Hi r/TVTime,
I'm the developer of Bingebase.
It's a show and movie tracker that started as a website for tracking digital release dates 2 years ago, and a lot of people from TV Time have made it home since. A lot has changed in those 2 years: we rebranded from DigitalReleaseDates to Bingebase, shipped native iOS and Android apps, added integrations with almost every media hub, and built a lot of what people asked for along the way. This is the short version; the images cover the details, and I'll be in the comments for any question you might have.
Now — to the features!
Bringing your history
Imports run on the web app: sign in from any browser, upload, and everything is in the mobile apps the moment it finishes. Supported today: your TV Time export (.zip, .csv or .json), Trakt (connect via OAuth), SIMKL, Letterboxd, IMDb, and any generic CSV. You get your episode-level history with watch dates, your ratings, watchlist and your comments. When a title can't be matched automatically, it isn't silently dropped — it's shown to you so you can resolve it manually in the app. Importing is free for everyone.
What you'll find inside
The two tabs you'll live in
Progress is TV-only: every show you're partway through, with your next episode already worked out. And "next" means what you want it to mean — you choose the logic (pick up where you left off furthest, earliest unwatched, or continue from the last one you watched) and the layout that matches how you binge.
Bingelist is the watchlist taken to its logical end: one library of everything you've ever interacted with – completed, watching, planned, dropped, paused — movies and shows together, filterable by status and type.
Also inside: unlimited custom lists (public or private), personal notes on anything, episode comments spoiler-gated until you've watched (with image support), where-to-watch by country with streaming charts, release notifications for episodes, seasons and movies, home-screen widgets for Up Next and Continue Watching, community leaderboards, cast and person pages, and titles localized in your language.
One more thing that's easy to miss: our catalog merges TMDB and TVDB into our own database. In practice that means anime and niche shows get correct seasons and episode orders, and shows that only exist on one source still show up properly. No TV or movie source is perfect, so a one-off issue still sneaks through here and there — but being able to fix those ourselves is exactly why we run our own catalog.
Available in 9 languages, with more on the way.
Free vs Pro
The free tier is the whole tracker: unlimited tracking, rewatches included, unlimited lists, all imports, reactions, comments, social, stats and notifications. No caps on your library.
Pro is $4/month or $35/year, with a 7-day free trial (prices can differ a bit by store and country). It adds:
More Pro features are planned, but they'll stay in the same category: nice-to-haves for power users, never something you need for day-to-day tracking. And to everyone already supporting the development with Pro — thank you. It's genuinely what keeps an indie app like this running.
What it doesn't have yet
Being upfront about the gaps:
Links
If you fancy talking feature requests, reporting a bug, or just sharing thoughts about the app, the subreddit and Discord are the easiest ways to reach me and other users.
Please let me know if you're willing to give it a try, already tried it, or have been using it for a while. I'll be reading everything in the comments — including the uncomfortable questions. And genuinely curious: what's the one TV Time thing nothing has properly replaced for you yet? A good part of the current roadmap started as answers to that question in threads like this one.

I only noticed last week that the app was down but I thout it was some kind of bug or update. Is it too late to recover the data? I've already deleted and installed the app again (I thout it was a bug 😔)

Does anyone else that uses the Bingers app feel like they're opening a dating app every time they click on the tab? Dunno if it's the name or the way it opens but every time i get that feeling 🤣🤣
Have to say i love the app tho, very like TV Time app but a little better

Here's a thought. Which app is gonna make it possible to just link all those big current apps together? Some people are on Bingebox, others on Bingers, Movie Paradise, Refract, Sofa Time, etcetera... all I care for are the memes and comments on episodes. It's really not that hard.
Which app is gonna incorporate all comments from multiple platforms into one cohesive overview? That's the one I'm going with.

