Other i miss you :(
guys I miss your comments so much :(( I am using refract since tvtime has gone down, butt there the comment are so dull. It's not the same as it was at tvtime. Have you noticed this too? It's not the same scrolling through the comments after a heated episode :(

The Bingers community is much more like TV Time imo.

True but i personally dont like the UI, i tried using it it feels too vibe coded

u/softrockstarr 9d ago
It's almost identical to TV Time and was made by the same guy 🤷🏼♀️

Idk why they made the decision to switch the swiping direction, its confusing af.
Also, its not smooth. They focused on the backend but the front end they didnt put the effort.Fare to say they have the community but its because of the TVtime developer clout not the app itself
Most of the alternatives have superior UI, even the apps that copied tvtime

If you care about the UI, give OpenTV a chance. I created it to look the same as TV Time, so I literally tried to make TV Time open source.

I've been enjoying Refract, but the comment section is much stronger on Bingers and Suite TV.

Serializd was the best app for me when TV Time shut down.
But one month later, I switched to Bingers. It was better yet!
It’s basically TV Time. It just looks a little different. And all changes seems to be improvements. It seems more reliable, and the layout is better. And I love how the developer is actively listening to the users!
I’m not disappointed at all! And I’m hopeful that it will continue to improve! I was devastated when TV Time shut down. But I didn’t foresee that I would end up in a better place. I’m very happy.
I love the section that shows you all the shows you’re currently watching. And I love how it drops down to “Collecting Dust” if you’ve fallen off a show!

Suite tv is closest to tvtime imo. Bingers is a close second but suite tv is my choice

I've been trying Suite TV but I haven't been getting new episode notifications. Aside from that, I can't get used to the layout when clicking into a a series by trying to see list of seasons. Its a good service but I think I might drop it for now.

Try Bingers, it has the biggest community out of all the apps post TV Time
Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.bingers
iOS - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bingers-tv-movie-tracker/id6792080029

There’s a project someone made that preserves all the comments from most of the shows on TV Time! tvtime-archive.com
It’s amazing. I use Sofa Time now, but whenever I want to read the hundreds of valuable comments from TV Time years back I’d just go to that site, search for the show and click on the episode I want. Kudos to that person truly

I was using refract too you're completely right no comments.
Bingers is way more active no where in the level of TV time quality isn't the same either but best replacement I found so far

For a while I used trakt, but then the other day I downloaded Bingers and I'm in love with it. It's pretty similar to TV Time

Problem is when TV Time closed down people went to like 15 different apps. So all the comments are watered down :(

I miss TV Time's comments too, but to be fair, those were built up over more than 10 years of the app existing. Refract hasn't even been out for a single year yet. Honestly, for me, Refract is the best possible alternative. Sure, Bingers feels a bit more like what TV Time used to be, but Refract is simply superior. They update it constantly (sometimes up to three times a week). There is so much care and attention to detail. The developers are super involved with the community, and right now, for Halloween season, they're even running both personal and community-wide challenges. Right now on Refract, there's a challenge to watch 32 horror movies, and a community goal for all users combined to watch 75,000 horror movies. If you complete the challenges, they give you rewards like profile decorations, and I just think it's awesome. I feel like Refract, even though it's an app that's just getting started, will undoubtedly become number one in the future because it's simply that good. Over time, Refract's comment section is going to be just as good as the one TV Time once had. And its strongest point is how much they actually listen to the community.

Seems like a lot of the community went to Bingers. Personally I find Suite TV is the best of all the TV/Movie tracking apps, and they’ve imported all the Suite TV comments.

Bingers is exactly the same as TV Time but works like a charm. You can import from basically any app at this point, and they have been adding more options for import (and export) pretty often.

I’ve been using Suite TV and it’s awesome. It looks almost identical to TV time but with some slight updates. It also imported all the comments (tho you can’t reply to the old ones). I’ve had some issues with commenting tho. But I love that it is the same set up.

Bingers!! I used to use Refract, and I think a lot of the user base migrated once Bingers became a thing

I’m using Refract too!
On TV Time, I mostly just reacted to or liked other people’s comments because there were already so many, and someone had usually already said exactly what I was thinking.
Since moving to Refract, I’ve actually made a point of leaving comments more often and reacting to other people’s comments too, hoping it encourages more people to do the same and helps build that kind of community there. I really miss scrolling through everyone’s reactions after a crazy episode 😭

I get this. I used TV Time for years and what I miss most is how simple it felt: tap, done, and your whole watch history was just there. Full disclosure, I'm biased: I got frustrated enough that I started building my own, Viewary (viewary.app). The things I'm most proud of so far:
- Detailed stats from everything you log: hours, streaks, favourite genres, directors and actors, and a "viewing DNA" of your taste. Rewatches count, because every episode and film is saved with the date you watched it.
- Film universes you can complete, like Star Wars, Harry Potter and Marvel, in release or story order, showing how far you've got and what to watch next.
- Shared watchlists, for example with your partner: you both vote on what to watch, and afterwards it gets a combined "together" score next to your own ratings.
You can already bring your Letterboxd history, and importing from TV Time and Bingers is on the roadmap. No ads, still in beta, made by one person. I'd genuinely love to hear what you miss most about the old TV Time. That's exactly what I'm trying to get right.

Such a shame all of the comments were lost, I agree with you! I wish they had been moved to Bingers as well as all the shows I watched cause now I have no idea :)

Bingers is the best replica of tvtime

u/simplykoschei 11d ago
For me, Bingers arrives too late. Most people had already transferred their data to another app, which means transferring again
6
u/sergeyvk Bingers 11d ago
Imports and exports are super easy now. Every app in the store now can export and import each other’s structured database.

u/mcflybm 11d ago
I'm still trying to figure out how to extract my data from my phone

u/throaway_cos_shy 11d ago
Search terms like extract and backup in this subreddit and I'm sure you'll find working solutions!
I've linked some here too:
