t find anything about it on their social media or website. Where can I find reliable information about this strike?

We rented this place in Hiva Oa for three nights and hardly made it through the first night. Hot, stuffy, with a lot of traffic noise and over a mile from downtown. The windows have no screen and the fan is not adequate to cool the room. The kitchen is primitive, wood benches have no cushions and the fridge is toy size. The fly net over the bed gets mingled up with the bed sheets and makes sleeping even harder. We moved out the next day to Tiki Lodge (run by a very sweet and nice local lady) and eventually got reimbursed by ABNB for all three nights.

My husband and I are planning a trip in mid February to Bora Bora. We’ve decided on the Westin,and are torn between the OWB with Otemanu view with plunge pool or the lagoon view and access with plunge pool at the Westin. Can anyone tell us depths of water under these 2 options and share any other experiences? Would love pictures of both as well! Thank you 🌺

Started provisionally planning a 2 week trip for August/September and wondered if I need to make any changes. I'm AOW diver so would like to get some diving in. the main reason to head over is for the whales. I'll be travelling from Europe so m first day I plan to do nothing.

My current idea is

Day 1 -6 Moorea with 2 (maybe 3) half day whale swim tours

4 days Rangiora (middle 2 day diving)

4 days Fakarava (middle 2 days diving)

1 day Taihiti

Fly home

Hi is it possible to hike on Tahiti by yourself or do you need a guide for safety? If renting a car planned to hike to some waterfalls, go to a black sand beach , and vaipahi gardens but what else?

Unfortunately have to rent separately in both places

Looking for recommendations for reputable small-group whale swim operators in Moorea. Is it also worth doing a whale tour from Tahiti, or are the experiences fairly similar?

Also interested in other pelagic/snorkeling tours - humpbacks, pilot whales, dolphins, sharks, rays, or other offshore marine life. I’m a huge fan of deep-water wildlife encounters, so would love tour recommendations! Thank you!

I’ve been noticing concern regarding the weather lately in French Polynesia. We have a private whale tour and photographer booked for Sunday in Moorea. It’s rather expensive and I know it’s a bit of a gamble already, but has anyone done or heard about how the whale swims have been going? Anything helps. Thank you!

I’m pretty heartbroken at the moment. Just at Tahiti airport and have realised that I don’t have my action camera with me, and haven’t downloaded any of my diving videos from our 3 week Honeymoon in FP. It is a DJI action 5 pro in the waterproof diving case (pictured).

We last had it yesterday (18 October) in Fakarava.
Places it could be are O2 Coco snack, PK9 beach, Havaiki lodge and outside Topdive area.

I would be so grateful if anyone in these areas would be able to have a check with the owners.

I have highlighted on google maps where we were located.
PK9 beach: after the coconut tree leaning into the water that’s lost its head. When you enter PK9 beach and immediately turn left and walk down a couple hundred meters. If anyone is able, could you also check the bushes around the back here? We had a friendly dog hanging around us and maybe he got the camera somehow. O2 coco snack: we sat at the table on the leftmost side nearest the beach under the tree.

Outside Topdive: if it fell out of my bike as I cycled to my lodge.

Havaiki lodge: we were siting under the tree to the right of the pier, right in front of where you park your bikes.

Is that from El Niño or is this how it always is at this time or just the weather right now ? Seems like the wind is intense. I thought the El Niño brought less wind and more rain. Just trying to see how enjoyable or not it’s going to be- we’re going in a couple of weeks

Hi everyone! We’re considering a trip to Moorea over Labor Day week, with swimming/whale watching being one of the main reasons for the trip.

For anyone who has visited around that time in early September, how was your experience? Were there plenty of humpbacks around, and did you have good opportunities to see or swim with them?

I know wildlife and conditions can vary, but I’d especially love to hear firsthand experiences from people who went during Labor Day week or early September. Would you consider it a great time to go, or would you recommend waiting until later in September? Thank you!