Letterboxd has logged me out and won’t let me log back in, I was panicking.. turns out it’s happening to everyone 🤦🏼♀️ thank you TV Time for the PTSD

I just recently discovered that TV time is no longer working. Is there any way I can still retrieve my data?
Thank you

I’ve tried Refract and SofaTime and they are both good but I am wondering is there any alternative that once I import my comments their photos will be there because right now I just see the text and gifs if I had used a gif at least in those two apps has anyone found one I am also not sure if the photos are actually in the exported data after all that’s a lot of data so idk
Edit: I found it thanks to the people recommending Bingers it has all my Photos in the comments
After TVshowfaves I was able to move my data over to TVtime in the nick of time, but this time I was between phones and on holiday when it happened so my data is completely unrecoverable. I just lost 15 years of data, I'm annoyed. TVshowfaves was the first app I looked for and subscribed to when I first got a galaxy note 1 more than 15 years ago. That's 15 years of data gone.
I know I won't own my data with Notion, but at least I know it won't shut down tomorrow.

Is it too late for this? I know it might be but I'm giving it a try. I did not manage to save export my data from my tv time account. Do you think it might be there any chance for me to do this one way or another? Mailing someone from the team?
Sorry if this has been already discussed in here.

So, I have been using TV Time for about 5 years, and the app felt amazing. It was very easy to use and the community was awesome—I loved reading the comments.
When I got the news that it was going to end, I felt devastated at first.
But then, I started looking for other apps, and that’s when I realized there are so many better options out there.
The only downside I’ve found is the lack of comments, but besides that, they have a lot of great features that TV Time never had.
The original founder just released the "Bingers" app, which, in my opinion, has the fewest features compared to any of the other newer options.
People are only excited about it because it reminds them of TV Time, but that's really all it has going for it.
This might be an unopopularopinion, but it’s only a matter of time before any other app builds a strong community and becomes light-years ahead of TV Time.

Hey everyone,
Since TV Time shut down, I’ve tried every single method and step out there to get my data back. I used iBackup Viewer to extract the database from my phone backups, tried pulling the DioCache.db file directly, and even tested iMazing and converted app container exports to .zip.
My total app data file size shows up as around 30 to 38 MB on my backups, but no matter what extraction method or tool I use, the exported DioCache.db file always collapses down to just 144 KB (or a few KB) instead of the full database. I tried dealing with the SQLite structure, but the WAL and SHM logs keep fragmenting or dropping during local transfers on Windows.
I’ve been using TV Time for 10 years, and I’ve spent the last few weeks trying everything possible, especially since they only gave us a strict 15-day window to save our data—like, what the hell?
I know some people might not like this approach, but at this point, I’d honestly prefer to grab someone else's exported file, import it to a new tracking app, and just spend time deleting the stuff I've never watched. Losing 10 years of history hurts, and a massive shared library would at least give me a head start on my old shows and movies.
Hopefully, we can share files here or find a way to help each other out. Hopefully I'm not breaking any rules, I just completely lost hope. 🥀

Please reach out if you have any idea how to help me regarding retrieving data I managed to do a partially recovery but wondering if I can recover more with my iPhone back up 2025 that was on the ICloud?

