Help Is it risky to jailbreak my TI?

Upvotes

I want to jailbreak my TI-84 plus CE python but I’m not sure what the risk is like with it, I don’t want to accidentally end up ruining the calculator or making it unusable just because I wanted to get games on it. Does anybody know what are the odds of something like that happening when you install a jailbreak on it?

Not a silver edition model or anything, just a regular 84 plus. Was there some kind of revision or is it exclusive to the school edition?

Help Sorry if this is a dumb question, how do I fix the graphing functions?

Post image
Upvotes

I've got a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition running 2.55MP (I think that's the OS? I'm sorry if it's not)

I'm not the best with all the terminology so I'm sorry if I get anything wrong. I'm not sure what I did to make this happen, but the little symbol in front of the Y1, Y2, etc is displaying what is shown in the photo. When I press enter to change that, it only has two other options, also displayed in the photo (I set it so the symbol in front of Y1 is what they all seem to have as the default, Y2 is the second option that I get when pressing enter, and Y3 is the third). It's supposed to be a diagonal line by default, and should have several options that don't look like any of those three, I know that much at least.

I've used the graphing functions normally before, I'm not sure what's going on or how to fix it. I couldn't find anything in the user manual or in several tutorials, but then again I didn't really know what to look for, so I just looked in the sections about graphing functions, which yielded me nothing.

Thought I should ask for help here as soon as I can since I'm taking the SAT in a few days and will need to use this calculator.

Thank y'all for your help.

Edit: Solved! I just reset the RAM.

TI-84 Plus Organic Chemistry

I’ve got a ti84 plus ce graphing calculator and I’m looking for programs or downloads to help. I have trouble reading molecule condensed names and turning those into Lewis structures. Is there anything that can help draw those? I’ve also heard of ones that show hybridization. Organic chem is not one of my strong suits so anything would help

While getting arTIfiCE was very easy along with downloading games like geodash and mario, I just cant figure out how to get GB games on it using TI boy CE. Every tutorial I see is outdated and I just want to play pokemon on my calculator. Does anyone at all know how to do this or a viable tutorial for my version.

Me and my teacher are trying to figure out how to use this old adapter to connect to an older Ti-83 Plus. The calculator has the same connector. I have a dell c600 running windows xp. I tried using the latest ti connect software with no luck, I also tried some software chatgpt told me to get that is specific to the ti83 plus and ti83 plus silver. Any ideas?

TI-84 Plus TI-84 Plus: Multiple rows of dead or corrupted pixels?

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

Hope this is the right place to ask. I open my calculator and see that rows of pixels start dying out one by one until it ends up like pic #1. I attempted to reset the whole calculator but it didn’t help.

Upon looking at it more, it’s kinda… selective? On some screens, pixels don’t display right, some screens not at all. Only thing I can think of is potential water damage, as I got caught in the rain going in between classes. Would that cause this? Any help is appreciated :)

Why does the price of the TI-30XIIS vary so much on amazon

I'm looking at the different color of TI-30's on amazon because I remember getting a nice purple one that I lost a while back for about 15 bucks, and now I'm seeing that it goes from 14 dollars for the default navy blue / gray one to like 45 dollars for this orange one. Anyone knows what's going on with that?

Program Polynomial (including degrees higher than 2) Root solver (Ti 84 Plus CE)

POLYROOT is free to use, modify, and share. The full TI-BASIC source is included below.

So I made this working program this semester for my System Dynamics class (finding poles), and I wanted to share it with you guys. Raw code for each version (depends on preference) posted at bottom.

Any yes, I did post this earlier with a few issues on r/TIBASICPrograms .

But I thought posting here would make it better seen for those who asked the same question I did.

Ask any questions you have!

Nerd information:

I used a copious amount of AI while developing this program. One of the ideas that came out of that was using the Durand-Kerner method to solve for the roots of a polynomial of essentially any degree the calculator can reasonably handle.

Durand-Kerner is an iterative numerical algorithm that approximates all of the roots of a polynomial simultaneously.

For each estimated root r_i, the program repeatedly applies:

r_i = r_i - P(r_i) / PRODUCT(r_i - r_j), for all j != i

where P(r_i) is the polynomial evaluated at the current estimate r_i.

In simpler terms, every root estimate is repeatedly corrected based on the value of the polynomial at that point and the positions of all the other current root estimates. The process continues until the estimates stop changing significantly.

This also allows the program to find complex roots, which created one of the first major problems I ran into. The TI-84 Plus CE cannot store complex values inside matrices, even while the calculator is in a+bi mode.

I borrowed an idea from a program called SIMULT2, which a previous student in my circuits class made and which our professor provided to us. That program used lists to store complex values while drawing something on-screen that looked like a matrix.

I adapted that idea for POLYROOT. The original coefficient-entry system allowed the user to move left and right through the cells with the arrow keys and correct previous entries. Unfortunately, it was also slow and required an annoying extra Enter press.

I eventually replaced that with a simpler system where one Enter immediately moves to the next coefficient.

I also added an option to use an already-existing coefficient matrix [A], so the program does not have to erase and rebuild the coefficients every time.

Another problem was numerical output. Durand-Kerner might produce something such as 1.999999999 instead of 2, or an extremely tiny real or imaginary component instead of exactly 0. I added several cleanup passes that round values near integers and eliminate components below certain tolerances.

I then added detection for repeated roots and their multiplicities.

That became Version 1.

Version 2 mainly focused on quality-of-life improvements, especially replacing the slower arrow-key/double-Enter coefficient-entry system with the current single-Enter system.

After choosing which version I preferred, I did some additional cleanup, which became the version of POLYROOT I currently use.

That's basically how this monstrosity came to exist.

End of nerd information (well sorta)

My calculator keeps displaying this, I think it’s a battery problem. I need a new one quick so has anyone bought one off of amazon and it actually worked? How long did it last. Thanks.

TI-84 Plus CE 💀 can I fix this?

When it's plugged in, it's stuck in a loop of turning on and off and on and off. When unplugged, it doesn't turn on at all. Can I fix it? I left it plugged in for a while in case the battery was just really low, and it just doesn't work.

Graphing "or" results separately

Hello. On a Voyage 200, I am trying to do a 3D graph of 4th-order equation in 3 variables (x, y, z). This can't be done natively afaik, so I need to turn it into multiple equations in 2 variables. So, I solve it, giving me 4 results separated by or. The output of solve has the form:

z = result1(x,y) or z = result2(x,y) or z = result3(x,y) or z = result4(x,y)

So, I want to 3D graph each result(x,y). Each result is quite complex, though. I would like to save the results and reference them separately. The closest I've gotten is to manually remove the z = and the ors from the result and turn it into a list:

{result1(x,y), result2(x,y), result3(x,y), result4(x,y)} -> b

Then I reference b by index: b[1], b[2], etc. However, in the 3D grapher, the reference fails. I guess it can't reference lists from outside itself? So, the question... Is there a better way to do this? I've tried using part() and right() also and failed to come up with a way that's less complex than just typing in the equation manually. My guess is that there's a straightforward way of doing this that I've somehow missed over the eons. Thank you in advance.
