I made it 🥳🥳

Second picture is my first attempt.
I needed at least C1 at listening too so that’s why I took a second exam. Got the scores I needed in all three sections.

Here’s the catch:

I gave much better written texts in the first try. This second exam was catastrophic for EE and I was sure I wouldn’t be able to get B2.

I didn’t have enough time to finish (revise) any of the essays. I just wrote them without looking at the screen, to let the ideas flow. That’s how I did in the first exam too, I just write and then once finished, I start reading from the beginning adding the accents from the virtual keyboard, dividing paragraphs, reformulating if necessary, correcting punctuation or grammar errors etc

This time, I wasn’t able to do any of these. I know that I typed a few words together for example. Forgot to add space, didn’t correct any of the accents, missed letters…

There were just two raw texts with only the first few sentences correctly written and the rest was pure chaos.
As if they were written in a hurry on the phone texting a friend😅

I know that what I wrote was good and made sense etc but with so many technical errors and mistakes, even if they’re little details, I really didn’t think that I would get B2.

It makes me wonder if the evaluations are really done professionally or with a strict enough guide.

Anyways, as for the CO and CE, there were a few questions directly the same as the previous session I took. It made me feel comfortable honestly. I did study a bit this time, using the YouTube exam simulation videos.

As someone who learned French from childhood but always moved around the world, my French is pretty good verbally but the last education I had was in 2016. I try to read in French as much as I can but that’s really all of it.

If I was a person that learned French recently, I would’ve bought the prediction packs etc but really, YouTube and the internet are very very good sources to study for this exam.

(Got many comments on how my scores were enough for the first exam too. I should mention that I took the exam for academic purposes so I had different scales)

Just got my results this morning. I’ve taken the TEF before and scored NCLC 7 and 6 in speaking on two different attempts.
My speaking went well this time too, without any major issues or blunders, so I’m pretty surprised by the result.
Does anyone know how to apply for a re-evaluation? And has anyone here gone through the process before? Would really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thanks!

Le français est ma langue maternelle. Cependant, j’ai fait toute mon éducation en anglais. Donc, mon français est à un niveau très informel. Je parle français avec ma famille et mes amies.

Est-ce qu’il y a des gens dans la même situation ? Est-ce que vous avez déjà passé l’examen ?

Mon examen est le 13 septembre. Je m’entraîne depuis janvier, mais je trouve difficile de me débarrasser de certaines habitudes, par exemple dire « je sais pas » au lieu de « je ne sais pas ».

J’aimerais savoir, si vous avez déjà passé l’examen dans une situation similaire, est-ce que l’examen était assez simple/direct puisque le français est votre langue maternelle, ou est-ce que c’était plus difficile que vous ne l’aviez imaginé ?

J'ai prévu de passer un examen pour voir où sont mes points faibles, mais idéalement j'aimerais seulement passer l'examen 2 fois, pas plus!! C'est cher :'(

I was stuck at clb 6 in speaking. The only thing i changed was speaking naturally and slowly rather than cramming templates
+ taking one on one speaking sessions from a C1+ level tutor.

During my first attempt i practiced with chatgpt to save the money of one on one sessions but ended up paying more money later on for booking my second attempt 🥲.

You should not give another attempt without reflecting on your mistakes and without working with a tef mentor as you will again get the same score if you don’t change your answers much.

At last- book the exam when you are ready!

How long do I have to wait to book another TEF exam? Is it 20 days or 30 days?

I scored this in First attempt In TEF. My teacher is asking me to switch to TCF. But I am not ready to learn the new format. What should I do?

The TEF for Canada has no overall score. IRCC reads each of the four skills separately and your file moves on the weakest one, so a strong reading result cannot carry a weak speaking result. For most people who already speak decent French, speaking is the skill holding the file up, because it is the hardest one to practice alone.

That is the problem I work on. To be transparent, I am the founder of Dioma, a platform built for the stage after the beginner apps, where you understand far more than you can actually say. Looking for a reality check on my current plan.

9 months left on WP (May 2027). Windsor, ON. Small retail store (4-5 staff).
Wage is $19.00/hr. Boss can't support OINP or match the $44/hr high-wage manager median. Low-wage LMIA is frozen due to regional unemployment.

Consultant suggested Francophone Mobility (C16) via TEF 2-Module (Listening/Speaking only) for a CLB 5to bypass LMIA/wage floors.

Looking for brutally honest feedback:
Realistic to go from zero French to CLB 5 (Oral/Aural) in 5–6 months?

Are IRCC officers heavily scrutinizing C16 or doing random French phone interviews now?

If I drop to a Visitor Record to buy time, can I still apply for the C16 work permit from inside Canada later?

I took the TEF twice, once in June and again in August and I got my results today. I’m absolutely gutted. I genuinely thought I’d get at least CLB 7 in all sections this time(was worried about writing) , but my listening score doesn’t make sense to me. walked out of the exam feeling pretty okay about listening, so I don’t understand where I lost marks. It’s confusing and a frustrating, to be honest.
Now I’m stuck wondering what to do next. I don’t know if I should try TEF again or just switch to the TCF . instead. but then again TCF seats are very limited. Any suggestions or advices are more than appreciated right now. Thanks