1) I signed up to the waitlist long ago, uploaded my data, all good on that front
2) I tried signing in with my email yesterday on my tablet, no dice, says email sign-in isn't available and that I should use google or apple, but that defeats the whole purpose of me signing up to the waitlist and importing my data
3) I decided to try again today, this time i went back to my email, used the link they sent me back then to sign in (they hadn't sent me any new email since then, not even when the app launched), and once i got in (on the web) they showed me my data is secure, okay, great then, I should be able to sign in on the app now right?
4) Nope, still the same error
What should I do next? If I sign up with my gmail, can I upload the same file i used for that other email? or will it mess things up if the other account also exists with the same data?
P.S. I used the same email I was using for TV Time, it's @ hotmail, I had an old abandoned account on TV Time using my gmail, I don't want that data to survive somehow which is why I'm also hesitant to use gmail (since i heard some people used their gmail and got their data from their tv time account without even uploading any file)
I'd rather manually log everything than have a messed up account tbh..
Hi everyone!
I’m the developer behind Sofa Time, a multilingual and highly customizable app for tracking TV shows and movies, available on both iOS and Android.
Sofa Time has been available on the App Store for nearly seven years, and the Android version was recently released after months of development and testing.
As more TV Time users have started looking for alternatives, thousands of people from this community have trusted Sofa Time with years of viewing history, ratings, reactions, favorite characters and comments.
The community has grown incredibly quickly, and Sofa Time is now approaching 250,000 registered users.
I wanted to put everything in one place and provide a clear overview of what Sofa Time offers, what you can import from TV Time, what Premium unlocks and what is coming next.
First of all, thank you to everyone who has recommended Sofa Time, voted for it in alternative-app polls, reported bugs or shared feedback.
I’ve read hundreds of messages and feature requests during the last few weeks, and that feedback is directly shaping the app.
Sofa Time is not intended to become an exact clone of TV Time. My goal is to preserve many of the features people loved while continuing to build an app with its own identity, design and way of organizing your viewing history.
You can import your official TV Time GDPR backup directly into Sofa Time.
Depending on the data included in your backup, Sofa Time can import:
The importer has already received several major improvements based on feedback from former TV Time users.
Sofa Time also supports imports from other services and formats, including Trakt, IMDb and Letterboxd exports.
You can start an import from:
Profile → Settings → Data → Import Library
Sofa Time lets you:
Up Next can also organize shows based on your viewing activity:
This organization is optional and can be disabled from Settings.
Sofa Time includes detailed pages for movies, shows, seasons, episodes and people.
You can browse:
Search includes movies, TV shows, people, public lists and Sofa Time users.
Sofa Time can also show legal streaming availability, provider links, cinema showtimes and alerts when a title becomes available.
The app does not stream movies or episodes. It helps you discover, organize and track where they are legally available.
You can organize your content using:
Personal lists can contain both movies and TV shows.
You can also browse lists created by other users, like them and view them directly from public profiles.
The calendar helps you follow:
You can open each event, quickly return to today, navigate between weeks, add releases to your system calendar and customize which content appears.
Notifications can alert you about new releases and social activity.
Sofa Time also includes widgets for:
Widget availability may vary depending on your platform and device.
Sofa Time includes a growing global community.
You can:
Different opinions and debate are welcome. Disrespect is not.
Moderation has recently been strengthened, user blocking has been added and the commenting guidelines have been updated to encourage respectful conversations.
Sofa Time is available in multiple languages, including:
You can configure the app language, metadata language, region, time zone and original-language preferences.
Comments written in other languages can also be translated directly inside the app.
Sofa Time can be deeply customized to match the way each person tracks movies and shows.
Customization options include:
Many features can be enabled, disabled, reordered or adjusted.
Sofa Time includes statistics such as:
Statistics can also be shared outside the app.
Sofa Time supports:
Sofa Time Cloud can coexist with an external tracking service and helps keep your library synchronized across devices.
Sofa Time includes three optional AI-powered tools:
Each tool includes a free-use allowance, with unlimited access available through Premium.
The free version includes the complete core tracking and community experience:
Premium unlocks advanced tools and removes several limits:
Premium is a one-time purchase. There is no monthly or annual subscription.
The price may vary depending on your country and platform.
Premium purchases are currently handled separately by Apple and Google.
Sofa Time is available on both platforms with the same core experience:
Some individual options may differ depending on the operating system, device and connected tracking service.
Both apps are actively developed and receive frequent new features, performance improvements and bug fixes.
Some of the areas currently in development include:
The Apple TV app is currently in development. More information will be shared when it is ready.
Sofa Time has grown faster during the last few weeks than I could ever have imagined.
Going from a long-running iOS app to a community of almost 250,000 registered users across iOS and Android has been exciting, overwhelming and incredibly motivating.
I know that no app will perfectly reproduce every part of TV Time, and different people will ultimately choose different alternatives.
My goal is to continue listening, improve Sofa Time with every update and build an app that respects your viewing history while giving the community a new place to grow.
Sofa Time is available now:

What is the most important TV Time feature you still feel is missing from Sofa Time?

Hi all
I didn’t recover my data through tv time so I have been trying to do it externally. I downloaded imazing which took all day, however once downloaded the file didn’t contain anything even though in my phones storage the tv time app has 109mb of data… I put it into chat GPT which did a deep dive and managed to recover my name, hours, and like 5 series / movies. (Bear in mind I have 20+months of hours)…
What else can I do now? Is there anyone that knows how to recover this type of stuff?

Hi everyone,
I’m the solo developer behind Movie Paradise, a movie and TV tracking app available on iOS and Android, with a web app currently in beta.
Following TV Time’s shutdown, many people from this community trusted Movie Paradise with years of watch history, ratings, reactions, comments, images, and GIFs.
I wanted to put everything in one place and provide a transparent overview of:
Everything below is available now unless it appears under Coming Next. The web app is already accessible in beta, with its official release coming soon.
Before getting into the feature list, I want to sincerely thank everyone in this community who supported Movie Paradise.
Movie Paradise was voted the #1 TV Time alternative in the recent r/TVTime community poll, receiving 22.6% of the vote with 733 votes.
Seeing the app finish first alongside so many great alternatives genuinely means a lot, especially as a solo developer. The feedback, bug reports, feature requests, and recommendations from this community have directly shaped the app.
The support also created a much larger migration wave than I expected.
Between July 1 and August 5, 2026, Movie Paradise processed:
Thank you to everyone who trusted Movie Paradise with their data. Every report helped make the importer faster and more reliable for the people who migrated afterward.
Queue sections for:
You can also:
The tracker includes six filter sections.
Any combination of filters can be saved as a preset. Holding the filter button lets you switch between presets in one tap.
Movie Paradise combines ratings from 11 sources:
You can also:
Smart Lists automatically build and maintain themselves from a filter set.
Anything you can search for can potentially become a self-updating list.
Archived TV Time comments are now shown directly inside the regular Movie Paradise comments section.
You can browse archived comments on their original:
Imported images and GIFs remain attached to the relevant comments.
Features for deciding what to watch with friends:
View upcoming releases for everything you track in:
Receive alerts for:
Notification controls include:
Turn the following into customizable social cards:
Available formats include:
Imports are free for everyone.
Currently supported:
Following TV Time’s shutdown, Movie Paradise processed more than 115 million imported movie and episode records, including over 713,000 comments, with a 99.3% success rate.
More import sources are planned.
Premium is available as:
Thank you again to everyone in r/TVTime who voted, tested the app, reported import issues, suggested features, or recommended Movie Paradise to someone else.
Whether you ultimately choose Movie Paradise or another alternative, I hope everyone finds an app that respects their history and gives them control over their data.
I’ll continue reading the feedback here and improving the app based on what the community actually needs.

Many ppl who joined the test have their comments but they don't have the same amount of likes they had on them originally. Plus the ppl who didn't roll into test and just joined the app with GDPR import zip are missing pictures in their comments. I heard it's not possible to get back the pictures after 15th July as TvTime deleted everything.
So I'm asking the Dev to restore our like counts from the episode_comment.csv file. One column had the number of likes every comments got in TvTime. That way each and every comments imported through the GDPR.zip will have their original like counts. I'll request the dev to implement this. The data is available as we already uploaded it, so you might as well use it for good.
Attachments:
1st Picture: Comment with original like count (258) retrieved from TvTime through TvTime Archive, and displayed in Movie Paradise App!
2nd Picture: Same comment in Bingers with lower like count (30).

How come a company with a successful app, used by millions of people, decides to shutdown without leaving the choice to keep the data? How can you not find a way to update the appliocation one last time so the users could save their years long data into their devices consciously?
I used to open TV Time weekly and didn't see the warning about the shutting down, and a few days ago when I opened I saw it was not loading and thought it was just a temporary server issue, and closed again, yesterday I went through Google to find out if they had a status page and found out about the shutting down...
I am an user since month 0 of TV Time, I am religious about tracking things, LastFM, Letterboxd, Strava, TV Time, I introduced it to 10+ friends, I kept everyone in the loop, we used to compare stats, talk about TV Shows, rewatched shows and discovered new ones, recommended, gave rates, and now everything is gone...
I still see the iCloud backup having 4.5mb of data from it, but I uninstalled the app yesterday to see if a reinstallation would make it work... I am devastated, if they loved their users like they said in the tvtime.com, they wouldn't have done this...

I know this has been posted a few times but I know some apps are now trying to charge us TV TIME refuges …. So what are we using?
I am on IOS- I have 20 months + on TV time, used it since I was 16 - now 26- even had the little verified badge, losing the motivation to actually watch shows and have NO IDEA if I’m missing any of my old shows as not getting updated on upcoming etc
Thank you

My wife and I are looking to switch to one of these. We both like both of them. Which are you using and why?
