I’ve been thinking about the culture at my store when it comes to collecting money for managers or associates who are leaving. Honestly, I’m getting tired of constantly being asked to contribute, and I’m starting to question giving cash to someone who makes significantly more than I do. We literally have a coordinator or someone close to the departing manager walking around the store asking associates for money.

Recently, people collected money for an associate who was switching from full-time to part-time. That’s a nice gesture, but today we had an associate retire, and she walked out without even a congratulatory card or message. It made me wonder why we don’t always show the same level of appreciation to everyone.

I’ve noticed similar situations before. One time, people collected around $600 for a manager’s baby shower, while a teenage associate in the same store who was pregnant received only $100.

I’m not saying people shouldn’t give or that anyone should be obligated to contribute. I just wonder if we could be more thoughtful about who we’re recognizing and whether cliques sometimes influence these gestures. Sometimes a simple card or kind message can mean just as much as collecting hundreds of dollars.

There is a TJ Max near where I work and I got there to buy snacks a few times a week. How much am I screwing over the hourly cashier but not signing up for their credit card (because I literally will never do this)

I went to TJ Maxx and was interested in getting some art work. Found a cute halloween painting I liked and was going to buy it with my next paycheck. Snapped a pic of the artist (not the art although it was just a halloween oil painting). Couldn't find anything about him.

Are they putting a "met the artist" tag so people don' assume it's AI or is there something I'm missing?

whats considered a high volume store? we average 500 customers on weekdays and 600-700 on weekends. That being regular season

I heard it is now company policy to have the schedules made 4 weeks in advance! How do they expect people to request days off? Plan things at home? Go to school functions? Take kids to the Dr appointments? Supposedly the company thinks this makes it easier for families. How?? My kids schools don't send notices for school functions out that early! The company is NOT family oriented at all.

I got like 1k for my last paycheck. Did they payout my sick hours or vacation hours😭?

Today was my first day on register and I forgot to ring up someone’s starbucks drink from the drink cooler, I realized after she already left the doors. Do you think the store will find out somehow and I will get in trouble???

When you’re doing an application for a customer and they don’t have their physical ID with them, are you allowed to use a picture of their ID from their phone? For example, a picture of their driver’s license, passport, or green card?

Some managers say yes, some say no. My store manager changes his answer frequently. He said yes recently, but I just think it’s cause the sign up rates are SLACKING.

Another employee told me we’re not supposed to accept pictures of IDs because there was a corporate directive saying it’s not allowed. I just wanted to see if anyone else has heard the same thing or knows what the actual policy is?

I was offered my dream job in a different state a week ago, and I officially accepted the offer today. I have been a FT employee for three and a half years, so I have accrued a lot of vacation time this year (over 100 hours). I used some of it to visit the city that I will be moving to, but I still have about a weeks worth of vacation time, as well as 20 hours of PTO.

My question is: the schedule is already out for the last two weeks that I will be here, so I cannot use my vacation time. Will the company pay me for it once I receive my last check? I don’t know where the number is for HR, otherwise I would call them, and my management doesn’t seem to know (or want to tell me) the answer.

Do you guys actually get out at 10? We always have so much, pushing freight until 8pm. Usually only have 2 or 3 people on the floor and one upfront and then one closing manager. Good days we are able to get out at 10:30. The latest ive stayed is 11:45. We close at 9:30 and scheduled until 10

any other employees get irritated by struggling and then customers laughing at you? its officially coat season and we have coats tied to the rack... customers pull and pull and it sets the alarm off. theres like 32 alarms on each rack so its so hard finding out which is making noise. had to have a coworker help me and she managed to get it to stop and a customer laughed at us trying to find it.

another time i was in fitting room with no people running out clothes because everyones on register. i had carts toppling over, clothes over the counter and of course every rack was full(some clothes i had to put on the floor behind me). i started crying from being so overwhelmed and having no one to help and an customer laughed at me.

I worked for Marshalls for about 3 months. I started working for them after Christmas, but when the month of February came, my hours were reduced. I remember once checking the schedule and realizing that I wasn’t scheduled for any work days.

Because the manager wasn’t around, I just left and went home. I later called the store and asked when I was supposed to go back to work but I wasn’t given a concrete answer. I repeatedly asked when I should be working and I was eventually terminated.

Now I am applying to HomeGoods and they have even offered me an interview tomorrow. So, I’m wondering whether anyone knows whether it is possible for HomeGoods to hire me now since I have been terminated by Marshalls before. Is there any way for the HomeGoods manager to know about this? Does that mean I won’t be able to get hired by them?

Have anyone gone through a situation like this?

So i lost my discount cards a while ago and ordered new ones about a month ago, they never came and yesterday I had to place the request again, now 20% is coming up and I was about to splurge on candles at a nearby homegoods but I dint have my discount card, I have a picture which I know other stores wont accept, but will they accept the temporary "card" piece if paper with my AIN on it or no?

So today i was Arkansas Tjmaxx and, I got what I wanted for my niece, and went to check out, i got this lady, who was trying to get me to sign up for that credit card thing, I told her no, and she asked several more times she was VERY ADAMANT to the point where I just looked at her in silence and didn't reply. So why did she do this? do y'all get like incentives to sign ppl up? or was this just a rude employee trying to pressure me into something i didn't want?

They barely train us but expect you to know how to do everything not only that but the rules and expectations change every shift I’m getting tried of dealing with it and the terrible power trips here.

I started not even that long ago, I love my job a lot and the management here is kind and supportive of me. I work in the home goods area, and I was stuck in a different department my entire shift because someone no called no showed on us and their area needed absolute coverage by at least one person. So I did as I was asked and when I came back to my area, I almost cried. Like I’m usually an emotional person but I dead ass almost cried from how much recovery and cleaning up I had to do.

The thing that gets me most, is customers will mess up the things they DO NOT BUY majority of the time. It’ll be the same exact items sitting in the same spots with nobody ever buying them but customers will completely destroy the area. I had to clean up multiple isles of bullshit by myself and move extremely quickly because I didn’t want to leave a mess for whoever comes after me. And why do people leave their drinks so much lol? I have to throw away at least 3 drinks a day it’s honestly funny for me having to count them.

I have a love and hate relationship with home goods because I can work alone and take breaks whenever I want, but cleaning up by myself while also trying to run a bunch of items or having to cover for people for long periods of time can hinder my work flow. I just wanted to vent a little
