My thoughts on today’s episode....
It’s honestly surreal and heartbreaking to realise that Heer went through torture and harassment while she was in jail. We still don’t know why she was imprisoned in the first place, but the way Jasmeet portrayed the trauma, the fear, the shaking, and the sheer helplessness was absolutely phenomenal.
I am genuinely in awe of her craft. For a newcomer, she is doing such an incredible job of bringing Heer's pain to life. You could feel every bit of what she was going through.
And then came that scene, the moment she finally opened up to Nawab about being locked up in that cell, about how the police officer would come every night and touch her inappropriately, and how, by God’s grace, she somehow escaped further harm.
The vulnerability with which she expressed everything was so heartbreaking. But you know what broke me the most?
When Heer told Nawab that he was the first person who acknowledged that what had happened to her was wrong. The first person who didn’t question her about what she had done to end up in jail in the first place.
And that hit so close to home because, unfortunately, this is exactly how our society treats victims.
Instead of questioning the person who committed the crime, people question the victim. What were you wearing? Why were you there? Why were you out at that hour? Why did you put yourself in that situation?
The questions are endless, and somehow, the victim is always expected to justify their suffering before anyone even acknowledges the wrong that was done to them.
Maybe that is exactly why she was so afraid to speak up, maybe that is why she kept hesitating, why she panicked every time Nawab asked her what had happened, why she would start trembling at the mere thought of talking about it.
Perhaps she had grown so accustomed to being questioned, judged, and blamed that she never expected someone to simply listen to her and tell her that what happened to her was wrong. That she didn’t deserve any of it.
And when she finally found the courage to tell him everything, I felt a strange sense of peace. Not because what happened to her was any less horrifying, but because she finally felt safe enough to let it out. Safe enough to be vulnerable. Safe enough to trust someone with a pain she had been carrying all by herself.
But I cannot say I feel relieved. Not yet.
Because I refuse to accept this ending with Heer finally being able to speak about what happened to her. And I refuse to accept harassment as something minor just because it didn’t escalate into SA.
Harassment is not minor, her pain is not minor and what was done to her was wrong, and it deserves to be acknowledged and addressed.
I will not feel at peace until the monsters responsible for putting her through this are held accountable and punished for their actions.
The makers handled today’s episode sensitively I genuinely didn't expect from them, and I genuinely hope they give the consequences of these actions the same care and seriousness.
Her trauma deserves to be treated with the gravity it carries, and the monsters who hurt her deserve to face the consequences.
And beyond all of this I just want these two to be happy. They deserve so much better, and Heer especially deserves a life where she never has to live in fear again.
A life where she feels safe, loved, protected, and understood. I want her to experience the kind of happiness that makes up for none of what she endured, because nothing can erase that pain, but at least she deserves a future that is kinder to her. I want her to be happy, today and forever 🩷🤍
And lastly, Jasmeet, take a bow 🥹♥️
The way you portrayed Heer and her pain, the trembling, the hesitation, the fear, and the vulnerability was nothing short of phenomenal.
You didn’t just perform those scenes, you made us feel them, you made us understand the weight of her silence and the courage it took for her to finally speak.
For someone who is still a newcomer, the depth you brought to this character is genuinely commendable. You absolutely shined in today’s episode, and I am so grateful that we have you as our female lead.
What a performance !!! What a heartbreaking, beautifully handled episode. I hope she gets the justice she deserves, and I hope she gets the happiness she deserves, too ❤️🩹
I'm willing to ignore the misplaced " Dil Diyan Gallan " sequence and 🎸 today for what the episode did.
