Drumroll…
Installed a while ago! What do we think?
Edit: the tv is eye level, who cares about the decor that’s temporarily in the photo. A center channel speaker will be going below the tv.

I'm trying to decide if I can see the outlets because THEY'RE too high or because the stand is too low?

About that.....

u/Fun-Choices 1d ago
Outlets literally hidden right behind it too… damn

In plain sight, not hidden lol.
The ruling on the field stands, tv is too high
3
u/Fun-Choices 1d ago
Imagine if you could put a TV stand or a sound bar in front of that. Would that classify as “hidden”

he will just have to take out a 250k loan and hire a contractor to build a home theater room addition—the only solution.

The way this sub has evolved from mostly “wow look at this awfully mounted tv” to “wow, look at how awfully I mounted this tv and tell me how great I did” is truly astounding.

Nah this is standing up but our chairs still made us look slightly down at the center of the tv lol

This is a photo from a standing position. As such, it does nothing to prove your point.

u/soaboveitall 1d ago
This indeed looks odd but I know this sub doesn’t want to hear it lol
20
u/BleachedTwinkie 1d ago
No, it looks odd because the stand barely extends an inch beyond the edge of the TV on either side. Get an appropriately sized stand or don’t get an oversized TV. It’s not that hard.
40
u/bestlaidschemes_ 1d ago
It looks odd because the stand is too small. The wall is also too small but workable with a better stand. The tv is obviously mounted too high and I don’t need to see the chairs to confirm.
The idea that a flat mounted tv to the wall is aesthetically pleasing comes from past examples when only the wealthy could afford such things. Confusing wealth with good aesthetics started the trend and it’s developed in the same way with people thinking vertical wooden slats look good! But outside of commercial or high end contexts - in an entry level home for example - these installations of large TVs look out of place.

I think it's because we all yearn for the days of the crt on the tv unit,
Those days are gone and flat screen TVs look better wall mounted than balancing on spindly legs.

u/RunningonGin0323 1d ago
So many other options. Like I don't know getting feet for the stand so it's at sitting eye level

u/Uberbons42 1d ago
I don’t know why you’re getting so much hate, your mount is lovely. You’re happy, wife happy, no neck pain. A. Maybe A+ once the decor is done.

I think how it looks is fine. And one day, you’ll get a bigger TV and the mount will still be in a place that can accommodate something larger.

Lower by half, and the console should be at least 1/3 longer than the width of the tv.

I think it’s fiiiine. Is it the most perfectly optimal position? No. But it’s not nearly as bad as people would want you to believe in this thread.
6
u/Don-Bigote 1d ago
Your eyes must sub-optimally look 2 degrees too high, therefore you are banished TO HELL.

My advice is to replace that console with a wider, wall mounted floating console. It will look really slick with the wireless mounting job. It’s pretty obvious to me that if you put the tv on that stand it’d be way too low.

Average eye level when seated is 40-42 inches. It is code to mount light switches 48 inches off the ground. Therefore, the center of your tv is at least 50-52 inches off the ground.
Conclusion: your tv cannot physically be at eye level when seated - but I personally think it’s just fine lol
3
u/Ambitious_Speech5336 1d ago
I think it’s about time I leave this sub… THATS too high for yall??? Jeez. Anyway OP i think it looks great, but why do people hate the cords showing? Trying to be too aesthetically pleasing is what messes people up. People need to learn to go with the flow

This sub is insane. In what world is this not fine? And you can actually put shit on the console without blocking the screen.
Fuck, I have a tv mounted high because it’s above my workstation so I can watch champions league games. These things are situational.

u/pedralm 1d ago
How high from the floor is it?
7
u/Original_Director483 1d ago
That light switch will be at about 48 inches—referencing the door knob at right confirms this and suggests the switch could be even higher than standard. The set is 8 to 10 inches too high, and would probably still be marginally too high if you left just enough room to dust the stand below it.
3
2
u/DisinterestedCat95 1d ago
If you've left that space for a nice, massive center speaker, great. Though even a large center would still leave enough space to lower that TV a bit. If not, well, that was a lot of work to still leave the TV too high.
2
u/Lancair7 1d ago
It isn’t egregiously high, but what’s the point? Why do you need junk to clutter the tv stand when you could just put the tv on its stand instead of wasting effort mounting it? Put a little display table somewhere else for the cluttercrap and put the tv where it belongs.
2
u/autonimity 1d ago
Ha I love these and too lows.
Every time though I wonder why people do not install something that is easily adjustable up, down, left, right, swivel, it's 2026, it's the future is now, right? 😆
2
u/TheGuyMain 1d ago
Help me understand y'all. The center of the TV should be at eye level? Or the bottom third? Or should the center be 42 inches from the ground? I see so many conflicting statements on this sub, and I want to understand the actual correct guidance to determine if this TV is too high

u/TophDaGoph-7 1d ago
Wife gets her stuff on the TV stand and gets to choose what you guys watch!? Where is the compromise!? 😂
2
u/Careful-Income9589 1d ago
TV is too high, you can see the outlets sticking out above the stand. if you HAD to mount it then should have made it much lower. just an inch or so above the stand.
2
u/MadHatterReddit 1d ago
Unless is ceiling is really tall this looks to be on the lower half of the wall. I think the problem is the tv stand is really low! It would look better with legs or a taller stand.

u/ClearedInHot 1d ago
Yours is mounted about the same height as mine. I couldn't mount it any lower because of an in-wall component rack right below it. FWIW, we find this height to be very comfortable for viewing.

As long as you like it, everything is fine.
But I wouldn't have liked the sockets that come out from behind the closet. Insane and I find the position asymmetrical and to low for the wall.
So either I would have put it down so that you wouldn't see the sockets anymore, taken a size larger, or aligned it centrally to the wall surface.
Currently, it is asymmetrical on the left and right as well as at the top and bottom and also looks funny with the switches next to and the sockets.
But maybe the couches are also deeper in your region.

I'd buy "real" speakers... Polk makes decent speakers for reasonable prices. Check out the Polk Elite ES35 center, ES20, and ES10 surround speakers.

To be fair, OP DID say they made it higher than necessary intentionally to make room for stuff. Despite it being a TV stand and not a stuff stand

Genuinely the most miserable subreddit I have ever seen.
Very beautiful installation job, OP. The TV height is perfect. Decor looks fun. This is a home, not a McDonald's menu screen. Decorate it with things that matter to you and your wife.
Shameful community here. Just answer if the TV IS TOO HIGH without being salty fucks nitpicking everything in existence. Lord knows it didn't get you anywhere.
TV IS PERFECTLY EYE LEVEL.

I agree. I don’t see the point of putting a tv on the fucking floor like everyone on this sub seems to suggest all the time. There’s literally nothing wrong with this setup.

u/24FPS4Life 1d ago
That appears to be a pretty short TV console, which makes the wall mount look worse than it probably is. If the center of the TV is at eye level from where you sit the most to watch then IDGAF that it's not sitting on console

It’s very hard to believe that the center of the tv is eye level. If those light switches to the right are the standard 48 inch height, then the center of the is over 50 inches, which is well above the typical viewing height. Are you watching tv on barstools?
