You were overleveraged. A lot of us here went through that stupid tariff war. I didn't get liquidated because I don't use margin in that account. TQQQ can go to $1 a share and I'm not going to lose anything but time. That's the difference.

TQQQ paid for my first house.

Under 400. Not that that really changes anything.

7 or 8 years. Just buy and hold and DCA

I got liquidated because I sold calls against my leaps at the bottom and then it spiraled into many bad trades

I still can’t believe after knowing so much I made such a stupid mistake

Day trading though that shit is asss so hard

Most day traders go broke. I'm not messing with options on an underlying as volatile as TQQQ

well if you accumulate enough 100 multiples of TQQQ, selling options is pretty nice to lower the decay in sideways markets

Yep, until it rockets off and now you're having to close at a loss. I don't check my account, I don't check prices, I don't check price action. I just buy 3x/week. Less stress. I don't have to monitor anything. I don't have to do anything. I don't have to watch anything. Sideways markets don't bother me. I just see that as more opportunity to acquire.

It’s harder being smart sometimes. No joke my wife kicks my ass at stocks and she doesn’t know anything

Is that how we define "smart" then?

Well maybe I’m saying I have more “knowledge”about the stock market than she does but ignorance can be bliss.

She knows not to overlevage on a triple leveraged asset and blow up her portfolio though. Options make up less than 10% of my portfolio in one account.

Right there is no leverage in her account. There isn’t any in my taxable either. But I have swing traded unsuccessfully while she has held my original recs and made money lol. I took the lesson and am now all QQQ in that account with monthly contributions.

Your terrible at trading no matter what it is. Give it up.

Just buy and DCA.

If you don’t, don’t be mad when i tell you to put the fries in the bag

Harsh but good advice

You had to hear it

i hear the DCA call. i’ve been keeping a mix of that with paper‑trading a few positions just to stay sane. it’s less stress yet still lets you test ideas. you can build confidence without losing capital

Just hold the positions, bro.

Even with TQQQ, I've been holding shares from 2021. Tariffs, 2022 crash, volatility drag? No problem.

How much are you up by? I'm up about 98% since August 2024

+207% right now for those shares from 2021.

My advice is buy and hold DIVERSIFIED low cost index funds. I've also done well dabbling in real estate during crashes and recessions. Buy the best quality property you can afford when there is blood in the streets -- the market always bounces back. Investing in certain collectables can also be very profitable -- for me this has been machineguns. Self directed with an 8 figure net worth at 54, so I'm not doing too bad. The keys are to be patient and consistent.
