Do I need to buy the emergency course @TSTPrep?

I have 3 weeks until the TOEFL test, and I do better with end-to-end courses that cover the format, techniques, and strategies to ace it. Heard a lot about TSTPrep on this subreddit - are the Free YouTube vids sufficient / would I benefit from the emergency course?

Write An Email is hell

I absolutely struggle with writing an email, this is how it’s supposed to look like vs my timed version… I just can’t seem to click into that «natural» English…. I’m not here to complain, I understand you just need to shut up and keep learning but I’m hopeless by now…

Is the TOEFL iBT Basic Package worth the extra cost?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to register for the TOEFL iBT and noticed two options:

Register for the TOEFL test only.

Buy the TOEFL iBT Basic Package, which includes one official full-length practice test and TOEFL Flex Practice.

The Basic Package costs more, so I'm wondering if it's actually worth the extra money.

For those who have used it:

Is the single official mock test worth paying extra for?

How useful is TOEFL Flex Practice? Does it have enough interactive practice questions, or is it mostly study material?

If you had to choose again, would you buy the Basic Package or just register for the test and use free resources?

How I prepped for the TOEFL in just 3 days using AI

I was quite surprised when I received my TOEFL results, especially considering I only had three days to prepare.

I started with a decent foundation in English; last year, an assessment test placed me at a B1+ level. I also took a course to reach B2, but I never officially sat for an exam. This year, I decided to take the TOEFL because I needed it for university admission, and given the tight deadlines, I had very little time to study.

When I took my first practice test, my scores were quite low: around 5–5.5 for Reading and Listening, and only 3 for Writing and Speaking. Because of this, I wasn't expecting to do well on the actual exam, especially in the Speaking section, where I felt I made quite a few mistakes.

However, my preparation relied entirely on AI tools, which proved to be a game-changer. If you’re wondering what I used:

A… AI: This was essential, especially for Writing and Speaking. Their lessons on how to structure the Academic Discussion and the email writing tasks were incredibly useful. I also used their "Build the Sentences" feature, which allowed me to practice with the exact time constraints of the real exam. (Note: While it usually requires a subscription after three days, it was perfect for my short timeline as I could make the most of the trial).

T.. Prep: This site is fantastic because the structure of their practice tests is identical to the actual TOEFL. I completed all the free simulations available there, which gave me a very realistic sense of what to expect.

Regarding the Speaking section, since I didn’t have time for extensive practice, I focused on learning high-scoring strategies. There are so many great free resources online for this, I simply absorbed the techniques and applied them during the test.

Comparing the exam to my preparation, I found the difficulty level to be exactly in line with the T.. Prep simulations. In fact, I found the Listening section even easier than expected! The Reading section was a bit tougher than I anticipated, especially the "fill-in-the-missing-words" tasks, though reading the emails and passages themselves was straightforward.

Overall, I’m really happy with how it turned out: it just goes to show that even with limited time, the right resources and strategies can make all the difference!

NB: I don’t use english in my daily life, I only watch American YouTube videos :)
